tentatively interested, I wanna get my friend some more practice if possible too.
Thats cool, I got a door in the storage area we can setup so he can practice opening and closing it too.
That…that sounds so dirty.
;_;
I’m interested, btw. I’ll give you a call tomorrow. I should have two working sticks for 360 tomorrow, instead of one. No system or PS3 items though. At least they can be used for the computer if necessary.
You ever play 3s Jeromie?
… Such an innocent question at the end of the post yet it seems to have such heavy signifigance…
if we can get another ps2 stick I’d bring my ps2, 3s and stick.
Maybe…but I don’t want to look for parking
looks like my friend will be possibly giving me a ride. I will bring my ps2/3s/stick in the hopes that simon’s bringing his?
I actually have a crappy ps2 stick.
Simon, I think my wife took the car so you can park in my spot… she did, I just looked. You can park in front of my motorcycle, where my car normally sits if you know the spot.
Thank you for having me over last night Jeromie. Would have posted this sooner but I crashed as soon as I got home.
Lots of fun, think I learned a few things. Playing a new character made the game a lot less one dimensional for me.
Session was good. Thanks for playin’, guys! Will fix stick soon…
yeah GGs everyone, another good tuesday session
whos the new character you picked up?
I was playing chun…weren’t you there? maybe you left before I started playing her. Short short EX legs ultra was the highlight of my night.
oh yeah you played her a couple of times vs me before 3s started getting played on the pc, guess you kept using her after i left then thats cool i dont see that many chun li players
I love the way these Tuesday sessions have just fallen together. You guys bringing extra stuff really helps a ton. I will be holding Saturday as usual this week.
I was going to add earlier before I was interrupted by a delicious dinner…
I am going to be switching this to a more serious format, a ranbat tournament format with 10 signup slots per Saturday. I have yet to figure out how to run this but I can hold 10 people at least once a week, so if we cap at 20 total ranbat participants we can do 10 a week and then hold finals the next week, which is 3 weeks a month, leaving the 4th week for casuals and practice. I will keep running brackets and scores on my whiteboard here as well as streaming the matches using Ustream.
I will probably open up Tuesdays for casuals to replace the current casual Saturday. perhaps I will reverse the two, it depends what works best for everyone involved.
I am not an expert on running tourneys of any kind but I will set it up to be the same format as Evo since that is the biggest tourney I would personally attend, and any help will be welcome with running the brackets (Pasqual, Jetay, Ray?) but this should and will be a clean simple process (aside from the excitement of the night) and since I have the space and the ability, I figure if I build it, they will come.
More on this later, I am tired and stuffed and don’t really know how I am going to execute this yet but I do know I have the ability, venue, and desire so this is warning #1 that signups are coming soon.
While I know ten is about your cap for having people over comfortably, it’s not a very good number for a tournament. An 8 man cap would give you a very nice clean bracket instead.
Tio is a great piece of freeware for managing the bracket. For running the ranbat you may need to hit up the thread and look through what has already been discussed as well as the topic on Virtua Fight Club.
The guy at GK was talking about opening a new arcade which would have a free play night on Tuesdays similar to GK’s Last Wednesday’s (including the console setup and possibly also buy-in poker) but that’s months away so it’s just something to keep in mind if you decide to do a season as it wouldn’t be good to switch a ranbat night mid-season.
Man Pasqual thanks for stepping up so quickly with that awesome reply, I grabbed the software and will run through it a bit to see what’s good. 8 players would definately be more comfortable since I think 10 would just about fill the room, but then that’s 16 participants total over a month period unless I do three weeks which would bump the total to 24 participants with 3 top players instead of two for the finals. Ideas?
It really depends on scheduling and such. Hell, if you wanted, you could do 8 person double elims every Tuesday and Saturday, with basically two seperate leagues that would meet once a month for the upper players or at the end of the season. Players from the Saturday league could come to Tuesdays but couldn’t enter the ranbat.
Realistically, if you’re doing two nights a week, you could make one night the ranbat night which would still have plenty of casuals and the other night pure casuals. Then you could do this every week or maybe biweekly; perhaps casuals every Tuesday and ranbats every 1st and 3rd Saturday.
With one night you’re probably going to have difficulties getting in enough casuals for everyone unless you limit the ranbat to one setup (which would be feasible with 8-man double elim given your time frame).
You also have to decide if you want to do SF4, T6, or both. At this point you’d only get in one season give or take of SF4 before Super comes out so you’d have to choose whether you even wanted to do that.
It’s all about what works for you and those who want to participate.
id vote to keep at least 1 casual night(or at least mainly casuals with ranbats going on at a separate setup) and to transition seamlessly from SF4 to SSF4 even if its mid season. but thats just me, i could see some people feeling uncomfortable with their characters in the new version.
if we do ranbats we should plan them far in advance so people know they’re happening. (at least the first one) Otherwise we’re gonna have a ranbat of the four or so people who show up every week.
EDIT: Are we getting some games in tomorrow? I’m dying to practice. omgggg wtb stick. Can we have this saturday be casuals? I don’t think anyone is quite ready for a ranbat on such short notice.
DOUBLE EDIT: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7944604&postcount=1548 Haha jeromie you gotta check this out. So gross.
Read my post more closely…
We get way more than four people a week, you must have missed the 7 to 9 player sessions. Casuals are what’s happening this week. I haven’t made any final decisions on ranbats yet, and had no intentions of having them this week, just FYI.
Next Saturday could be the beginning, I may end up doing this on Friday and Saturday instead of Tuesday and Saturday because my wife will be taking Tuesdays off from now on and I want to spend the time with her.
Either way I will have a casual night and a tourney night for sure, which means I WILL maintain my existing event, I am just adding another onto it to fill a much needed space that I see I can help out with.
Grey, why don’t you ever call and ask about fighting during the week? People are always welcome for casuals.
You know I am about to grab that krang mod.
