So? I can’t fathom that Capcom originally intended MvC2 to be competitive.
If its competitive enough and fun, I don’t see why it should prematurely denied.

What exactly happened to Tom Braddy in this tournament?
He couldn’t participate.
He really doesn’t need the bomb trap, the Cyrax players were just abusing it. He has enough tools without it to stay competitive.
Thing is that it isn’t competitive enough. There are so many 100% combos in Tag Team, it is ridiculous. 2v2 is broken, and they’d have to change a lot for it to not be.
I know that. Look at what I quoted. It talks about the bomb trap, which resets the combo counter after the command throw. That’s what he’s calling a glitch.
Cyrax bomb trap is kinda lame (style of play) but teleport characters don’t hear that shit, Smoke. The tournament basically confirmed that Kung Lao and Raiden are the real threats so either Lao is gunna get nerfed from saltyness or people will learn to fight him.
The tournament was pretty good, but like others I don’t agree on the forced format of it. I understand the participants agreed to the conditions beforehand and that PDP ponied up the money (a very generous sum of money), but in terms of gameplay both the competitors and the viewership is cheapened by not allowing them to use their preferred controllers. We may have seen closer and more epic matches if that had been the case. What we did see was still top notch gameplay, even if that gameplay revolved around the most broken characters. That’s probably my biggest disappointment, the tier whoring, but with 10k on the line, I guess it’s understandable.
The best part of the tournament (for me) was the promise by a lead NRS developer that netcode would be dramatically improved in the next patch.
Justin.tv - skip to 18:35 to hear it yourself.
Looking forward to watching more tournaments in the coming months, especially if nerfs make the playing field more diverse.
And here’s to hoping that the patch includes a fix that allows me the option (or to automatically) find someone online ranked near my level. My 1v1 ranked record of 355 - 42 doesn’t feel quite 100% deserved to me.
Yeah, I hear you. The comp is trash on XBox Live for the most part, but there are some great players if you wade through the masses. Hit me up on Xbox and I’ll give you a run for your money (I’m in the top 200 of player match and regularly play people in the top 50, so I should be able to give you a fight).
It’s a MK date then! I do enjoy a challenge…
That’s not what he said. He said that he’s going to return to playing SSF4 and MVC3 after the PDP tourney. He put them both entirely on hold and played solely MK until PDP. Now he’s simply going to return to them, but he said he’s still going to play MK.
