So James Chen and I are gonna have Yu from Atlus and James Xie on UltraChenTV tonight. They’ll walk us through the basics of the game, but we’re also gonna go a little deeper into more advanced stuff and characters. Our goal is to help total Persona noobs (ex: us), but also help people who already have the basics down. When we’ve done this before for Skullgirls, Virtua Fighter, and Soul Calibur, we’ve tried to be as thorough as possible. The VF show ran like 4 hours heh.
We’d like to make sure we cover this from whatever angle people are most interested in, so if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Post them in this thread email them to us at ultrachentv@gmail.com before we start the show.
We’ll be on http://twitch.tv/ultrachentv from 8pm Pacific time until whenever we feel finished. Thanks!
I already posted a list of questions I think would be helpful to focus on for newbies’ sake on MM, but I just thought of another question, this one aimed more specifically at yourself and James Chen:
How has your opinion of this game shifted between when your first saw it and present? What impact has playing the game had on your interest in it? I get the impression that you were originally skeptical, but I have also noticed a change in how you have been talking about it on more recent episodes.
Is it difficult to switch between persona and normal attacks? Or is a persona on autopilot when summoned?
The persona is kinda like an assist, but you can control it’s attacks. Generally its one of you attacks, it’s an extension of your character. It has the better special attacks, so that gives the opponent the incentive to break your persona
I think most or all characters can cancel normals into persona attacks. But they’re not always safe. You can use some during hard knockdowns to setup stuff and etc etc. There’s just different moves you have to learn.
Thank you UltraDavid and James Chen for this. I will check the archives when i get home. I’m highly interested in learning this game.
