Philippine Top Players Thread 3.0

Nope, more like… 10~ish

Hey guys i went to SM north edsa 2 days ago and got a few 3s matches in. I was the big dudley/hugo/chun player, did I play anyone who posted here?

Not too many people play 3s, but its good to see people playing mvc2 and tekken.

^^ I wasn’t able to go

So who are the popular characters in the Phillippines right now for each game?

In America:

Third Strike: Besides Ken, Chun Li, and Yun, players are winning with Makoto, Ibuki, and Alex.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2: Its Magento, Storm, Psylocke, Dr. Doom, and Sentinel.

So are there mostly American machines in the PI or Japanese machines?

If I may without sounding too forward I would also like to ask about the ethnic landscape of the Phillippines. I know I am an outsider who is looking in but I’m curious about my motherland.

My friends father said there are a lot of foreigners buying land in the Phillippines. These foriegners are not Filipinos from abroad but they are non Filipinos like Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Austrailians, and others. Is this true? If so what part of the Phillippines do they settle?

I talked to this mestiza girl (half filipino/ half austrailian) who was born in the Phillipines but moved to Australia and then later to America and she told me that her Austrailian father use to own land there and run a whore house there. The scum bag father left her and her mother.

I know this sounds confusing but the question I’m trying to ask is this: Are foreigners who are non Filipino really buying a lot of the land in the country? And do some of them exploit our women like the Austrailian guy did? I always hear from people in America that there is a lot of prostitution in the Phillippines.

I hear that the most beautiful native filipino girls marry these type of foreigners because they have money and create beautiful mestizas like Iwa Moto. Yes they may be beautiful but a lot of them have a messed upbringing because the parents are not both Filipinos (Not always true).

I know this post sounds confusing because I’m American Filipino who has no idea of what the Phillippines is like. I just want to hear some comments from my filipino brothers and sisters from my motherland. If I somehow offended anyone I did not do it by design only by accident. If offended anyone I apologize.

I’m sorry I’m asking these questions on shoryuken.com but I thought its one of the few places where I can get good responses. Peace.

Mostly Jap machines. Astro City and Candy cabs abound. I don’t think I’ve encountered an American machine yet.

Here we go. Like always, this is from my experience/knowledge, if you have other pov’s, post up.

Yes there are lots of foreigners, but I wouldn’t peg them all as buying land buyers. Yes they do buy land, but most of them come here to set up businesses, legit or otherwise. There’s already a solid Chinese community here, and they are known for being entrepeneurs, whether it be surplus clothing/rags, market stalls, whore houses, cocaine labs, betting parlors, etc.
A relatively new trend with Americans, is to come to setup call centers. That’s why there are lots of small call centres, which usually shut down as quickly as they start up.

Yes they do. But you have to understand in some ways, the women here want/expect to be exploited. Many if not the all of the people here grow up with the sole purpose of moving abroad to greener pastures. Those that stay and wish to have a career here are far and few, patriotic, and pretty damn stupid. (I would be included in the stupid section).
So that’s why there is a whole plethora of Filipino caregivers, nurses, etc, cause these give you the quickest (lawful) ticket out of here. For those that can’t, prostituion is the key.
When they see a white guy, they see their ticket to the States. Screw love and all that jazz, they just want out. If you take a look at the personals on craigslist manila, you can see the desperation on both sides. You have the middle-aged white guys who couldn’t get some at home, so they try to score with the native women, who will do anything for a little green. And then you have the native woman, who are just looking for a way to get out, and if that means getting with some Joe from across the globe, so be it.

ROFL. At the beginning I thought this was a joke/bait post, and this somewhat seconded that opinion. Iwa Moto is definitely on my “to do” list (even though she has gotten a bit thicker since her FHM shoot, but that works for me), but there are way better examples of “beautiful mestizas” other than Iwa Moto. And just to be an ass, she isn’t a metiza (white + filo), she’s a chinita.

Like I recommend to all filipinos, half and full, that grew up abroad. If you ever want to know about the “motherland” (lol wtf, this ain’t russia) there is no better way to find out than to visit/live/work/study here.

This post is a jumbled mess cause I’m writing it in a hurry here at work, so if it doesn’t seem to make any sense, it probably doesn’t.

Iwa Moto is not that pretty.

Ya I agree that Iwa Moto isn’t that hot but she did looka really good in that FHM top 100 girls of the Phillippines picture. In that picture she has the “proper thickness”. A distinguishing trait in Filipino women. It doesn’t mean they’re fat but just proportioned right. See Alley Bagget (Half Spanish/Half Filipino)

In America its kinda the same here with Filipino girls. The ones born and raised in the United States usually date and marry outside their race. That goes with most Asian girls in America who are born and raised here. They usually love white guys.

