Reason I said it was stacked at the time was that I traveled to last years showdown in order to get a better seed for the final sbo tourney. Marn and myself were the highest placers, but one side of the bracket is stacked with me fubar stone marn all on one side…which is actually most of the skilled players on one side of the bracket. With that being said there was no point in actually going to showdown…not that the tourney was fixed or anything, just highly stacked torward tx locals not only from a competitive standpoint, but a financial standpoint as well… Not many players are confident enough to travel out of region to a single elim tourney and win - ended up doing it twice and traveling to TX 3 times, so yeah…

We had no strong 3rd, it was just me and latif.
Not to mention we actually had the worse bracket because the way it was setup.
Me and latif didn’t make it to singles, but talking to ramna nad kensou for a bit we were able to convince them to have us put into the team portion.
When you play in singles, the higher you rank the more points you gain, giving you a better chance in fighting against weaker teams.
We had 0 points, so chances are we had to play the best team.
We were able to take out everyone except for Kensou team which had Kensou/Fubar/Jan.
But, about the brackets.
I can’t say for sure if the brackets were rigged or not during the team tournies, but marn was complaining a lot that the brackets were fixed. But kensou kept telling me that they are not fixed and are set to the “point systems” as explained earlier.
Sorry, but I don’t recall what team was position where in the bracket.
All I can say is that our first team we did play was Marn/Alex G/Flash, and the semi-finals was Kensou’s team.

So does anyone have a list of whats owed to tournament winners? Wonder if SBO is aware of this guy not paying japanese players. Surely if he has money to fly people out to Japan and afford all these new cabinets, he has the money to pay tourney winners.
I could be a little wrong here but, to me it just seems like Zinac is being kicked off the team simply to allow Kensou to go to Japan. That’s just me. Its really sad to see drama like this go on in the SF community.

And yes, Nokato, that seems to be right. If you saw the AIM log with Pozerwolf, he talks about how the original plan was for the Latif/Pozer team to win then drop their 3rd guy for Kensou, and thus Kensou was cheering the loudest whenever they won a game.
They figured there was no way a non-PZ team would win, plain and simple; Arturo was the only previous non-PZ player to ever win one of their qualifiers. That’s why they didn’t feel the need to mention the PZ rep requirement in the rules.

The setup of the event wasn’t a good idea to begin with IMO. How can an event be called a qualifier if you DON’T get the spot after winning the tournament? I think Emogear tried to compare his format with tga Andy’s, but the difference is, with TGA’s SBO quals, the people who won each tournament won their spot for SBO, which means what? They QUALIFIED. Henceforth calling it a “qualifier”. What was the use of even going if PZ were stacking so many things against you even having a chance at going to SBO?
