Playing on an Unpatched Version

Hey all,
a local tournament organizer is holding a MK9 event next week, going to be using 16 Ps3 for the event, a statement was made that the game will be played un-patched, is this right? should they not update the game and make it fair to everyone playing?

another question, is it possible to update the game manually?

TO’s need to make sure latest version is on the PS3s/360s.

But GoogleMyName aka Alex Jebailey has to download SSFIV AE on 28 Xbox 360’s in ONE night for the CEO tourney.

Unfortunately you gotta do it online, and no matter how many consoles need updating, its gotta be done. Its part of being a TO.
