Pcb replacement recommendations?

I got a RedOctane stick from my friend’s for free so I was excited and then disappointed to find out the stick is trash but the case is great for modding. Bought some HAPP parts and replaced the stick with a Competition 8-way, unfortunately I ripped the cord that leads to the RedOctane PCB. So I’m looking to replace the PCB but not really sure how to go about that. Been thinking of just padhacking but I’m really unsure on the soldering and finding the controller I need. I think I’m going to try to Spiffyshoe’s Solderless padhack, but anyone willing to give tips on hunting for the proper controller, I’ve been searching and it seems just find a translucent one but are there any other clues like screw placement? And are there any other options for replacing the RedOctane PCB?

Series A controllers have an A on the back of the controller and it’s to the right of “Entertainment Inc.” Series A controllers come in the regular grey color as well, not just the translucent case. Also that hack is a pain to do. I recently did it and I wish I would have just gotten a regular pad and learned how to solder. Probably would have been a lot less of a headache.

Not all series A are solderless hackable. I think just the “made in korea” ones, but there could be others.

Honestly, solder hacking a H-Series pad is easier. Check the pad hacking thread.

Just what makes that solderless hack such a pain. There must be a good reason.

It’s a matter of fitting a bunch of wires into a small terminal not designed to receive them, then testing the thing out. It is really easy for a wire to go in just a touch off and cause two inputs to go off at once. The contacts on a solder job are much farther apart.
