Guide Update

  • Added Item section
  • Added Bari Shur description / basic strategy

Things next:

Abandoned Mine write-up
Small stage write-ups
Rins (really just need to write them into the guide, munoz did most of the work)

Work on it is slow because… it’s been a long process. The fun part was the combo list, everything since has been enlightening and whatnot–studying the game but it really wasn’t “fun”.

Also, apologies to razor because I know you said you’d do the item section, I just wanted it done today so me and a buddy wrote it up.

anyway, for anyone interested read through the item section and see if I missed anything or something seems out of place, it’d be appreciated.

I feel like I’m about to give this game up. It doesn’t really seem to matter what I do, even if I outplay everyone I’m still losing through silly uncontrollable factors. 99.9 deaths because of being tired, rampaged, or hit in the back is quite an unapealing experience.

Play dirtier is the only advice I can give you, TDM is basically a tire fight lately. Or, play with friends. Randoms don’t help.

EDIT: And tag battle is always SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER mode, which is why I enjoy it.

That’s how the game is, though. I don’t get why you people want to play this competitively – it’s not a competitive game. I don’t even play FGs and I can tell you that. Of course people will use tires and surprise attacks – that’s the reason they bought the game. For the ANARCHY. Yeah there are tons of flaws, but stuff like tires and surprise attacks are fine in my book. The “crutch player” idea is kind of stupid cause these things are in the game and meant to be used. If you wanted some complex 1v1 combat in a controlled environment, why not play VF or Tekken or something?

Pretty much this. People expect too much courtesy in a game where there is none. Complaining about surprise attacks. Or being angry at people for jumping them in TEAM Deathmatch. Items. The list goes on. You can’t expect 1v1s to go smoothly when it’s an 8 to 16 man match. It’s just impossible.

Sounds like you play too all-in like, you need to be a lot sneaker and dirtier in this game.

It’s easy to not get killed by rampages if you run away from people with a full rampage bar aura. It’s easy to not be tired and impaled if you keep track of your surrounding, and use those items yourself when you can.

Everything else is just a random factor, you could be on a 10 streak and get mauled by a super mutant(insta kill) or get lasers to death by Cthulhu after it teleported you right in front of it.

I think random chances like that make this game even better. It’s boring when everything is predictable and easy.

And if you’re losing, you aren’t outplaying people.

How you feel is how you feel though.

I play plenty dirty. I lean into people from behind into KW combos. Fear can tell you how many times I just swooped in and put him in a cinematic the second I saw him press a button. The problem here is that it depends entirely on people. When I’m in 3rd place why is 4th place team hounding me? Then first place team just sits in the back swooping free kills and solidifying there score? What happens if 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place start pursuing 1st so they can get the big points for a comeback or at least stop being dumb and starting reckless mob fights while the top scorers just sit in the back building up a bigger score.

You only have so much control in this game, and the gap in skill is always wildly unbalanced in any given room, so it doesn’t matter that I seem to be the only that thinks it might be a good idea to pursue high scoring, or players who are turtling in the back looking to swoop kills.

And I don’t know if people are just stupid and like to pursue me ackwardly because my name pops up on the Internet more than it should, but in a game where people can die in the blink of an eye off of a single button press, it makes no sense for people to be walking out of matches with zero deaths and several kills, because every kill they have, they could have been killed in the process of attempting it, but nobody has any clue what they are doing, so every match just lopsides in favor of certain teams and playstyles.

Oh, I get what you mean about teams being stupid, and I felt like that many times, too, when I used to play. Like “wtf I’m fight the team in FIRST PLACE, you should too!!” But at the same time, you are not telepathically linked or anything, and most people WANT to win, but don’t know how to.

But then you have to apply the same tactics as the first place team. Hang on the outside and steal kills. If your partner is weak, leave him for dead, if your partner is good, he should be able to defend himself while you run off to grab items. You can 100% combo people, but you have to make sure no one does the same to you. And it’s easy to get out with several kills and no deaths or 1 or 2 deaths. I still can’t do it myself and I used to think it was amazing, but some people told me that it’s not really skill-based, just a matter of picking your moment and playing as dirty as possible. Camp, kill steal, then run away. Imo the game shouldn’t encourage this kind of play, but with few exceptions, that’s how matches play out. If first place team is too good, just try and outscore them by fighting the other two teams.

