Patch Q: Would you prefer a slight speed increase?

Chars can reuse normals. The only difference is that the IPS now stays at stage 5, so you don’t get the first free chain anymore.

…not sure if being a jerk? I have a huge todo list, with checkmarks and colors and everything. It’s not that I forget to DO things on the list, it’s that it didn’t occur to me to ADD that to it. According to the list, I have currently completed over 100 separate tasks for the patch.

Also I checked with Keits, he said it was fine.

[edit] Already answered, but officially: IPS is separate per character, so Para’s LP won’t count as using Fortune’s after a DHC.

So do you think that’s sufficient to make combos shorter and encourage resets? Or are you just gonna wait and see what happens? Seems like an iffy fix to me considering how much the strongest DHC combos still do if you use new IPS system but letting it play out probably makes more sense than fixing it now.

Also do DHCs still reset damage for a combo that comes after that? I’m sure this one’s been answered but if someone could help me out that would be nice.

I don’t use body language to get jokes across in real life either. Most of them end up as funny (to others) as this one. I never think to do them in text, I assume the joke is gotten. It’s something I’m working on… :)?

Mike, will the speed up affect the EU vs US issue? Will it be a problem for PAL CRT TVs?

No, EU/US will be fixed whatever we do. That’s the original point of the patch. :^)
PAL is already taken care of as well, and this doesn’t have anything to do with that either.

I’d like to change my vote to stop the speed increase as I now realize that would translate to 3% less panty shots.

On a serious note, I don’t really care anymore, for those that really want it, it’s not so bad that I don’t mind adjusting for what seems the majority, if it stayed the same, that would be cool, too. So, if the majority wants it and says it feels nice, I can man up and adjust

I did see the speed up in the WNF archives, and I have to say it is noticeable but it’s not bad at all. You can definitely notice during Double’s Level 3 (unless the patch sped it up as well?).

It feels almost like a one star difference in ST. Noticeably faster, but doesn’t seem to change the pace.

Mike: Thanks for giving us some examples at WNF and explaining the technical parts of how this change works. After going over those, my opinion is unchanged. That’s a good thing, since in this case it means: “I would prefer not to do this, but what I’ve seen looks fine. I’ll still enjoy Skullgirls after this change.” I say go for it; my ‘objection’ is an outright trivial difference in preference, you like the change, and the overwhelming majority of players in this poll agree with it. You’re onto a good idea, so this should probably be included in the patch.

The patch made it like 2x as fast as it was before prior to this 103% increase. I can’t believe you couldn’t tell.
On that topic though, I feel like it’s a tiny bit too fast and needs to be slowed down like 15% from what it is now.

So I just spent about 4 hours playing with crouch techs (and crouch-throw) vs. MegamanDS. It makes the neutral game more mashy than technical, and since you can call an assist in the pause while you’re crouch-blocking you can basically answer every option by having cover for your throw whiff. I would hate myself for including this - it’s just not the sort of thing I want.

[edit] Clock was 3% faster also, but I adjusted it to compensate. And will adjust it back if I decide not to keep the speedup.

some last thoughts from myself:

the speed increase is VERY noticeable and does change gameplay. saw a double spamming st.HP 3-4 times in a row like it was chuns st.mp from sf4… he wouldnt have even thought to do that pre speed increase. jumps are much faster, peacock was getting away with airdash in chainsaw with much more frequency than i would have expected at the slower pace. etc etc. it doesnt look like a 3% speed increase, its quite noticeable.

those things having been said, the game at that speed seems to feel more like its “native” speed. at this point i dont care whether or not the speed is increased. what i do care is that this poll is all wrong, you cant just put up a poll and ask players if they would like “something extra” be it speed a new character new stages w/e and not know what the inevitable concensus would be… a smarter poll would be to choose from 2 things that the dev knows are things that are looked at more highly like… say would you rather a new character or a speed increase on the new patch… the new character would just be a control to trick people to see if they really want a speed increase… LOL remember that MANY games are marketed towrds FASTER BETTER STRONGER!!! which is a catchall for improvement even though it isnt necessarily one. sonic the hedgehogs famous BLAST PROCESSING!!! OOOOH LOOK WE USED A NEW SPEED UP MODE!!! lol

anywho, as i said the game seems to play more naturally at the higher speed, (probably cause it now resembles marvel speeds)

also at mike about crouch teching… fair enough.
