Platinum* Games new game. Anarchy Reigns

I figured as much. :stuck_out_tongue: I do something similar to what you said, but it seems there are people who are able to braek out way faster. I dunno if they’re using turbo controllers though.

Yo Anon, do you use turbo controllers? You seem to mash pretty fast in your vids.

My bad, should’ve carefully read your first post. I read “you will enter a rampage battle with the ball” as “you will need rampage to battle the ball”.

Nope. The two greatest factors in determining if you’ll win a clash are lag and who presses the right button first. Even though you don’t see the meter swing when the button to mash changes, it still happens. Of course the speed you mash at matters, but you’ll get a lead in meter if you mash the right button before your opponent does. If you feel like avoiding clashes then you can actually block while in rampage. Weird, I know, but try it. Also, you can mash jump. You won’t enter a clash if you’re in the air. I still never run away from a clash anyway. I always try my luck. I only bail out if me or my team has the lead.

I haven’t been uploading stuff to youtube lately because xsplit breaks the sound on my streams and recordings when I local record while streaming. What’s up with that?

Yes. Working on a vid. Online none of the logic in stuns and trades matters because nothing can possibly be timed properly for it to count, you just have to play defensive enough and be careful.

Nice. I think I understand, but then online just confuses me.

Ugh, I don’t understand how some people are so consistently good at this game. I mean, does knowing how to play Street Fighter or Marvel or any other fighting game at a competitive level really help that much? I know how to do juggles, I follow discussions about this game obsessively, know all the tricks, and my I’m still a lvl 50 in name only. As in, while I do have some great matches, I’m nowhere near the level of others. Like there are people in Tag/Team battles that have crappy teammates and still hold their own, sometimes even getting more kills than deaths! Holy shit, that’s insane. Than in death match there’s always this lvl 50 that gets killed like once while getting lots of kills, meanwhile I’m just doing average. It’s like they’re always at the right place at the right time. People say that Durga is great for kill steals and that Rins can spam their air KWL, but every time I try those things I just get flipped upside down. How the fuck do you become a pro at this game?!

On a side-note, I had a couple more questions:

  1. I’ve noticed that some people can charge their HKW, but they can somehow “cancel” this charge. I tried a few things in training, but I couldn’t figure it out. It’s not common, I’ve only seen like two people do it (Anon and a guy I played with today).

  2. I’ve heard you can hit people between evades. Is it possible and if so, is it possible to perform during actual gameplay?

I don’t know what to tell you besides play cheap and use every glitch, trick, and cheap tactic when you can.

Are you on PS3? Wanna spar or something, or team up?

So how is this game? Worth picking up and getting into or is it dying/people are too good to catch up?

keep guard pressed for a little bit.

You have to hold guard (RT) but let go of KW stance (LT) (And Y too I believe I can’t remember)

Also, the number one rule to remember if you want to win more often in this game is DO NOT DIE. Dying is the easiest way to lose as, say, if you’re ahead by a large amount and die to the second or third placer, they just gained a fuckton of points, you just lost your levels (HUGELY IMPORTANT AS THE HEALTH GAIN BONUS WILL SAVE YOU FROM DYING COUNTLESS TIMES), any items you had, and you’ll be fighting for that top place again as the person who just got your points is leveling up (harder to kill them with ToDs without someone interrupting you).

Team matches and kill point matches are a bit different, but it’s still important to stay alive.

This is why you’ll see a lot of people trying to run, especially with Master Evader. Keeping points is more important than gaining them. Slowly, surely and safely gaining points instead of grabbing a kill and dying will grant you more in the long run, especially when you consider getting to level 2/3 for extra insurance HP.

This is also why stealing kills with cinematic KWHs is better than with non-cinematics. The chances of gaining mutilkills is pretty tempting with non-cinematics, but it’s almost never worth dying for them.

Best Fei combo. launch -> 360 -> j.KWL repeat.

I’m on 360 unfortunately. I dunno if the PS3 playerbase is bigger, but it’s definitely the one with a more active online community. The 360 board on gamefaqs is basically dead and even the 360 players post on the PS3 boards.

I think my big issue is that I play too aggressively instead of waiting for the right moment. I guess in that sense, if you’re a fighting game vet, than you’ll have an advantage.