Does anyone out there know the Hahn family? They own businesses in the Phillipines. One of the families has a daughter who is a pop star. Her name is Mikiala (Can’t spell it). If so please tell me about their reputation.

Oh ya name some hot famous Filipino girls so I could look them up. Peace.

Ehra Madrigal for me.

There’s been some sort of Marvel activity back at SM manila again (risen from the grave) although the comp isn’t “SM Megamall” calibur yet.

Pretty much the same here, for both games. To add:

3S: Lots of good Urien players. Occasionally, a good Hugo player pops up.

MVC2: The big four, Clockw0rk, IM, Doom AAA, CapCom AAA, the occasional Tron (proj),Blackheart AAA, Cammy AAA and Anakaris.

kumusta all? i’m just a local player here in the states but the only thing i can remember was being owned in marvel by a female playter at centerpoint. I was a noob then n i’m still a noob now lol. hope to play some of you guys when i visit in january.

Im one of the Alimall 3S original players… our group still meets but these days we rarely go to arcades together… The only thing that might group us in one place again would be a tourney or a “Grand DAYO”… If you like we can set a sked in advance for a playdate. You can contact me on my YM >>matrix_dro

BTW, in case you’re wondering im the one who plays Elena on the team

I haven’t seen an elena yet but shrug heheh, I think I’m only willing to go as far as SM north for 3s since my main is marvel, maybe when I get a lot better =p

As for marvel, Clockwork isn’t popular and only ONE player uses Anakaris fairly well.

Strider/Cable/Doom is more popular than clockwork here.

Storm/IM/Sent or Storm/IM/Psy is way more popular than IM/Doom teams.

Rare Spiral trap users, but there are good players who play Spiral/IM/BBhood THC teams.

And yeah, a bunch of Mag storm sent and cable players.

Storm/Cable/Doom is also more popular. Cyclops, not much (I’m one of the few cyke players, at point or assist-wise)

Also, not much commando players, Storm/Sent/Cable is spammed a lot, most of the players call it RP Team/Team Philippines.

Last thing, MSS teams are usually Sent-ground instead of rocket punch shrug

Lord Sharky goes at SM North… maybe you both have played 3S already…

Never played with an Elena player yet… well im the only one in our team who seriously plays with that damn character… You should try me… wink!

BTW, any of you guys know where can I DL the 3S soundtrack?

^^ that’s because of the level one settings. during our short experience in level 1 settings here in davao, ahvb is still very deadly, that’s why they prefer cable.

^^ some of my friends encountered one good spiral player with that same team 2 months back here in davao, that’s probably him you’re talking about. he said he was from makati. never got a chance to play with him though.

but i got vids of him at hosted.filefront.com/piponaz < if you wanna check it out.

anyone wanna play over kaillera?

very well said…

Perhaps anyone here wants to revive 3’s tourney?

Could u help us Kane?(tnx)

^ sure what do you need?

Hey guys, imn here back in Los Angeles. I wish I coulda played more people from SRK, but thanks to your recommendations, I played some people at SM North Edsa.

I also went to Hong Kong and got some games in with one person there who wasnt that good, but after beating the game, I saw the 3s high scores, a yun player had a few MSF grades.

Going back to the Phillipines after 10 years was defintely an awesome experience. It’s a vacation much needed, and I had a great time.

Things ill miss:

Going out… Cheap cheap cheap drinks, I can spend $20 for an entire night of partying, here, I spend $20 for entrance.

The girls… while I didnt see too many good looking girls besides at Embassy, it was fun playing the ‘American’ role

Cheap food… food is TOO cheap there. My first night there, I went to greenbelt and then 24 hour mcdonalds. A Mcdonalds value meal is only $1-1.50 here, a meal starts at $3.50. A big difference. Everything was pretty much cheaper there, except Starbucks and stuff like that. Ill also miss Figaro and Quickly.

Things i wont miss:

Traffic… I cant really describe how bad it is, but imagine driving with no rules whatsoever, none. Thats how it was.

Weather… There was nothing nicer than coming back to L.A. and being able to walk outside without sweating like a pig. I cant stand sweating in general, so I woud always be rushing to the AC. Here in L.A., it could be 100 degrees outside, and feel like your skin is burning, but you still wont sweat. Its very different.

Thats all for now, but if any other ‘balikbayans’ got any questions about the motherland, feel free to ask. It was a very eye opening 5 week vacation for me.
