Play Station Network and Store access

I am thinking about buying a PS3 in the coming months, mainly because I want to play the HD Remix of SFII Turbo and also to play SFIV, however although the country where I live in is PSN enabled for online gaming it does not have the PlayStation Store. I heard that the only way to buy SFIIT HD Remix will be from the Store.

Someone told me that if I register my PS3 in a country where the PlayStation Store is available (like the UK for example) I would get access to the Store as long as I had an internet connection.

Is this legal? Would I get into trouble if I resorted to this? Are there any disadvantages in doing such a thing?

I would like to have access to the Store and I simply cannot understand why Sony did not give access to the store to all European countries. After all they would make more profit. I would appreciate if someone could give me an advice on this issue. Thanks.

You probably would be better off finding a friend (IRL friend is probably better) that lives in America or etc. that would be willing to game share. You can make an account with another country, but your credit card/etc. won’t work. Since you’re not from that area.

In the end, until Sony universally releases PSN cards, you really can’t do anything at the moment without game sharing. So yeah…

Hope I helped.

Ouch didn’t know that were was this credit card issue. So the credit card must be issued from the country were you register? Do they check the address or something like that? That’s a bit of a problem for me.

I still cannot understand why Sony didn’t create an EU wide account. It’s a bit like creating an account for the US but leaving some states out of the equation…

Asia has PSN Giftcards, and the US is getting them very soon. You can buy the giftcards and use them in the store, instead of having to have a credit card from the region your registered for.

When the US gets PSN cards, you could most definitely import them. I’m sure, or I hope, that by the time they (Udon) releases SF2HD, PSN cards will be widespread in America and you can import it! =)

mastercard doesn’t check the address

What about Europe? Will we have cards in Europe? Or maybe I could buy them from ebay.

I have Visa not Mastercard. Does Visa do a check on the address then?

yeah it does:sad:
i think the japanese card will work on a eUROPE account not that sure tho

Thanks for the info. Guess I’ll either have to either (1) wait until Sony implement the store in my country, (2) get a Mastercard or (3) go and live abroad! Hehe.

PSN Questions

Good morning all!

I was thinking about getting a PS3 eventually and was wondering how the PSN works? Mr. Wizard was kind enough to answer my PM stating that this service is free, which is AMAZING! I always thought I had to pay for this, but anyway. When I buy a PS3 do I have instant access to the PSN? How is the quality of this service? I have Xbox Live and rarely run into issues but if PSN is free, what the heck…should have both.

Just want to make sure it runs well and what is involved with getting started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PSN is nothing like Xbox Live. I will say that now. Comparing how far each one is in a race, Xbox Live is beating it out the water, but PSN is catching up slowly.

Sadly Xbox Live is not even available where I live…I’ve heard it’s much better than PSN and much more supported in Xbox games.

Thanks guys!

Yea I figured that would be the case because Xbox Live is a paid service. Paid services usually have a bigger budget to advance technology and keep things up to pace with excellent quality.

That sucks Ruben that you can’t get Xbox Live. Maybe you should call them up and see why you can’t and when it may become available. I’ve bitched at them before about things and they seem to get things handled, when you “bitch” to them.

I think I will still get a PS3 since the games are on Blu-Ray discs and they hold much more information, but for online play (at least from what you guys are telling me) it is better to stick with Xbox Live.

Holla!

Well I live in Malta, a small state in Europe with a population of only 400,000 people. I don’t think they will bother for such a small market. :frowning: Ehh and to think that Italy which is only 96km away has the full service makes it even more frustrating!

What I don’t understand is why Sony and Microsoft don’t give us a Europe wide service. What is the scope of giving the services to individual countries and leaving some out when you could give the service to all of Europe or at least to the EU states? It would make more sense for them as well profit wise.

You would think all of Europe would have this service since there is a market that at all. The US and Japan obviously have the best and largest markets but I would say Europe is number three.

Oh well, crap happens. Usually its bad crap through…I doubt I will enjoy the PSN since Xbox Live has never given me a problem.
