Ok so there is literally no region for us even though they released the game here… Well I’m screwed for buying the game I guess. It’s fun but unplayable online for me.
I don’t think you have time to roll on the ground then evade twice before a KWH hits you
Don’t try to dodge to the side against those attacks, they track really well and will just meaty you at the end of your roll. Try dodge through them. You might even get to punish them, though I suggest you find a good way to whiff punish the Rin 360’s or it won’t accomplish much.
Rampage Marauder is probably one of the best abilities in the game, I don’t think it’s actually possible to lose to someone unless they also have it. I don’t like using my rampage to try and get easy kills, and I don’t even like to use it to save myself either. I like using it when I can barge in on someone else’s rampage to deny them any potential kills in addition to essentially killing them for free. It’s even better in TDM where you can use it to save your teammates from rampages and totally ruin any potential benefit the rampage might have given the other team.
I don’t see the point in Sprinter, I don’t know about Douglas, but Garuda and Bull both have ways of moving that are faster than regular running anyway. Douglas has a divekick, so I’m guessing he also has good ways to move around.
The only time guard master will really help is when you could have just been smarter and avoided the entire situation in the first place. It gives you a ridiculous increase in something that you really shouldn’t need to rely on.
@Darksim, I agree with Rampage Marauder. Nothing else seemed worthwhile, although I do like sprinter because you run faster than everyone and you start running basically right away. But having the ability to deny anyone a Rampage helps your team and/or your final score during the last minute of a game. It’s really valuable.
Guard Master is godlike. It’s very easy to end up in a situation where you get snuck by some instant guard break attack, have multiple people on your ass, or get caught in cluster fuck. Guard master minimizes the random, and it’s also useful if you need to turtle to regenerate life.
And the people who are good at this game are the ones who will avoid all of that. I’m serious.
Evasion Master or whatever it’s called also gets an honorable mention due to it being a truly safe way to dodge your way out of crap, though it isn’t that much better than just being smart, which is my point. The abilities that give you something that you cannot make up for by being a better player are the best abilities in the game.
Doesn’t matter how good you are though. There’s no way that you can avoid every situation especially with stuff like random stage events (Especially those that funnel all players to one area) and other players who chase you down. I generally win all of my rampage clashes and I only really use it defensively so I can waste other people’s rampage and perhaps kill them, so for me, that ability while great is not so great. Guard Master gives you constant solution to rampage.
Peeps need to be pro like me and use Stealth Master and Power Leveler
Also great skills. Baron with 1000000000000000000000000000 second stealth is one of the scariest things in the game.
Some JP or EU Baron (1 bar) hit me with L,L,Shinryuken and it combo’d. 100% damage. I couldn’t even mash dodge out between the 2nd L and the Shinryuken. I turned the game off and went to go get some coffee
Just got this game and started the campaign on Hard. Durga and Garuda pushed my asshole all the way up to my bishounen face. Forgot this was Platinum Hard and not regular game Hard.
Really enjoying this. I’ll hit multi as soon as I finish the campaign and get my unlocks
But what about when you get killed by someone with Rampage Marauder?
You can always not enter the area that people get funneled too. You die, lose your level, but lose no points a promptly respawn with full health. You could always try entering the area after the majority of players have and steal some kills before they notice you. In fact, these are the prime times to unleash your own rampage and go full retard. And nobody without their own Rampage Marauder is going to stop me.
On Guard Master, I really do think you could always avoid a rampage by being smarter. But my biggest problem with it is that you don’t feel as though there is anything wrong with doing nothing but blocking when you could be actively finding a new way to kill someone else.
Damn i love this game this shit is fun as fuck when you play with people other you know rather than with randoms. Thanks x and anon for helping me level up and get more characters i think i got 3 from our runthrough survival.
Then that’s an L you have to hold. I could easily spin it and ask what about when you don’t have rampage and you get caught slipping by rampage users. I guarantee that situation is more likey to happen than the one you suggested because not everyone picks Rampage Maruader, since there’s other useful skills available. The fact that GM is in constant use and not situational is what makes it a good buff. Anyway this conversation is what I think is good about the skills in this game; even though skills are stupid broken none of the best ones have an absolute clear advantage over the others imo.
Well losing a level for no reason is not really that good because having a high level makes you much harder to take down. For instance; if poison activates it drains your life but does not kill you. Now, quick players will wait at the safe spot and slaughter everyone who comes in. Sometimes I would just stay in the poison area so I don’t run over there just to die, but then I run the risk of someone spawing near me, hitting me with a jab and killing me. Also if I stay in the poison area, I’m pretty much just letting other people get kills that I could be getting and losing the match. With GM, I could just go to the safe spot and block my way out if I felt threatened.
I hear you, I used to run into those people all the time in the demo. Anyone who only wants to turtle is not getting kills so I just left them and didn’t waste my time. You need to balance your offense and defense.
I was using Takedown Defense today.
Hmm, not sure if I wanna try to play tonight but I’ve managed to get my DL speeds improved. Maybe that’ll help my recent stream of lag. Then I’ll start Sir Jamestown McMotherfuckering yo asses.
But it isn’t in constant use. It’s only used when your guard would normally have been broken. I, as are others who I play with, are good at avoiding that. Part of what teaches you how to avoid that is being unable to rely on something like Guard Master in the first place.
You can’t teach yourself to consistently mash a button faster than all other humans. The same kind of thinking is present to an extent with abilities like Power Leveler. You simply can’t level up as fast without it. It gives you something that you can’t make up for by being a better player. I don’t think Guard Master is bad at all, but I think people shouldn’t rely on it in the same way people shouldn’t rely on Takedown Defense to play the game for them.
I hope this isn’t reaching MvC3 tier thread level arguments, I’ve never entered the thread so I wouldn’t really know, but still.
Mad Survival seems to yield higher gains than regular Survival
especially when you’re scoring 90% of the kills ;D
Still, this comes back to my point about not being able to avoid absolutely everything. Epecially against smart players.
It’s not so much relying on it but, the fact that if you already have great defense, then GM will give you near impenetrable defense. This allows you to defend in any random situation that would have been too overwhelming regardless of if you have good defensive skills.
I’m gonna give RM a whirl when I unlock it though. I just think most of the skills are good in different situations. I hate skills anyway but you gotta exploit the good stuff.
I know, just when they do pop it and you get into the DBZ style crazy hands they inevitably win the exchange and go into some crazy stuff. But like Emusaman or whatever said I’ve just been using it when they have little health and try to block it all, it wears them down easily.
Game is hella fun though, going to do some Horde stuff tonight to get a feel for the connection from my angle.
Anyone else feel like Enemies by Shinedown would perfectly fit a music video about the Battle Royale mode? Not dissing the current soundtrack just that Rock is in my bones ^^;.
