Petition for Morton Salt to Sponsor Dromstruction Tournament

YES!

god damn exposed that salty scrub

Oh my god YES, they should be sponsoring every single tournament.

YES! LET’S GO!

The salt will be raining down rivers if this happens.

Yeah this is a brillaint idea.

Jin: Hi Mortons, I was wondering if you would sponsor our competitive endeavor!
Mortons: What exactly are we sponsoring?
Jin: It’s a tournament where we play video games all day!
Mortons: And why would you want our company to sponsor you?
Jin: For when people get salty!
Mortons: Salty?
Jin: It’s when people are personally upset / distraught / in anguish over their loss to their opponent. It refers to the taste of their tears that they cry after losing.
Mortons: So you’re negatively associating the actual purpose of our product and somehow you want us to sponsor it regardless of that?
Jin: Yes!

Good luck with that.

Try to think about it logically instead of crying about it.

We use the term salty because it’s referring to the taste of your tears cascading down your cheeks to those dry lips that are cracked after losing that long grand finals set. It’s not a term with positive association. Why would a company whose product accentuates adding salt to please your taste buds want to sponsor a group of people who use the term negatively like that?

Derrrrrrrrr

You thought I was being serious? I’m pretty sure this entire thread is one big joke.

Okie dokie loki~

You already know!

Stay away from sales/marketing?

They would want to do it if it convinced enough people to buy their merchandise.

Something I’ve learned over the past month or two while putting this event together: Got an idea? Go for it. If it doesn’t hurt anything and would be a positive if accomplished, then you should just do it. If it doesn’t work out, life goes on. If Morton Salt says no, even after a bunch of support, our event still goes on. But if they say yes, we get to deliver something the crowd would love.

I’m just a dude who has been putting on small tournaments for a few years, but I’ve been able to get NEC Displays, ASUS, IPW, FKO, Aksys Games, NOS Energy Drinks and more that are still in the works to support this event. I’ve had a ton of emails and messages ignored, but life goes on and I send out more the next day anyway. This thread might work. It might not. If it works, that’s cool. If it doesn’t we’ll all survive the aftermath.

Nope not really. I saw something I’d like to deliver, and I’m doing it as best as I can. Let’s get there!

I’m not hating on the hustle bro, far from it. I know where you’re coming from, and I’ve been there back in the dark ages of no stream land.

But linking me to their store to show me that they’ve got Salt Butcher clocks for sales really isn’t helping your point. All the equipment you listed is just that, equipment that people have shown interest in purchasing in the past and still do. They are relative to our community. Energy drinks make sense as well, but salt, something you use to cook, preserve food, and to add flavor to whatever you want being a sponsor purely in relation of being an asinine slang term that ran its course years ago is really pushing it.

Let’s say they get on board, what are they going to sell to the fighting game community at large? Beach towels? Salt trays? Maybe that sports bag of theris can fit at TE in there? Hell, actual SALT?

Clue me in on your thinking process here.

They make a shirt that was on the site a week ago. Must have sold out. If a large group of people that aren’t in your normal demographic show interest in your product, you sometimes cater to them. I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m saying I’m going to try to make it happen. The shirt I remember was decent. Who knows what else they have.

I can’t get behind people saying that the term, “salty” has run it’s course. People say it ALL the time at sessions and in the forums. Kineda’s Store is sold out of the salt shirt he offers. I’ve seen people show off the Morton Salt pin they got at a convention and people crowd around and get excited and envious. Over a pin! I appreciate the rational discussion, but I see people excited about something, and I will do my best to bring it to them.

Hey, you do your thing.

If they sponsor you that’s awesome.

As for saying its run it course, well it has for the most part.

Ah well~

Somebody mentioned Salt of some sort?

Damn the haters, it’s a clever idea. Signed.

You do realize that the only way for this to work is if you can guarantee that majority of those either going to the tournament or watching the stream will but Morton’s salt after the sponsorship.

I just don’t see any reason why a company like Morton’s would go for this. It’s not exactly positive brand recognition or even easy to explain why it’d have appeal. Have you tried asking a smaller hipper salt company? Though I can’t imagine any salt company trying to market itself as hip…

If your running a tourney you’d probably be better served getting a deodorant sponsorship.

Need to get Glade or Febreeze to sponsor.