I know on Xbox, unless you are playing with your friend and/or rocking ME/GM, that’s the only way to play and do well. You are on PSN, right? If you are talking about those infamous neon6plz/Aldalome tag battles, well from what I’ve read on GFAQs, no one tries to win those.

But I agree about unbalanced teams. On Xbox you always end up playing a TDM or Tag Battle where you either end up on an OP team or against an OP team, or playing with a random guy while the other three teams are two friends playing with each other (and in party chat so they can coordinate themselves).

Did you just realize what game you’re playing?

-Don’t trust or rely in anyone too much, even teammates.
-You ain’t dirty enough, player.
-People winning with 0 deaths do it because they are careful and know how to avoid death and bullshit, and they were lucky enough to not get caught in the unavoidable bullshit.
-People who are high scoring are high scoring for a reason. It’s better to work your way up from the bottom than trying to attack the top. Chances are they know how to not die, trying to kill them would be a waste of time that could be spent killing easier targets, wether you do manage to topple them or not.
-Focus on obtaining end of the round bonuses when you can.
-Sometimes it’s best to be the guy “turtling” in the back swooping kills.

  • Steal Kills, a lot.
-Don’t start fights with full health opponents, unless your fight starting move damn-near kills them.
-Things can go from awesome to shit, and from shit to awesome in a second.
-It’s Anarchy baby, expect and accept the unexpected. Embrace it.

Now I doubt any of that will help you or convince you of anything, but whatever.

I’m still an avid believer in prioritizing anyone who managed to pick up level 3, Power Leveler or otherwise. If you see an Ice/Electric type at level 3, kill the bastard. He can and will make use of that element and boosted health to get easy free kills, so use any means to prevent them from using it. DO NOT FIGHT A LVL 3 LEGIT IF YOU ARE LEVEL 2 OR BELOW. It doesn’t matter how well you outplay them, they just have too much health and overall advantages to be beaten conventionally. They’ll run and recover their massive lifebar and start again. There’s a reason these people go 9-0 besides general awareness. The moment they swoop 5 kills, they’re a lethal force and should be treated as such.

You guys should post more of your videos, they are cool to watch since I’ve all but given up on playing this game.

What’s up with all the scrubby ME-using Durgas lately? This is starting to become common. I mean they’re not hard to beat. Just annoying to deal with all the time.

But seriously when the balls do people play this? I was sitting waiting for a match for like an hour. Its like nobody’s playing and then when I do find a match I just get my ass handed to me royally…AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Ok I’m done whining.

For most of us, it tends to happen during the late afternoon or the evening. I’m Central Time, so right around now (9PM, going on 10PM) is when activity seems to be at its peak. It kinda fluctuates though from time to time, but that’s generally when most of us play. Then, three or four hours later, Japan begins to show up and there be nothing but Team Battles, lol.

Online > Custom Game > Any(all options set to any)

Should get you into a game later in the day.

Are you on PSN? because the PSN community is a lot more lively than the 360 one, mainly due to the Japanese players(though depending on your connection, where you are, and how many of them are in the lobby, you’ll get slightly more lag than usual).

Alright. Guide is fucking done. For real this time. If anything else gets added, it’ll be other peoples work. I didn’t feel like doing the small stages so it’s not perfect by any means, but what is?

Old vid :o

Found a Zerker in TDM on Oil Rig. First time I got a chance to ride one too.

A little soundtrack discussion was long overdue. The AR character theme subject has been sporadically debated around the net since the game’s release last summer.

I did some thought in the distant past and came up with my own personal picks for AR’s officially designated character themes. Most are obvious and universally recognized as correct. However, there are some debatable ones I’ve assigned on my list. They are marked via asterisk. If any of you think my picks for them are wrong, then feel free to tell me why. I like hearing other people’s ideas.

Furthermore, I strongly believe that Jack, Baron, and Nikolai each have two themes.

“Chaser Man” Jack - Sound The Alarm / My Pride

Da Blackest Baron - Days of Old / Gotta Get The Cash

Mr. Nickles - The Hand of Science / Venom

Leo - Testin Me

Max - Unlimited Resources

Sasha - Here We Go

Ninja Zero - Demise

*Mathilda - Laughin At U

Big Bull - Over In A Flash

Oinkie - Soon Enough

Rin - I Know U Want Me

Fei - It’s All About Me

*Ai Rin - Kill Em All (or Merciless)

*Durga - Play My Ass Off

Jamestown McMotherfucker - My Town, My City

The Garbots - We All Soldiers

Boss Mr. Nickles - Find You
