it might not make any difference, but i have a widescreen tv and i still switched to regular because i like the view better. anyone else?
If there any hassle I bet it will just stay fullscreen. Been playing that way for years anyway. I like wide though.
i’ve been spoiled by the widescreen + HDTV combo…
you just can’t possibly go back to 4:3.
…seeing it in 4:3 and with a CRT = looks like ass.
im torn on the 2 right now. i feel really clausterphobic at times in widescreen mode. 4:3 is obviously the tried and true visual representation that takes really no adjusting to, visually. But I do like my game, filling the screen, and making it look nicer. Still up in the air, for me
I think the game looks better in 4:3. The sprites already have weirdly sketchy lines and its amplified when zoomed in
Widescreen. It looks better in 4:3 without the zooming, but 4:3 monitors and TV are non-existent these days. I doubt tournament organizers will be willing to run it in 4:3 on a 16:10 display when they don’t have to.
I think it’ll be fullscreen just so that everyone can get used to it that way regardless of what kind of TV they own. Plus, it’s wayyy easier for tourneys to get ahold of SDTV’s than HDTV’s.
Not directly related but definitely relevant: on a widescreen TV, SFHD can output the zoomed (widescreen) or normal (fullscreen) image at any display resolution, so the game can still look fantastic regardless of whether you’re in 16:9 or 4:3. (I am curious as to whether the “drawn at 1080p” art was made for the zoomed or the regular view though!)
I’ve never personally seen the completed release of SFHD in widescreen mode, but I though I heard that previous versions suffered from some issues during very fast movement where one character sprite would be almost entirely outside of the screen’s view. Can anyone comment on this, and whether or not it still occurs?
After widescreen I simply cannot go back to 4:3 ughh I can’t imagine how anyone who could.
Widescreen mode here. I’ve been playing that way for the past 2 years anyways. All I had to do was adjust to the zoom, and it was fine. Seems like the same difference to me though.
4:3 for me.
I can’t think of the game in widescreen terms. It messes with my spacing, particularly with Vega or Chun li.
Also, 480i on a 37" Component TV is still very very good looking.
