PC version of MvC3 what do you think about it?

Jesus fuck, I wish people would get off this. Steam sales alone account for over $2 billion/yr.* A drop in the bucket of the gaming market as a whole, but there are clearly plenty of legit PC gamers who would be more than happy to give Capcom their cash for a PC version of the game.

Somewhat true.
The only thing he’s missing is some retail required things such as ensuring compatibility with all relevant Windows releases, and compiling an install package, putting in the menus and extra modes from Console releases, and removing some of the Admin options on the Arcade version.
Please correct me if I missed something, I’ve only had basic explanations during brief experience working a non-dev job at Krome, spent lots of time with devs but never got my hands dirty.
You know how Taito X2 works don’t you? It runs a lightweight version of Windows XP that I can’t be bothered to look up the full name of right now (Seen on many electronic devices, a lot of ATM’s still run lightweight Windows 2000) on standard PC Hardware (Excluding cooling, and IIRC, mainboard) that you can buy anywhere.

Now that’s bullshit.
Case in point: Shuma Gorath, Jill.
Standing up against “corporation and label” is what needs to happen more.
I don’t care if there’s another SF drought, I’ll main Tekken just like I did last time.
I’d much rather do that than suffer a mediocre fighting game (Obviously talking about the future, SFIV and MvC3 are buckets of fun) every year with 5 day one on disc dlc characters for the rest of eternity.
You’re acting like an average female, your logic doesn’t come from the mind, it comes from some weird part of you that makes irrelevant decisions based on nothing but feeling.
Pride, fear? which feeling is it, because I know you can’t think “If PC Gamers don’t get a console and MvC3 for hundreds of dollars they want Fighting games to die again” and be thinking with the brain.
(And I still hold my firm belief that only Capcom Died, I happily played Tekken Tag and 5DR tournament after tournament for years after the “Death” of fighting games)

Out of curiosity, what kind of Pc have you got running there?

What’s not to get? I’ve explained its personal preference and you want us to go out and buy consoles when we don’t want to. You want us to support the genre? That’s fine. I’ll support it when it comes out to my platform of choice, simple as that. Buying a console would be a complete waste of money for me at least because I won’t ever be using it, hence the preference of PC. There’s no further discussion needed.

Its just the idiotic mindset people have right now.
As i said before, in a really simple example:

If a game costs $100k to port to PC and sells $500k. Gets pirated 2 million times, the company still profits by $400k.
If they don’t port it, it doesn’t get pirated but it also doesn’t sell anything. The company makes 0 extra profit.

These idiots make it sound like companies lose money by porting their games to the PC.

god double post

So you don’t even quote the entire sentence, and take it out of context. You don’t even bother to state WHY I have no clue what I am talking about, and on top of all of that, you have no point. If you have such vast knowledge, WHY am I wrong? WHAT am I making up that makes no sense whatsoever? Please tell me, because currently you just sound ignorant. When someone is wrong, and you want to PROVE that, you make a case. You don’t just talk out of your ass and do exactly what you said I was doing. Please excuse yourself from this thread.

These things are a given for any PC release. The primary trouble, and the most time consuming, is optimization. I wouldn’t be surprised if those menu and other console specific items were just ported from 360 to PC like vanilla.

You’d be surprised how many people still play the game, and it’s not gimped, nor frankenstein. Everything in place works as if it were meant to be there in the first place. I had friends asking where the hell I got all that stuff for SF4. So, again, talking out of your ass. If you’re going to direct something at me, you better have a supporting argument.

God forbid a business does business to make a profit.

You dont care for the scene so why should Capcom care about your needs? You just want to pirate it anyways.

PC specs:
Phenom II 4x 955 BE 3.2Ghz
Geforce 460GTX 1GB
8GB Ram
2TB HDD
Windows 7 64 Ultimate

I doubt there will be an “sf drought” anytime soon either way looking at the amount of fighting games Capcom is pushing out now and in the future.

True, we still have SF x Tekken, and then following that, Tekken x SF. Even though the latter will be a Tekken style game, it will include SF characters, which I feel can work in 3D. How exactly I have no idea. But I have faith in the developers.

Then probably SF5 around 2015.

Well, there are plenty of reasons that porting might not be profitable enough to devote the resources. I just wish people would get over the “HURR nobody buys PC games” argument.

Yes, there’s lots of piracy in the PC market. Yes, it’s a much smaller market segment than consoles. But there is a strong, legitimate segment that – as sales have very, very clearly shown – can be leveraged and can be made profitable.

Well yes. I believe that’s what Sven said is that it’s a matter of resources about SSF4 not coming to PC. But they can always outsource the port to another company. Of course there is always an opportunity cost involved when devoting your own resources into something.

Are you really fucking serious?
A company sells a game, LOCKS content away, and sells unlock tickets so you can play as them later, and we’re supposed to be okay with that?
That’s not "A business doing profit"
A business doing profit is making and selling the game as a fucking product, not hiding away content they’ve already made to make you pay more for it.
I hope you look back on this if Companies keep doing this, god knows I won’t be buying a single game in my entire life if this becomes common practice, and anyone who does can take solace in the fact that they are mindless sheep, the exact people that Capcom wanted to appeal to by simplifying MvC3.

"8GB RAM"
Yep, full retard.

