…Map:
Here is a map showing the building in which the sessions and tournaments for are group are to held. It also shows where all the parking is and I have labeled where parking is free and where it is not.

UCI CAMPUS MAP

Green - This is the student center building which we play in. Once inside, there are tons of signs to lead you to Pacific Ballroom A
Orange - Parking structure closest to the session. It is $8 for all day parking
Teal - This is the UTC shopping center. Parking here is free, but at risk of tow if they see you going to UCI.
Red - Parking along the road, between UTC and the apartments. This parking is free 72 hour parking. Granted its a little bit of a walk, but its free parking.

Schedule:
Every other Friday
5:00pm - 11:30pm
We begin casuals at 5:00pm allowing all players a chance to warm-up. Registration and fee collection start at 6:30pm and the ranbat itself will begin promptly at 7:00pm. Please be on time! If you are interested in entering and cannot make it on time and you have a viable excuse (“I’m a pro so just wait for me” does not constitute as a viable excuse), please post in the event page or thread to let me know and we can work something out. You are liable for disqualification if your name is called and you are not present.

Games for Season:
Super SF4 (We are on ranbat 3 of the season)
Marvel vs Capcom 3 (This will mark the start of MvC3 season)

Register:
You may pre-register by telling me so on the event page or this thread. There technically is no cap to the ranbat since we don’t have huge turnouts, but if it starts getting to be the case, we will cap the tourney. The cap will be determined by us (myself, Thomas Do, Steven Nguyen, Timothy Lee) and also depend on how many setups we have access to.

Entry fee:
$5 to the pot per game + $2 venue fee
If entering in only SSF4 = $7
If entering in only MvC3 = $7
If entering in both = $12

Prize:
Payout is the standard 70/30 for 1st & 2nd place for every ranbat.
Season pot prize for SSF4 is a Super TE stick
Season pot prize for MvC3 is to be determined.

Rules:
Basically EVO Ruleset.

  1. 2 out of 3 rounds, 99-second rounds
  2. Double-elimination, 2 out of 3 sets for both Winner’s & Loser’s Bracket; 3 out of 5 sets for Grand Finals. Loser’s finalist must win two sets against Winner’s finalist, while Winner’s finalist only needs to win one
  3. Only loser may switch characters; however, you may change your Ultra at any time

Seeding:
Seeding is currently undetermined at this time, but will be discussed with my peers.

UCI Fight Nights

All right, so I figured its about time UCI got its own thread again. Here’s the dealio,

I hold sessions usually Tues from afternoon to evening. We’re typically in the SST (Social Science Trailers). Unfortunately, I only have 1 setup, so if anyone brings more, its welcome. Turnouts for sessions are random. Pretty decent when school is in session, but lately in the summer, a little lackluster. Hoping all that will change with the addition of an SRK page.

This is our FB page:

Fighting Gamers @ UCI

Typically I’ve been sending invites to sessions through here, but I’ll be posting here as well for upcoming sessions and tournaments. Currently, the page is set to private, as I am still discussing with people whether to make it public or not. If you’d like an invite, feel free to add me on FB.

Evilragnarok

We will be holding tournaments on a regular basis as well. Currently in collaboration with Ayochip for SoCal Ranbats. Details will be listed as soon as they are worked out.

There is no charge to play, but donations are welcome, for they will go towards more setups if there is enough demand. We’re a pretty chill group, we play an assortment of games including, SSF4, Blazblue, MvC3, AH3, Guilty Gear, 3rd Strike, Melty Blood, etc.

So if you’re in the south end of the OC, or you’re close to UCI or attending the school, and you wanna play, just hit us up. Hope to see new faces.

Good shit, lookin forward to updates!

this is hella dope!!! ucla is kinda far away, but if you guys are ever having large events, we’ll be there to support! UCI VS. UCLA 5v5 Epic Team Battle maybe??? anways, mad props and it’s heart warming to see UCI blowing up!!!

Thanks for the support.

We’ll definitely get another 5v5 battle going on, once UCI Fight Nights gets a firm foundation.

How many GG/Blazblue players come out for these usually?

I’ll be down to bring the UCR SFIV crew up there to Irvine one of these days.

Id like to rep as a uci alum (08). Kinda new to ssf4 and the scene. What time do you play on thursdays? Thatd be perfect cuz my gf has class at extension on thur nights.

Session times vary, but we go as long as we can. Usually til we get kicked out by the janitor or some students who reserved the classroom, lol

cool… it might be time for me to create a separate thread for Alex Arcade Ran Bats Series too. Community Colleges of Orange County need a thread too haha.

ATTENTION UCI GUYS AND THOSE IN THE SURROUNDING AREA (LQ GUYS, WESTMINSTER, FFN, etc)

i’m thinking of holding some sessions at my apt on the weekends, sat or sun. nothing big. just something for people who have nothing better to do on the weekends. it’ll be like a small off shoot of the UCI group so i’m not making a separate thread. i have room for about 3 setups with 4 people a setup, so like less than 20 people. i have one big crt already, but no console or sticks. so this is really on you guys. basically another place for people to gather and play for free. i’m just gathering interest for now so lemme know here or via PM when you’re available if you’re interested and then i’ll go from there.

Just sent a request to join the fb group. Looking for some people to play ssf4 with locally ^^

Just added ya. Welcome!

Results?

Jeff has them. As soon as I bother him for it, I will post results and standings.

darryl forgot to bump the thread so um… bump >.>

first post has been updated.

Oh yes, thanks Tau!
