Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

wiz is starting to sound like the typical idiots of this site, talking about games that he don’t play neither understand, though i shouldn’t be surprised, this is his site anyway, lol
it is like he also got nerfed with the 2009 influx

it makes you wonder, what game does he like?

You guys put too much stock in Wiz. He isn’t the only person who chooses games for EVO and the group doesn’t even do it by choosing their favorite games. They choose games which are new and/or have the largest following. It’s the right decision, too. Since SRK was started by Street Fighter enthusiasts it only makes sense for Capcom flagship fighters get the most attention. The other games depend on their respective communities, really. Tekken, DOA, GG, and Mortal Kombat, just to name a few, all got their players together and made a showing at EVOs.

I guess I’m just tired of people complaining when a Street Fighter site hosts tournaments that favor Capcom fighters. I hope some of you realize how dumb it is needing someone to point out that glaring fact for you. If you want us to take your game seriously, and I for one would LOVE to watch some P4A at EVO along with the new GG, you gotta show Wiz and the Cannons you’ll show up. Others have done it, there’s no reason you can’t do it too.

Anybody have any tips on using Labrys?

The problem doesn’t come that this is a capcom fan site and that they throw tournaments for capcom games.

The problem comes that since 2009 evo is not longer a tournament for the games that have a community, but one for those where the sponsor throws more money to get their games in the line up. No seriously, it was pure luck that MK9 and SCV ended as solid games, but after the whole fiasco with SFXT, believing that just because the names behind the game are enough reason to allow games without any sort of proven community behind them to get in the line up is just shows how EVO has changed.
The worst part, is that when i really dislike SFXT and think that is pure garbage, there is still a community behind the game (don’t ask me why), yet in some way he seems to be pursuing the dead of the game, and with his comments, he seems to be on the same ship for this game.

It is even worse because he is behaving exactly like the great amount of ignorant fuckers of this site, loathing and talking bad of games that they don’t play, neither know how they work.

There was a time were wiz said that srk is not a capcom community but a fighting games community, he no longer seems to believe on his words, for the way he acts and behaves, and the way that he has been managing evo on the recent years.

SFxT may have been pushed by Capcom, but when the game was already voted in it didn’t have much time to flourish. And because it pit two of EVO’s largest groups together, Tekken and SF4 players, it was put in before the debacle and no one liking it. Then they made the tournament 2v2 so it could be exciting. But seriously laffo if you believe Marvel, AE, and KOF don’t have communities. All three drew over 1,000 competitors each. MK9 is no surprise because it did very well in 2011’s EVO and did just as well this year. If its community doesn’t show up, though, it will be cut from the line-up and rightly so. It’s been said by many FGC members that if you want a game at EVO, especially so if it’s not one of the huge Capcom titles, you (the game’s community) has to prove that people will come out to play it. There’s no reason for any game to be at EVO and have less than a hundred competitors. It’s a waste of a slot.

I don’t know what Wiz has done to “manage” EVO but the Cannons are behind the big decisions on how that rolls. And they’ve done so very well. I don’t see how you can blame EVO staff for a game not being on the line-up when local tournaments show they have little to no supporters.

(I <3 Raz0r. In a Platonic way, of course.)

Gods, I haven’t posted or kept up with this thread in forever. I blame both my laziness and my computer’s increasingly spiteful relationship with Youtube.

Anyway, in getting back to the actual game of Persona 4: [The Ultimate in Mayonaka] Arena, can anyone just point me to a page or link that’s just of the general mechanics? Maybe even a video?

There seem to be quite a bit from what little I’ve paid attention to this past…year, and I haven’t seen any threads in this forum that go over it, which is semi-understandable considering it just came out. Still…

I just figured I’d ask because since I’m semi-considering getting this some time soon and it would be nice to know what the general mechanics look like to help make an informed decision. I can pretty much gather what people have been saying about the actual game in-between all the kvetching in the last half a dozen pages with regards to most things, but having a clear(er) picture almost never hurts; I’m also completely fine with numerical notation even if I don’t prefer it.