I didn’t think about points, though. That’s something I should keep more track off. I had a couple of BRs yesterday this Fei Rin with only 2 kills and 1 death came in 3rd while I had like 7 kills and 2 deaths and it was only after points had been awarded on the results screen that I jumped from 8th to 5th.

That said, there are still these players that deserve the title Gods of Anarchy. They’re not just good, they’re fucking incredible. I’m not talking about players with awful connections, I’m talking about people you can actually hit and combo. Just as an example, there was a guy in the BR yesterday who kicked so much ass. His connection did jump between one and two bars, but despite this he was no different than a 3-4 bar player. He could be hit and comboed, no ridiculous frame skipping or teleporting, and I even actually killed him a few times. Yeah, there’s was nothing really tricky about his connection. The guy was just crazy good. Like in the second BR he got 9 kills. 9 KILLS! He was using Douglas and I’m pretty sure he had Hard Charger equipped, cause his evades looked normal and that’s what he was using during the 4v4 tag battles (which he actually lost every single one of, though not by much, meaning his team wasn’t too bad). Anyway, I was observing him from a distance, and every time this guy would hit red health, he’d try to escape and almost every time he’s succeed. This was even when there were like 3-4 players trying to take him out. There would be a huge clusterfuck of punches and kicks and he would manage to keep his cool. I can’t do that, whenever that stuff happens, I’m so obsessed with escaping that I forget to keep track of the radar, or forget to let go of lock-on (which messes up my view), or I just get straight-up destroyed. And he’s not the only one, I remember an Ai Rin getting like 12 kills 0 deaths (though she was using Master Evader) in a BR and a Gargoyle going 10-0 in Tag Battle. Sure, it might be easy to get that many kills by targetting the weaker players, but to get away with 0 deaths without Master Evader?

It’s also kind of annoying that in the bigger, more chaotic modes like team/tag battle and BR, guard breakers don’t work all the time. Often players just evade before the delay or the guard breaking move hits. And even if you hit them with regular attacks, they can just quickly let go and re-press guard to “recharge” their shield. Not even three KWL hits break guard and guards are so easy to tech out of.

Also doesn’t help that every time you’re about to finish of a player, some idiot comes in and interrupts you, letting the red health guy escape. >.>

I may need to start recording more videos to use as tutorials for how to get better at AR.

If only I had ps3. I’d whoop ya’ll for not using the new shit.

It’s pretty necessary…unless no one’s doing it lol.

I’ve never seen anyone do it. I’ve never done it because I’m still not good at it and I wouldn’t want to drop it during a match.

What’s your gamertag? I’m thinking of a couple of really good players right now, let’s see if my guess is correct.

I had a pretty good day today and yesterday. Kicked a lot of ass with Rin Rin and there were many other lvl 50s as well. I’m proud of myself. I even had a couple guys raging at me. One of them had a Scottish accent and called me a “bad guy” for using Durga, lol.

GuyYouMightKnow

Oh yeah, I’ve seen you around. I think I might have had a death ball game with you a little while back. It was me, you, some guy named thatboyyouknow or something like that, and some other guy. The opposite team had an annoying lvl~30 Bayonetta and this laggy-as-fuck 1-bar Garuda. He was teleporting all over the place and none of my hits would register. I’m pretty sure he was going 1-bar on purpose (he always had like 3 bars in the lobby). You were actually pretty damn good! I think you scored like 5-6 goals and manhandled the Garuda despite his trippy connection. He even rage quit halfway through.

I don’t really understand what’s up with the connections. Some players are laggy on my end, but fine on others, yet those others are perfectly fine on my end.

Though, to be honest, you’re not really someone memorable. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though! In most cases, if I remember someone in this game, it’s because of how annoying they were, either because they were laggy as hell or because they abused ME.

Anyway, since you’re also on 360, tell me if you’ve ever faced these players and whether they gave you any trouble:

L4ast Exile: An annoying Baron player in every sense of the word. He has a 3-bar connection, but he behaves like a 1-bar player. He doesn’t have the OHKO, but his divepunch takes off like half your health, he can escape out of juggles midair, and he uses ME so he’s next to impossible to bring down. He’s probably also a fucked up individual irl. He spent a team deathmatch session literally hunting me and ONLY me, and I have no idea why. He did this for like four games before I quit. Hell, in the last one he focused only on me to the point where he ended with 1-1: that one kill was me, that one death was from me (no idea how I pulled it off). And I had a few death match session recently, but this time he was on my team. It was 4v4 and everyone was lvl50. The other team actually worked together, but this guy just ran off on his own and did whatever. He wouldn’t even bother helping another teammate while they were being juggled. Probably to busy stalking someone on the other team.

