Problems occur whenever anyone drops below 60fps. The benchmark should not have been based on average but minimum fps, would have cured a lot of headaches.
I play against people in same area, and I’ve noticed that
- Nearly everyone has an A benchmark, certainly there’s hiccups because people like it pretty but still playable
- Nearly everyone has a nice green set of bars, even when it’s yellow there usually isn’t an issue.
Apart from that I have to choose between a wireless connection or a really uncomfortable spot to play wired, I’m pretty satisfied with online. Apart from that I only can play random people, I don’t have any fighting game friends (lol).
How do you get the PS3 Madcatz TE to work on the game?
The game doesn’t recognise my keyboard or PS3 TE stick…
same situation here.
Im not even playing Gen anymore, im just fkng around with deejay and dudley lol
Most of the weak competition I’m seeing are not names I recognize from vanilla SF4 on PC. They’re either old players who quit a while ago and came back, or console players trying it out.
I figured out my issue. I need to stop playing people with low grade computers.
Also I’ve been playing SF since SF2. I main Akuma/Cody/Juri and play the rest of the cast for kicks.
Add me if you wanna.

you need an usb controller that supports intel usb standard (UHCI) , they are not that expensive, but you have to check prior which controller is used on those.
there is a thread here somewhere that discusses this.
back to topic, online works very smooth right now, searching / joining works like a charm.
only few bad players so far.
Day one impressions (EU release): smooth as silk, the best online experience I’ve had in the SF4 franchise so far. I played about 20 ranked games and only one of them had notable lag. Also everyone I played had an A-rated machine, so that wasn’t an issue either.
Just got done with a 4 hour session of me getting exposed with no lag, love it.
I’m getting this soon for the PC, but I’m a bit worried after reading the stuff about A-grade PCs etc in this thread. My PC is far from high-end, but tweaking the settings to a lower level will allow me to play the game at a constant 60 FPS. So my question is, will the fact that my PC can’t run the game on optimal graphics settings be the cause for a bad online experience, or is being able to play it at a consistent 60 FPS all that it takes to be able to enjoy online play?
Thanks
As long as you get a consistent 60 fps then you get a A grade, so lowering settings and resolution can get you that.
Note that also benchmark only measures by average fps, not minimal one. So even while I could set the graphics a bit higher, I set them fairly low to stop random slowdown in gameplay.
Amazing, No Lag at all Apart from people with B Grade PCs getting in my way
I have a AMD 6850, 4gb RAM and a AMD 6 core 1075T
Completely unplayable for me so far.
It’s actually worse than PSN.
Considering how many people are saying how great the online is, I would think there’s something different with the connection to your pc compared to your connection to your ps3. You using a wired connection?
Yeah I’ve only come across i think like 4 or 5 players so far that can body me constantly, the rest of the competition is really really bad.
Well, all I have to say:
I’ve played with few Japanese, no lag, green bars.
I have 8 mb/s connection, which is pretty decent.
But on longer run, never seen anything below green, sometimes there’s a slowdown caused by another player’s PC.
Just remember to keep an eye on opponents benchmark and you’re good.
I only play on a wired connection.
This is my PC:
Core i7 920 @3.41 Ghz
6.00 GB RAM
Radeon HD 5870
Windows 7 64-bit
I just ran the speed test on my ISP’s website and got:
41.1 Mbps down
1.95 Mbps up
Input delay is easy to notice when you use Akuma because you constantly execute Demon Flip->Sweep when you didn’t intend to. It’s a nightmare.
So far the online has been worse than both consoles. I played someone earlier who I have played a significant number of matches with on XBL and the input delay was noticeably worse on the PC.
EDIT:
Without a doubt the worst online experience I have had playing SF4. A complete waste of time.
I wonder what yall are comparing it to, cuz its not looking how everyone is describing it. Already three “lost connection to opponent” in a handful of matches. Its not looking great at all
edit: make that three
1000000000000 times better than on XBOX or PS3
i can play US guys with 5 bars and japanese with 4 bars. lol
(EU based)
also there is no input lag or frame skipping if u have set the frames to FIXED
