Hello everyone,
I’m Adam and I work for OMEGA SEKTOR in Birmingham, England. We are the biggest gaming centre of it’s kind in Europe (we have close to 400 high-spec computers with over 100 games). We held the CGS combine for UK/Europe, Kode5 and all sorts of major gaming tournaments. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, let me talk about what we have planned next!
We have created the OSPL (Omega Sektor Professional League) and it’s met with great success for games like Call of Duty and Pro Evo Soccer 08. Now we’ve been given the go-ahead to host Fighting Game tournaments! Personally I’m excited because I’m in love with 3rd Strike and Tekken, and I haven’t really seen a BIG league/tournament for fighting games in the UK. Ultimately this is intended to be THE tournament for computer games and that includes the oft forgotten fighting game scene, so at least you guys can say “I was there first”.
Here’s my question to you all : What games are considered relevant and on which platform should it be? I’m aware that most players will bring in their own sticks and pads because even I use my own personal stick, but I need to know what is the safe choice for running this tournament. PS2 or XBOX? Dreamcast? Neither of these? I’d also like to know which games should be considered for the tournament. 3rd Strike is a must because I want it But what about ST/MvC2/KoF/Tekken/DOA/SFA etc… I’ll keep asking you guys questions if you don’t mind, because I’ve never played any fighting game competitively before and I won’t know where to start with ladders and rule sets.
So to recap my question :
What games to be played?
Which gaming platform to use (XBOX/PS2/Other)?
What are the standardised rules for games suggested?
Anything else I should know too!
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
