Platinum is an outside developer, SEGA has a # of games contract with them. Any publisher can go up to PG and try to do this, Konami has. They can approach any publisher as well I bet.
Currently bugging Capcom to bring them in so Kamiya can finish V. Joe and a new Okami. DMC is too far gone at this point.
