Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

I must be playing Kanji all wrong because I never thought he had advantage in that matchup. Sure vs a sloppy player you can punish, but Narukami has range and pressure for days against Kanji, in my experience.

If you’ve gots Yukiko vs Kanji info, believe you me when I say I’d LOVE to hear about it since I still get messed up by Kanji there too.

Kanji is probably my 2nd easiest matchup when using Narukami(Naoto is 1st). Sure Kanji can deal a ton of damage, but he has to get connect the counter hit first and Narukami has the faster moves and safe pokes for fishing the counter hits. Yes Narukami damage is underwhelming compared to Kanji without the meter (although WITH meter and/or a 1 more burst he can deal TON of damage ending with more 50/50 overhead setups). Kanji DP is easy to bait and i never use Narukami DP unless im positive he is not trying to bait me. Narukami 5D Oki off the combo ending Sweep honestly forces kanji in blockstring for many seconds and he can only fish for a DP (which i can punish a whiff DP with 2A easily into a simple BNB)

All in All as long as your familiar with the Kanji Matchup he is gonna have to struggle to get a command grab in or any of his shock BNB stuff. Narukami HP is not too shabby either at 9500 i believe so he can afford a few mistakes unlike Naoto,S.Lab, Elizabeth

Can we get this translated to english, anyone…or atleast into move motions.

Chrome’s translate feature got a decent amount of it for me.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s already being worked on.

They need to do something worse for these rage quitters. I had 5 in less then an hour. I’ll take it as a complement but fuck those losers.

So I brought this up week 1 and haven;t touched it since. This game is pretty MU heavy, anybody else here think it’s viable to run start working on a 2nd character to cover bad MUs? It’s pretty common in other games to see this happen.

It’s certainly possible, but it depends entirely on your main. Like, I don’t think Yu, Mitsuru, or Teddie have it so bad with matchups that you’d need a secondary to deal with bad matchups. I’m not sure on Chie or Akihiko though.

I think it’s valid, but some characters really don’t need to worry about it, especially Narukami (whose only real weakness is low damage). Also, learning to deal with your bad matchups with your main helps make you a better player.

They will eventually get red on them. Then you can simply filter them out or kick any reds. Luckily i had no issues with rage quitters recently

This, most importantly.

But I don’t think any of the upper tier characters really need to worry about counterpicks, and if you’re going to bother counterpicking as a Liz player or something, you might as well just switch characters entirely. I don’t think there are really enough characters to make learning an entirely new sub worthwhile, unlike say Street Fighter, where you can use your sub in 4-5 different bad matchups.

There’s also the fact that most of the bad matchups in this game are frankly not really that bad, with very very few exceptions. Most of them you can overcome pretty consistently by just playing better.

Shabrys/Yukiko can get pretty ugly if you’re a Yukiko player, I’d say though.

Cast isn’t large enough for a pool of viable alternates.

On a different note, am I the only one who prefers “S.Lab” over “Shabrys?”

It’s definitely worth learning a second for Elizabeth vs Mitsuru. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a counterpick, just someone that doesn’t get obliterated as bad as Elizabeth.

The thing is though, most of the characters that do well against Mitsuru tend to do well against the rest of the cast.

Maybe, but “Shabrys” is more fun to say. Like when you’re playing the Killzone series, it sounds slightly more amusing to refer to the Helghast as “Spatzies” instead of “Space Nazis”.
