She shut the excess butter out of her cooking a long time ago. Once she got diagnosed her show went the healthy route, and even spun into a show for one of her boys who does a cooking show based netirely around ugh ‘healthyifying’ his mom’s meals.
And real talk 90% of the stuff you see on TV is prepared like it owuld be at any restaurant with excess butters, oils, and salt (pinch of salt is about a tablespoon to them), she isn’t unique. She just stands ot because she was overweight and a big name. Guy hardly ever cooks, Giada weights about 35 pounds wet. The Iron Chefs outside of the hispanic one and Bitalli can’t spell sorry are all in good shape - Myiamoto actually has lost weight over time. So I say that to say she is a lightening rod for the ‘fat’ talks, but she is no more guilty than anyone else on their programming.
Also last I checked she isn’t being fired, they simply aren’t ‘renewing’ her show - which translates to “she’ll be welcomed back after this incident blows over” - and they’ll even be able ot make a media event out of it and pocket MORE money.
I wonder how many black folk actually care about this. I don’t think Lil B is about to get up and write Chronic 2013 in response to the political upheaval this will cause. Even my white wife was like “She’s old, what do you expect, that’s what her generation did”.

At first I didn’t care about this because, and let’s be honest, all non-black people have done this sometime in their lives just to seem edgy. Even when you’re in a fight with a black dude it comes out even if you really aren’t racist. And I thought she came out and admitted it and people were upset, which is stupid because everyone wants people to be honest then they hang them for it. It’s the reason politicians lie: everyone wants the truth but no one is prepared to hear it. I remember that one presidential candidate back in the 80s who said raising taxes was necessary and he got his ass beat, losing about 84% or whatever of the popular vote even though taxes really did need to be raised.
Then I read deeper into this and see it only came to light because it was in a court document when she was being sued in May. Then the lols started flying out and thought, “Well, I can understand why she lied about it but now she’s in the shit without a way out.”
Should she be fired? I don’t think so, but her dishonesty about how this all came about really rubs me the wrong way.
I would have agreed with keeping the past in the past on this occasion, but if you’ve watched her interviews since the initial report came out she has just been digging herself into a hole.
Her apology videos kept me entertained for hours.
