Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

No one is telling you not to buy the game. We don’t give a shit what you do with your personal life.
We are just telling you to STFU here in the thread and stop saying the price difference it causes (among other problems) isn’t a big deal, when you are not willing to stand behind your words and shell out that extra amount yourself.

Same goes for you.

Uh, if the price went up Id still buy, unless it was something absurd that I couldnt afford. Then I would just not buy it and go on about my day.

Hmm…

if you cant afford it thats cool, never said against that. its just the complaining. there’s tons of things in life I cant afford. you dont see me crying on the cadillac forums

and fighting games drop kinda fast in price, at one point you will be able to afford it, i mean are some of you arcade stick players? give me a break

There is so much butthurt in this thread man.

Dude, those are antipiracy things (except gems. gems is dlc. I don’t get it), Region locking is not an anti-piracy measure, it is something else.

And, uh, @Azure: I’m a little wary of continuing this argument because I legit don’t know enough to make a sound counterstatement, but I will say this:

inflated game prices is a rubbish argument that has NOTHING to do with optional region locking. Game prices are affected by variables that have little to no relation to region locking. Region locking is to prevent international trading of games to essentially make sure that games are sold at market price and that regions don’t cannibalize one another. (also, half the time, it’s not even up to devs if a game is region locked or not. Sony seems to be an exception, not a rule.)

Game prices, on the other hand, have to do with A) currency inflation, and B) the rising cost of video game production. Games nowadays cost WAY more to produce than they did even 5-6 years ago. Higher definition games take longer to produce, and making 4-10 GB of game costs a lot more that the <2Gb of data that older consoles used. It’s hardly an arbitrary thing, and I don’t even expect Nintendo to keep up the 50$ price tag now that they’re moving onto an Hd console
In conjunction to that, I doubt we’ll see a jump to 70$ in the next gen. at least at first. It’s highly unlikely that the technological jump between this gen and next will be large enough to warrant such a change (though a 65$ standard wouldn’t be crazy.)

But, I have digressed enough. I want to talk about persona. Anyone know if it’s necessary to have played Persona 4 to understand the story of Arena? I’m wondering because I’m currently working through 3 FES, and might move onto 4 if I can get my hands on it, and am questioning if I should hold off story mode for this game until I finish those two.

also, a question I asked earlier but didn’t get answered: How intuitive do the controls feel? what do you guys think of the double button press to do special moves concept? does it feel natural in comparison to more traditional control schemes?

Well enjoyed the P4A stream day of 1-2 american play. Fun to see a variety of characters being played to an extent (except Shadow Labrys who no one touched at least during the stream)

It was nice seeing some people try instant kills again. That was fun during Japan week 1.

Does anybody know if any of the players at EVO are writing or providing impression on P4U? It’s pretty cool to have footage, but it will also be cool to read more detailed opinions from players. I’m curious what the folks at EVO think of the game. It could get some real momentum here, I think.

From what I was told, yes. I haven’t been following too much on Persona 4 Arena since it’s announcement because I wanted to finish Persona 4 first but apparently the game is a direct sequel to 4 that takes place a few months after the True Ending. So I think it would be wise to wait on the story mode until you finish Persona 4. Knowledge of Persona 3 events aren’t really required I think as much as Persona 4 obviously. I’m playing Persona 4 right now and aside from a special event that has you going to Tatsumi Port Island and some stuff with the new Velvet Room babe, the game hardly mentions anything of importance from Persona 3 just small cameos.

Why did people stop doing Gold Burst into that chic with the gun Instant Kill?

I remember watching videos and they would always go for that with that character.
That IK looks hard to deal with

People learnt how to deal with it. Just have to avoid all the targets. It is funny when they fuck up when they know full well how it works though. I know thats gonna be my week 1 strat.

Have instant kills ever been viable in any game?

hokuto no ken, sengoku basara x

every arcsys game.

Hey now, GG players were awesome.

BB players on the other hand, yeah it’s full of douche bags and aspergers.

the fact that this comes from a 3s player makes it more funny, considering how douchey are all fo them usually

yeah that’s true. i wouldn’t lump myself in but ggxx was one of the first fighting games i attempted to learn properly.
great game.

i know right.

it makes you wonder if there a community that its not douchey at all?

Hey not all of us are like that… Oh who am I kidding, there’s some people in my local BB scene who can’t even converse like a “normal” person for at least a minute and can’t talk about anything else other than their animu. I mean I love anime as much as much as the next guy but you don’t have to talk about it all the time. What if I want to talk about import cars?
