BB was never as strong as GG for various reasons. There were even tournaments GG outdrew BB despite being the older game. So a lot of it depends on whether we’re sitting here in a month calling this a slow defensive unbalanced baby game with bad characters where you can win with Mitsuru and half a day of practice. (I reckon about 50% of that statement may be true)
There’s some extenuating circumstances as to why BB is as dead as it is anyways.
These extenuating circumstances, care to tell me what they are? Serious question btw. I tried getting into BlazBlue for the longest time and it was just eh to me.
Not being at Evo pretty much made Extend dead on arrival for majors. I don’t think that being a disk game after the CS/CSII DLC helped.
CSII changes made a lot of people drop it because they didn’t want to relearn shit but that’s not really entirely unique.
Can you or someone else please explain why BB was seen as inferior to GG? I didn’t play GG seriously (although I did played the fuck out of the game, casually). Immediately upon getting blazblue (I was late to the train…started near the end of CS1 in 2010, played heavy in CS2 though), I enjoyed it and about 1.5 yrs later i find out about the stigma that BB has (in relation to GG).
Someone care to explain? The only major faults i find with the game are the updates that keep changing characters nonstop which is fucking annoying, and which also temper with the game balance (which seems to never be perfect with this game…but then again it’s not TOO bad. What fighter’s balance is? Other than the legendary GGAC of course…)

Why are people expecting the BB community to pick it up? Just because it is an anime fighter developed by ASW doesn’t mean that community will automatically migrate to it. People should have learned that already with the example of Guilty Gear community with Blazblue. Of course some players will cross over, but ultimately P4 will develop it’s own community just like Blazblue did.

Edit: I’ll also just throw this out there on how P4U is different then other fighters in general and how big this game has in untapped potential. The Persona Series has been an established JRPG series for over a decade and the localizations of the series sold really well in the states. P4U is a CANON SEQUEL to P4. This is **BIG. **Since the Persona Series has been all about STORY,CHARACTERS Deveopment,MUSIC,and of course the PERSONAS. The Persona series has a pretty sizable fan-base over the last few years especially since P3 got released and what is likely people will buy this game even if they have not played fighters before just because of the above reasons of what the persona series generally is.
If Kingdom Hearts were to suddenly have a 2d fighter game in similar faithfulness that P4U seems to be doing then it will not just sell like hotcakes, but potentially helping the fgc as a whole. Thats the advantage of having an established fan-base and making a faithful sequel in a different game genre. This is the complete opposite of how Skullgirls dealt with since they have to start from scratch and develop a fan-base the old-fashioned way while P4U has a decade fan-base from the jrpg

Still waiting for Aigis moveset video. I like her new less robotic VA more than her VA in Persona 3. Yes, I’m aware they’re still voiced by the same person but I can’t be the only person that thinks they sound fairly different.
