Anyway this game’s ranking system is crazy people can under .500 win percentage and still be ranked high just craziness. But anyway, I played the number 20 ranked guy on PSN today and I’am by no means an expert player but I beat this guy and he disconnects from the match and he gets no loss and I get no win thats just BS. I never disconnect and take all my losses like a man I just dont understand people online it isnt a Tournament paying money to the highest ranked person.
Which brings me to next point, I think its a bug or something but it seems everytime someone disconnects from me on purpose, I have trouble connecting to other people afterwards and I have to reset the game to be able to connect to a match. Anyone else have this problem?
It’s just how people are online. I’m playing on 360 and most people just want to get achievements and high ranks, they don’t care about actually being good at the game. Some people just want their rank score to show a 0 under losses, even though you realize after they dc on you exactly how they maintain that.
I never understood why games don’t just punish the person who disconnects with a loss and the other person gets a win. Sure, there will be sometimes when you get a legitimate dc and have to eat a loss, but at least it would stop all this bs.
This has been heavily discussed in other (admittedly non-dedicated) threads.
I believe the intended treatment is that, when someone disconnects, they get a loss on their W/L totals but it does not affect their rank. I don’t think the other player gets a win but I’m not sure about that. (Most of us disagree with that system but that’s a whole barrel of fun beyond the point I’m trying to make.)
My understanding is that the game has some trouble keeping track of disconnects, and as a result its methods of dealing with them are inconsistent. We’re unsure of whether this is an unwanted shortcoming of its scorekeeping (that game your were playing is literally lost), or an intentional effort to attempt to discern legitimately lost connections from bitch-quitting (ie. Oh you had the Vega desync again? Don’t worry about it!). It seems like the game is, accurately or not, somewhat sensitive to where and how the disconnect originated.
Tell me about it. I’ve played over 1000 games on PSN now. I get tons of disconnects from sore losers. I don’t care about my ranking or their ranking but its so annoying because I have to wait for the stupid message and then reconnect to PSN network when they do that. I could have played another game in the time waiting for the message (most of my matches ends before the timer hits 70 =P )
Nah this guy had like 370 wins and 6 losses there is no way that this game gives losses for discos with a record like that. And he definitely wasnt good enough to have a record like that
Yeah, in the “bad games” thread people wrote about a dude named F-U-C-K Capcom who DCs when he loses. The last I checked he was in the top 20 in rankinng with like 250+ wins and 5 losses. I even fought him once in a ranked quick match. I beat him the first round and he IMMEDIATELY quit. He didn’t even try fighting during the second round He just quit.
Wow, I remembered that name, I totally owned him with my Cammy and he disconnected on me on more than a few times already on quick ranked matches on PSN. No way that guy can be a top 20 player. I was ranked only around 1700 before the stupid ranking reset bug hit me.
It’s never really that easy to determine to actually won when a player disconnects. Heres what Sirlin had to say on the matter from a recent interview seen HERE:
On xbox, when somebody disconnects, Microsoft tries to determine who they think disconnected, and reports it to the ST:HD servers, who then does with that what they will. On PS3, they have to try to figure it out on their own, which isn’t easy to do at all.
lol i fought that guy once. he sucks ass, balls and inbetween. i never knew that about his rank. that shit cracks me up. what a fucking lamer.
yeah, ive been getting a shit load more discos on psn this last week than ever before. kinda bums me out that people can make it to the top rank by doing that. i don’t care about rankings, but its just an annoyance. i just wish these quitters wouldn’t even start. they’d save time and probably be happier.
I’ve been meaning to ask this… are the people who are disconnecting all the time sitting next to their routers so they can yank the cord at a moments notice?
Lol at this guy you’re mentioning. I can’t imagine rebooting every single time you’re about to lose, just to keep a pointless rank up. Sounds like a huge waste of time.
And one more thing these fruitcakes who purposely lag on a round to get a win then the next round there connection is perfect, that might be lower than disconnecting to avoid a loss IMO.