Activision does that with COD all the time =/
They sell maps and game modes already completed as unlocks. Just like Mw2. When the game first came out on PC people hacked it and managed to play the locked content for free that they were going to later sell as DLC lol. I know what you mean, but it will become more and more common in the future. Even Blizzard has started charging for a fucking name change in Starcraft 2.
That being said, I wouldn’t mind having this game on PC regardless.

Ono has all-but-confirmed a PC port of AE on Twitter about 20 times in the last month or two. It’ll probably take well over a year, but we’ll likely see a PC port of MvC3 eventually. Capcom’s current strategy seems to be ‘milk the shit out of our fighting games on a closed system (console) and then release a PC port when the udder’s dry’.

Your buddy C2Q owned you so no need for me to add to it. You’re a straight idiot and a pirate. With your attitude why do you even post around here. Everyone knows you are only out for yourself.

Please explain the meaning behind this. Would love to hear it.

Oh and you didnt post your specs.

I’m really not seeing an issue with this. A company sells you a game, there’s extra stuff that you can pay extra for. Or not.

This, much more than the threat of piracy.

The fact is you can’t charge PC users the same outrageous ammount of money they milk us for on consoles. The “DLC” also doesn’t fly with PC players. Like a lot of people here have said; PC players are usually inclined to mod skins/sounds/models.

And anybody thinking there is more pirating done on PC than on consoles is just out of his mind; they are roughly the same. It’s been proven already that people who pirate regularly wouldn’t have bought an original copy even if they liked the game.

PC gaming gets around this by issuing you a CD key to play online; you can install a pirated copy alright, but you CANT play online with most pirated keys anyways; the standard PC player that games hardcore spends roughly one PS3 and a half a year keeping his machine on gaming condition; or spends a good 2k dollars every couple of years.

What you can currently buy with 400 for the PC was awesome 5 years ago; but a cutting edge PC goes well beyond the 1.5k mark, no matter how “smart” you shop around; a really good video card is over 200 bucks.

Bulletstorm, Call of Duty, DA2, and Crysis 2 go for 60 bucks. DA and MW2 has DLC on PC. They were still best sellers on Steam’s store.

I guess people are more than willing to spend the same amount.

You’re just kidding yourselves thinking that people dont buy DLC on PC only because its PC and we aren’t stupid or something. The fact of the matter is that people DO buy the wallet gouging DLC activision throws at you and the same rehashed, reskinned game they release every year (ie. COD). I know friends who buy every COD iteration and DLC. I personally don’t think its worth it and you can play the game fine enough without DLC, but people will buy it and that’s a fact.

However if you mean about how the DLC is distrubuted, I’ve heard GFWL is a horribad system to distribute DLC altogether.

Whoa whoa there, I never said Capcom was the only company who pulls this garbage, Activision is the worst offender alongside EA.
The point I was trying to make to Mr. Ego is that supporting “Tha fightan gaems” regardless of whether or not they are trying to fuck you right up inside the large intestine is 100% moronic.
If I was a CoD player, and they stopped making PC releases, and I could play it at friend’s houses anyway, would I run out and buy Xbox LIVE just for that?
No, I don’t want to support that, I just want to play it, I ignore all the retarded DLC as I usually do and I let them continue their parade toward industry control through DLC and subscriptions without my support.
If I have to contribute to MS’s pool of XBL money a lot of which comes from user confusion on cancellations, I’ll pass, I’ll play the older games, I’ll play the new one at other people’s houses frequently.
If the game was an example of what the industry needs? Totally.
If the game was a pristine example of long lifespan, lots of content, high production values, and a pinnacle of the genre? Fuck yes I would, I’d get a PS3 for that, no question.
The problem is, MvC3 fits the first description, it is by no means a revolution in fighting games, and whether or not it’s even competent to stand up to MvC2 remains in question from my 3 straight days of playing it at the aforementioned friend’s house.
And it’s got on disc DLC.
It’s not a product that needs fucking "supporting"
It’s a product I’d buy and enjoy.
But under my terms, if it doesn’t fit my terms, I’ll forget it, I really don’t care that much, nearly every player who loved Marvel 2 agrees "It’s not that amazing"
It’s fun, worth a buy, and nothing more.

4GB RAM, I can game, alt tab out to windows, running Win7 64 Bit, with Catalyst control Centre, VIA Audio Manager, Avira Antivirus, Steam, MSN, Firefox, Winamp, and Skype all running in the background.
Doesn’t even come close to using it all up when they are all doing shit, messaging on MSN while chatting on Skype while browsing the internet while downloading something on Steam.
8GB is a downright waste of 20-30 bucks for anything but fraps recording+Autocompressing every game at all times.

Go back 5 years, when you’re playing your PS2, Xbox, Gamecube. PC, whatever you have.
You buy a game, and you enjoy it, the game is finished, and it’s all there for you to enjoy.
Take your favourite game from an earlier console, now take out 2 significant characters from it.
The Developers were pushed by the guys in suits to take those people out, now you have to pay money in order to get them back, they’re still on your disc and there’s even a hack that can put them back in, but it requires a modded system.
How does this make you feel?
That’s what happened, The characters are THERE, they’re FINISHED, they’re on the disc ready to fucking go, but you have to pay money to play as them.
When they’re released you’ll even be able to play against people using those characters, you just can’t use them yourself without paying.
In retrospect, however, it’s better than SFIV’S fucking costume packs, those were damn expensive for a new model of each character and some texture colour palette swaps.