Thanks.

waits to get ignored while someone whores attention like always

(Hmmm…posting here reminds me that I still haven’t played Persona 4 itself. …Or any of the Persona sequels, actually. Maybe I’ll buy one of those at the same time. After all, not like I make great use of my time anyway… [/musing aloud])

Oh hey. That was extremely quick. Thanks.

Once again, negativity and having low expectations triumph! Huzzah!

Hmmm…thing is almost 14 minutes though. Considering all the trouble I’ve been having with Youtube, I’ll have to play this in Realplayer or Chrome or something…

Much thanks though.

No problem. Both Persona 3 and 4 are both well over 50 hours of gameplay each, have fun lol.

This game has 91 players at Super Arcade (where WNF is held) tonight. It had 86 at WNF. Just get it.

The reason you don’t see much activity on the forums here is that there are two other forums for it:
Dustloop - http://dustloop.com/
Mayonaka Midnight - http://mayonakamidnight.com/

who the fuck is talking about letting games with only 100 entrants?
i am talking about how evo has changed from a major for the games and their communities, to something where if the publisher push enough money they would get their game in, even if it has a community of not, and worse, without knowing if the game is good or not.
Now if a game doesn’t get 500 entrants then it is no good, and ok, it is something that i can accept as long as is enforced across all the games, and not only to shun down games with smaller communities.
BTW, i like how you point that some game don’t get enough support from their communities, when in some instances (not saying that always) some TO simply would not let some games to get tournament play in their events, and others simply would not put a game that is not part of the evo line up, even if we like it or not, in some ways Evo determinates what is played on the other tournaments, since many players simply would not “waste their time” on games that are not part of any major, and many tos simply would not waste space on games that they feel would not have a descent attendance due those games not being part of the major line ups.

Now you’re just being dumb. I like that you’ve given me the opportunity to call you out on this.

Ahem…

Where the FUCK is the proof that EVO will put in any game in their line-up if enough money is thrown at it? You are making baseless assumptions and coming off as a stupid fuck because of it. That’s a serious accusation that you’re throwing around but your Internet anonymity has given you the ridiculous idea that anyone will want to read the shit you’re spewing when you have nothing to back it up.

The games EVO runs as the major titles have been the same for over a decade just different installations. AE is still a Street Fighter game and UMvC3 is still a Versus game. Where did it change? I’ll tell you where, when it opened up its doors to different titles. Something the tournament still does. We just had an EVO with SCV, KOFXIII, and MK9, none of which are Capcom games. That’s not including side tournaments. Those publishers didn’t pay anything, they were chosen to be there.

And tournament organizers don’t have to fit your game in. Once again, Shoryuken (the name of a special move of our fucking game no less) was made for Street Fighter enthusiasts. You don’t see me going on Dustloop and asking why it doesn’t shower Power Stone with the same love and attention. TOs here organize Street Fighter tournaments but you or anyone else can host a tournament for your game. Street Fighter players show up for their games in high numbers. Show TOs here your game can get the same numbers and they will be happy to add another competitive game to their roster. I’ve never seen one turn a huge scene down yet.

Get it, the game has a very active offline scene in both coasts ( week 1 had more than marvel and SF ) and the netcode is good and the online community is VERY active

What is everyone’s thoughts on Labrys?

low short x3 xx super.

or anything.

People are complainin left and right of people being scrubs, the game just came out, give them a chane. 'Sides I’m sure alot of the fans that are in for the story had to try out the fighting one way or another.

Also on the thing someone said a page back of a lot of Chie’s online: What console are you playing on? Cause I have not faced one single Chie on ranked lol

The problem comes in when people complain without exploring every option. I admit I was in that number the other day when my friend was beasting me with his Mitsuru, but after a bit of whining, I manned up, looked at where I was getting beat, and learned what my options were.
People are bitching on week one- there’s no way they have utilized all the tools available to them or even figured out five percent of their matchups.

Stop crying and get better. Or don’t. But please don’t complain about it.

I find it ridiculous that I have a harder time getting in on Mitsuru then Elizabeth. Those pokes are nasty.

Done with story mode and got my free navigator. I’m so economical

Well I’m convinced that yukiko is the worst character in the game by far, I just see nothing redeeming about the character unless you’re super god like.