I don’t understand these people. Like wtf’s the point of buying a game with your hard earned cash, taking the time to learn it, and then pointlessly dicking around online? You gotta have a hell of a lot of time or have virtually no life (or lead a very sad life). It reminds me of that Izayoi Sakuya guy who was a nuisance when the game was first released. He was an intentional lag-Baron and he was annoying as fuck. What kind of pleasure could you possibly get from being a cheap ass motherfucker? If a player loses they eventually quit, that’s all. Plus I don’t understand how that would even qualify as a win. It’s not a show of legit skill so I don’t understand why you’d be proud of having 14-0 in BR just because you intentionally exploited a glitch that no one can really counter. Reminds me of when Brawl first came out, and you’d spend an hour waiting in the lobby. You finally get a match going and there’s this Wario who spends literally the entire match taunting. I mean, Jesus, don’t you have anything better to do? Go study and do something productive for civilization, for fuck’s sake.

Anyways, other “notable” (for being insufferable) players:

PapaBearPrime: Same as Last Exile. He’s a 3-bar player in the lobby, but glitches all over the map during actual gameplay.

thatboyyouknow: Never had any bad experiences against him, but I don’t understand wtf he was doing during that death ball match. Before you showed up, we lost, but he still came in first place despite having not a single goal. He wasn’t helping out, he was just somewhere all by himself juggling a random player. If you’re gonna play, than PLAY, don’t just dick around doing whatever. I mean, what kind of pleasure could you possible get from doing the… things that these players do? I’m legitimately interested in case anyone has an actual answer to that.

There are a handful of 1-bar Fei Rins that are always annoying to deal with. gikkus778, Teh Paradox and a couple others I’m forgetting. I’ll admit that in the case of gikkus, it’s not really his fault. He’s in Japan, so it’s understandable that he has a 1-bar connection.

Deadlock336 is another annoying player. He’s laggy and uses ME. He can’t kill you, but you can’t kill him either. If you face him, it just ends up being a huge waste of time. And he has Last Exile’s annoying habit of stalking you for entire matches.

That said, there are some really good players out there. Harlequeen XNZH (the hard charger Douglas I mentioned earlier), BlueShock, Dr Noah Body, and an Ai Rin user who’s name I can’t remember, and few others I’m forgetting. It’s just that guys like the ones above ruin any possible enjoyment when they show up. Any tips for facing those guys in particular, if you’ve faced them before?

On a side-note, someone should set up an AR fansite or fanforum where all members have to agree to not using ME. I don’t mind GM, but ME is some annoying bullshit. I don’t like using it, and I always get screwed by people who do.

I hope I’m considered one of those good players. I try not to do anything too cheap, like using ME to run away all the time. I prefer Power Leveler. If I ever do stalk one player, it’s usually just so I can get the payback bonus, or because I know they’re tough and I want to keep them too busy to mess with the rest of my team. I do remember one time I was in a match and the guys playing were complaining about me being too laggy, so I just decided to quit attacking for the rest of the match and left the lobby after that.

And I’ve played against those guys you’ve mentioned plenty of times, Magnum. I more or less agree with you. I played deadlockk for like 20 cage matches in a row and only managed to win two rounds. I did manage to almost kill him plenty of times though. Baron does seem to be the toughest character when there’s lag.

Playing some matches last night, I realized that getting ganged up on really sucks.

If anyone’s interested, I like to sometimes record and post my online matches: https://www.youtube.com/user/StarOutlaw9
I also tend to only post matches in which I do well, since it takes a while for me to render and load ten minute video. Let me know how I’m doing, because I’d hate to be a bad player in any sense of the word.

Deadlock, Harlequeen (lives in Europe i think so awful connection) gave me hatemail for a while. The latter still does. But I recognize a lot on your list, yeah.

Harle is actually one of my xbl friends (because of this game). Doesn’t seem like him to give hatemail, but I suppose I don’t really know him that well.
