I voted yes, because the concept could still be done well. Given the testing the design got in TvC, I’m sure they could implement them much better in MvC3.
keep the giants! EVOLVE!
The thing that really bugs me with the Giants, is that usual it tilted the character selecting dynamic to deal with such monstrosities. technically, the same thing could happen in MvC2 but the differences where not so vast. In TvC, only a select few had the tools to handle them (oddly most where on the Capcom side of the scale), everyone else had to tough it out with the PTX or Lightan…
It’s not something that I would invite twice without some SERIOUS revision. Given that Capcom is saying MvC3 will be for 2011… then the answer is a rather stern no!
Giant characters are boring to play against. Would rather have real matches.
I don’t think anyone had to really change their playstyle to beat Gold Lightan, most of his attacks were so hideously slow you could do a super and still have time to block. PTX was certainly better, and more gamebreaking for lower tier characters, but that’s just like heavy grapplers in regular fighting games: they polarize matchups to either win consistently or lose consistently. What’s wrong with the Vs. series getting its own grapplers?
It’s not “a select few who could defeat them”, it’s the other way around. The Giants have more bad matchups than any other character in the game.
And it’s fairly obvious you don’t know what you are talking about and have never really played TvC, so that is enough out of you. “Most on the Capcom side”? Go ahead and tell me the two best characters to fight the Giants with, and I’ll give you a hint; they’re not on the Capcom side.
Sentinel and Galactus vs PTX and Wiseduck. Get Hype.
What if there were 3 sizes? Example:
Iron Man>Human size>1 character slot
Juggernaut>Small giant>2 slots
Sentinel>Giant giant>3 slots
A little more variety and strategy involved this way. Or, it might suck.
good idea actually. Hulk and Juggernaut really should be drawn larger anyways, than guys like Ryu or Wolvie.
Could we also get Trion Juggernaut???
Uh you have no idea what you’re talking about. A good PTX player needs to worry about a lot more than just that, and there is PLENTY of room for strategy, lockdowns, pressure, movement, unblockable setups, mixups, resets, chip damage setups, etc.
Please make sure you look into it a bit more before you just say shit like that. PTX is a solid mid-tier character in TvC, and you will get NOWHERE just sitting around ‘managing super armor’. That is just asking for Tekkaman Blade to get in and make life hard.
It does matter where PTX is on screen, because if you are just standing around being over agressive, any character with Tekkaman assist, a command grab, or any other armor breaking attack can just nail you for huge damage, and Giants in TvC are very fragile. Giant players cannot afford to make mistakes because they can’t regain life. This makes the giants notorious as being some of the hardest and most complex characters to play effectively in TvC circles, and it has been this way since CGoH.
Giants = more design space
Honestly, I’m expecting a lot of Ultimate Alliance characters to appear in MvC3. If there’s going to be multiple giant characters, I’d expect at least one of them to be Yellowjacket. Not exciting, but hey, speaking of design space, what if Yellowjacket was a normal-sized character who could increase his size to a giant character? Conversely, he could shrink down to Servebot-sized.
Would it be balanced? WHO CARES!? IZ MAHVEL BAYBEE!!! We’ve got enough “serious” fighters out there. I want to see something crazy. I want to look at the game and say, “Oh my god, did they REALLY do that!?” That’s part of the excitement of the versus series.
No, I said “handle” not “defeat”. There is an importance in wording that you have missed, as it does make you argument fall rather flat. This does lead to some rather bad match-ups… but not on the fact that they are poorly designed (which in all honestly, they are… which doesn’t help things) but on the fact that the select few happen have more than enough to handle them and keep them from making any offence. The rest could just deal with them anyway.
Yeah, again with the word play. I said “most”, not all… with it what you seem to be insinuating that I said. And yes, that does take into consideration that two of the best don’t fall into that bracket. So really if you want to have “enough of me”, I really hope that you have better than this.
Am I the only one who is slightly amused by a giant Mango Sentinal?
I certainly hope you aren’t.
hmmm, as much as I want Marvel to stay Marvel and TVC to stay TVC, I don’t think I’d mind seeing a giant if the options to compete were there.
And for those not wanting to lose Sent all you have to do is have Sent as a regular (bigger than average of course) character and make Master Mold a giant with more options.
sentinels size always made me lol in mvc2, hes enormous in the comics but in the game hes only a little bigger than hulk. even though i hope we dont see sentinel ever again not because of how he fights but rather i never was a fan of sentinels in the comics due to an ugly design IMO but if hes back, i wouldnt mind him as a giant
Man I sincerely hope they add giants. I want to be using a Megaman in his armor , Sigma , Mundus and other giant characters, Nothing says go hard or go home like facing a giant
Giants sound like a waste of character slots. Would rather see MvC1 secret characters come back than giants. I’m not sure if giants worked like gold war machine, but he should be similar enough for you guys.
Idea would be great Bloodia vs Sentinel, Giant Man vs Hugo, Megaman armored vs Mecha War Machine. It would be pretty cool just have the characters take up 3 health slots . I am all for fresh new characters in Mvc2 . All the giant characters between the two companies they could add in a few of their greats .
