Thanks David, it was a good turn out. Those 3 consoles certainly got used, glad we even had one for back up. Chatted a minute with the guys, looks like next week we are starting a $2 tourney next week. We have enough space to run a tourney and casuals simultaneously, so people are welcome to do either or both. Angel is also working on a few other good things to bring to the table, hopefully they will be ready to launch in the next few weeks at the crib. I leave that to better people to present, but I think it’s good stuff to help the scene along. Thanks, see everyone this week or next weekend.
ps, we have a few nice rooms coming available in our house, I would rather see friend/gamers in there, so please contact me if you are interested. I mentioned something on the main NW page; http://shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=203560&page=32
I’m excited by Angel’s work on the report card system, could be a really good way to up our game efficiently and impersonally give needed feedback. I can’t wait.
I also wanted to ask the community if a ladder system would be useful/fun for Portland (and nearby) gamers. See details of Seattle’s application of such a system and a brief overview of how it works here. We could also always go back to the idea of ranbats, though with less discussion and more implementation and then adjustments this time. Or we can avoid all of the rankings and just do the report cards only, with random tournies when we’re feeling them.
All of this needs discussion, feedback and ideas. Gimme what you got. Feel free to ask questions if you’re unsure about anything, or need more clarification where I’m bein’ vague.
Cross posted in Oregon Discussion.
I’d like to have both an open $2 tournament and a $2 new-character-only tournament this coming Sunday, starting at 8pm. Does this sound good to everyone? You can still show up fashionably late, as gamers are wont to do, compared to the 6pm starting time, at least. I think this is a good time to start stuff. Comments? Agreements?
It does look like there is going to be a quite a turn out, seems to be the nature of the house. Have been getting contacted semi regularly by people interested in the scene, some may be out tonight. That combined with the regulars and the in house crew looks to be legit, but gotta remember to call mom…
GGs last night, mad kudos to David for his efforts in getting the tournament rolling and bringing print outs so people could really understand and participate in the ladder discussion. i think my lesson for tonight is “less Dudley more Adon” lol
Edit: also just a heads up Gilley finished the frame data recently, so now on eventhubs or shoryuken wiki you can find it. hopefully it doesn’t need many corrections
fun night for sure.
