Players who are interested are going to see you guys saying “i dont think the game will last in the community” and decide not to get it because they think it’ll happen too. Lost some potential new players.
And that also discourages people from investing more time into the game or quit sooner because they’ll think other people will quit eventually.
It’s said enough outside the P4U player base, you guys don’t want to shoot yourselves in the foot.
If you’re enjoying it, keep playing it and share the fun.
Well I’m getting it and I’ll probably replace sf4 and make this my main game. I’ve not heard any single legit reason for disliking the game. It seems to have generated a lot of interest and it has a solid netcode. Tbh I think ppl that say this game will die are scared that ppl that play marvel and AE are going to switch to this one. Just my opinion obviously.
The game is fun though I personally don’t see myself playing the game for too long. Due to TTT2/DoA5(coming out next month. DoA5 being my main once it drops. Honesty if Elizabeth didn’t play like shes does, I wouldn’t have gotten the game. She is such a fun character. One thing I learned is that rank means nothing in this game. Lots of bad players with a decent rank I played in ranked.
One thing I really dislike is the game showing lobbies that are all private. Always feel like more than 50%-60% player lobbies are all private. Then the open lobbies are high quality connection(have to wait till game determines the connection, if it does that is). Its quite annoying
Game is fun, looks great, each character is very unique and the netcode is a blessing. Overall I give it a 8/10. Definitely a game worth getting in this current period.
I’ll say it like this- What Ono said he was trying to do with SF4, being an accessible gateway game, which of course was PR bullshit, P4A went and actually did it.
I don’t see it as something that can replace the best air dashers like GG and MB but it’s a fun, “lite” title that’s a little rough on the edges (first version after all) and has a lot of potential to grow and improve.
While MB for me is THE example of accessibility done right, at least P4A doesn’t do any offensive compromises for that. Which means they still did it better than Capcom.
Yeah, from what I see, a lot of people are mashing out and that’s actually working. This is one of those block heavy games, I see.
I’m also having a general problem with mitsuru over all. She’s like, super safe and nothing I can do can really punish her. Bobbing and weaving only works on dumb players, but the good ones always mix it up with overheads while i’m bobbing from her persona. Not to mention her charge strike has almost instant recovery, so I can’t even punish it.
I find this comment kind of strange. If scrubs “always kill games for you” how is that a problem mentioned in your review that’s supposed to be about this game specifically? If its “always happening” sounds like a problem you have with fighting games, rather than a problem with this game…
Being a scrub only gets you so far, even in this game. I don’t see how anyone can be complaining about balance - the balance is really good and it’s far too early to invest too much in hard/easy matchups (like some people seem to be doing around here already).
If by scrubs you mean mashers, once you learn the mixups that the easier characters have, and learn how to recover from their pressure, you can easily see progress as you improve in the matchup. People just havent figured out how to get around gimmicks yet, and if your having problems with those kind of “scrubs” you are one of those people.
Some would say that complaining about losing to scrubs/mashers/gimmicks instead of putting in work to learn how to beat them would be a fitting definition of a scrub, no?
But I have a feeling you may be mistaking scrubs for a smaller learning curve. This difference between this game and others is the controls combined with the mobility/evasion options, you can get by without maximized combos, as long as you have solid fundamentals. By fundamentals that means not just the games fundamentals (taking advantage of bursts, OMB/OMC, smart use of meter), but the specifics of your char (oki for Chie for example). If you have that down you can pull off wins, although you won’t win as much as someone who actually did optimize their combos, but you can have good fights. Does that make you a scrub just because you didn’t maximize combos yet, even if you have the complexities of your character down? I wouldn’t say so, hell a lot of tournament players don’t have maximized combos for games that been out a long time and that doesn’t make them scrubs. And I’m actually happy people can be somewhat competitive regardless of if they are better or worse than me. And skill still shines through in the end - people who “should” be better than me still win more than me. More fun skill based fights = win imo.
I mentioned why - yes it is a problem I have with a number of games, and this one helps them moreso than others and deters them the most from playing any better.
Who is talking about losing? I have an S rank Shadow Labrys with only about 145 matches played. I cannot play at a higher level metagame becase the general metagame of P4U online is really low, and it’s low because of how the game helps out scrubs so much.
