I have gotten tired of having to add every single person to my friends list just to talk to them and I sorely miss GFWL’s message system so you could swap a few thoughts before parting ways. There’s no way to do this now without a sincere hassle.
I recently created the Steam group SF4 Chat (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/chatplz) to try and alleviate this problem. The end game objective of the group is to have as many USF4 PC users from around the globe included as possible. When players are playing USF4, they should join the group chat room which serves as a central hub to interact with all PC USF4 players that are currently playing the game. From the chat room you can either participate in the group chat, or find and send messages to players not on your friends list but who are in the chat with you if you want to have a private discussion, without having to add them as your friend! If the group grows large enough and people make a habit of idling in the chat then this will be a tremendous resource and community building tool for the USF4 PC community!
I want everyone to know that I am dedicated to this group’s success. I am trying to spread the word and I invite every player I come across while playing online in ranked and endless. When I see people that are playing USF4 in the Steam group but not currently in the chat for it, I personally message them and politely request that they join the chat. I make an announcement using the group’s announcement tool that says “JOIN CHAT!” and, more often than not, many people see this pop up on their screen, and then they remember – woops, they’re not in chat! – and they flood in and join up. Tonight I got online and only 4 people were in chat. After asking some people to join and making an announcement, there are now over 20 folks idling in the chat. My involvement makes a difference, and I am involved, and I am dedicated to seeing this succeed – I want to assure everyone of that. But I can’t do this alone! I will be recruiting officers over the next week who will have a similar level of dedication and drive as I do when it comes to recruiting, moderating, and maintaining the SF4 Chat community. I am trying my best to get this tool off its feet as quickly as possible and I realize that I can’t run this as a one man operation for much longer. I am already ready to move beyond this obstacle. With an around the clock staff of officers doing what I do when I’m not at work or in class the group should continue to grow steadily.
By the way – this is only day three of the group’s existence, and we already have 162 members. Already I see the chat being put to good use – people talk after they meet each other in ranked and often times people will put together Endless lobbies right on the spot to play together. It has been working extremely well and I hope all of you decide to join if you are a PC player! Please come join us! Help me – help us – make this happen, make this real! I hope to see you in chat!