It’s boring because of this. The defensive options in this game and how easy they are for scrubs to perform, make you afraid to take any offensive actions.
Don’t get me wrong, the game is good at high level…it’s just bad at low and mid level and I feel it’s design make few players want to attempt to reach the high level.
Edit: And also, I really tried to love the game…especially since I’m a HUGE Persona 3/4 fan. There’s just a few things giving me negative feelings towards this game right now.
It’s bad enough when we have fagballs like fchamp shitting on the game so ignorantly. If that’s the way it’s going to be people really need to support this game as much as they can and stop worrying about any inside or outside naysay. It’s just a fighting game, it either plays good or it doesn’t. This isn’t some kind of lifestyle choice lol.
As far as I’m concerned though, this game is ridiculously good. Play it. Anime games and all that bullshit aside, this is an incredibly good game, and I cannot wait to level up more and more, because it’s only getting more addicting as the play level gets higher.
My only gripes so far are the increased burst bonus for the A strings, the really fucking stupid DPs having super cancel property all daaaaay (please just take this shit out, you got baited, take the hit asshole) and I guess to a lesser extent counter B+D moves working against throws, that’s just dumb.
Anyway. Play on SRKers. And pick up the game if it looks even remotely interesting to you. I hate anime, and anime games, but this shit is growing on me hella fast.
I just think that’s very presumptuous, especially so early in to the release of the game.
The games been out 2 weeks, how could you come to the assumption that people don’t want to improve? Most the people who got the game are either true fighting game fans (who obviously want to improve) or Persona RPG fans, in which case I’d think if they are still playing the game after 2 weeks and after they finished story mode they most likely want to improve.
Give it time. It’s a completely new game and a lot of people are still experimenting with characters, how much high level play do you really expect at 2 weeks?
This is my first “anime fighter” as well. I’m sticking with Yu because he seems pretty regular/ Ryu like. I do like Mitsuru though and Chie looks crazy.
Learn the appropriate baits and punishments for each DP before you complain. This ain’t SF4 and you can punish DPs with an easy 60-70% fatal counter combo if you know your shit.
To answer the TC’s question, this game is amazing. SSF4 (With Omega Rose lol) was the only other current gen fighter to get me online 3-4 times a week. I cannot get over my crush for Aigis and will not stop playing this game until I reach God Mode with her. I am not fairing too well against players with hundreds of matches but I can block so there’s still faith. Hopefully none of the characters get the Rachel 2.0 treatment. Easily the best 2D fighter in ages… oh wait… Forgot about KOFXIII.
The game is great. We’re in an age where there are plenty of good games to choose from, but P4A delivers something different from the other popular titles, and for me it’s the game that’s really going to pull me back into the scene. I’m not sure how to describe what I like about it; it’s like (in smaller amounts) it combines the strategy of BB, the honesty of SF4, and the pacing of Marvel. It’s impossible to feel bad after a win or a loss, and I feel like we’re still learning so much despite it having been out in Japan for a long time. 10/10.
This game seems to borrow a lot from other games but feels unique. On paper this game should not work. There is too much going on, so many weird elements that the games balance should be out of whack. But it’s not. The universal systems in this game really give every character great potential. The OMC, Universal Overhead, Furious Action, Persona Break and mobility options make for a crazy experience. TBH, even though I have GG experience (albeit very seldom) the amount of options alone make this game a daunting task to pick - up. That being said it’s also very addicting.
I’m having a lot of fun learning this game at my own pace. I’m not great yet but learning. Shit is hard to block at this stage mainly because I have no idea what I’m blocking. With a new baby, band practice, full time work, maintaining my house, and writing and illustrating a graphic novel. I have virtually no time to play this game. With any (if at all) free time I have it should be dedicated to the ol’ ball and chain and it’s instead being shifted towards Persona. Mighty fun.
I’ve loved it so far (a lot more than I thought I would). It’s easy to pick up and have fun with but has tons of depth for people looking to dig for more. Whether I win or lose I still have a blast playing it and the characters are all fun.
As an arc game its an major improvement. But still not my prefer game and I still think gg is a master piece and prefer to play that. But perdona starting out strong which is rare for ip like this
