Parrying Chun-li's SAII

I have the Demi-God Parry on Chun-Li’s SA2

  1. Do not get caught moving back was correct.

  2. The parry timing is quick and late, the first parry is very late and almost on top of you but you will still have time to react.

  3. Do not practice any parry timings on dc. They are all incorrect to PS2,X-BOX and Arcade (CPS:3) mother boards.

  4. Street Fighter Three parry system was programed to be able to parry on reaction insted of unsafe parry guessing like the DC.

  5. Gaurd Blocking (via) Red Parry is a very simple technique when learned. The major key is to learn to " always return to neutral" before atemping a “gaurd block”. Different attacks have different periods of time of recovery to get back to neutral then quickly parrying.

By experimentation you will learn the different timings and the feeling when you have returned to neutral and when it is time to go for the gaurd block.

Wow,blocking the first hit and parrying the rest is ez’er than i though I got it in one night, I’ll probably never get the fist kick though. But what i’d like to know is, dose anyone have any tips for parrying chun-li’s #1SA?

i can parry it 1/10 times with alex. the way you parry it is faster than you would parry a shinku hadoken. the first hit is the hardest part, but IT IS after the flash, trust me, if you keep tapping forward BEFORE of the super ur gonna miss. i time it EXACTLY one WHOLE second, from 0 to 1 after the flash. thats how it connects for me every time i do it.

KikoSho is 2 frames, and can not be parried on reaction. Must parry buffer before black screen.

Quickly tap forward to bait super, first parry with be auto parry"do not input parry on top of the parry buffer" or you will be out of parry rhythm. 18 parries after that.

If caught by chun li’s low fwd kick down parry wait 1/2 sec then buffer fwd parry.

REPEAT! “do not input parry on top of the parry buffer” or you will be out of parry rhythm. You will be hit.

Ok, to settle the damn before/after debate, try this.

Go into parry training, program the Chun dummy to do the super by doing 2 qcf motions at a medium speed, that way she’ll do two quick ducks then super.

Tap forward when she stands up from the second duck, like a frame before the super flash, then take your hand off the stick.

If you did it right, she should charge at you, and you will parry the first kick. I know this for a fact because that’s how I learned to parry the super.

But I’ve read from other various posts on here that if you can see it coming you can parry after the flash, by tapping forward when she’s in your face with her knee up for the first kick… I can’t see that shit though, I’d imagine you’d have to be pretty stoned to be that focused… lol.

i usually just record chun doing a s.rh and then buffer the super into that. once you see her land, tap f and parry from there. pretty easy to hit the first one like that.

To hopefully settle whether or not you have to buffer the parry before the black screen: Yes. you have to do it one frame before the flash. If you see your character move a little during the flash you’re about to eat foot.

If done right, you should cach the first kick after the black screen. The rest comes pretty easily. 7 parries. Pause. 7 parries. Jump parry. I did it a couple times last night after reading this thread over.

Given the manner it must be done…there’s no way in hell Daigo got the first hit on purpose.

Thank you Tigerboi, you are now the keeper of the secret parry.

Yes, Daigo got lucky.

Unless you’re about to die like Daigo was, it makes no tactical sense to parry SA2. Just block and parry the last kick, then do your combo of death.

I’ve seen a makoto player parry the last kick, jump, then do a full jump in combo, into stun, into death. Nasty.

Red parry as soon as Chun touches you. Once you nail the timing, its not that hard. Make sure you’re holding back on the stick as she approaches you. As soon as you think the kicking has started, quickly tap forward. Surprising how easy it is. Honest.
The chances of pulling off a Daigo are slim. But if you can red parry after blocking just one hit, then you have a very good weapon against Chun.

Just for the record. Steve fucking Harrison did that shit a few months ago in a real match vs Exodus.

listen to harmonaz as it’s the same thing i do however, i’ll make a point: if you Really have to practice on parrying her down, just go to practice mode and play on highest level and normal SA II build up so that you can practice unexpetedly otherwise if you use infinite sa 2, then ur sure as hell wont’ learn anything. also helps if u got friends that r chunner lovers

dunno, but after understanding the timing to parry this super AFTER the super flash, I find regular parry quite easier than Naz’s method - still not a cakewalk, but I have higher success rate into simply parrying after super flash rather than block/red parry 2nd hit. But I guess it’s not the same for everyone.
On the other hand, I have an easy time red parrying 2nd hit of Ken’s shippu.

I believe my friend full parried chun’s SAII during T6 actually… and I see it a lot in casuals, so it’s definitely not uncommon nor difficult. I know the parry can be point-blank buffered even from a far distance, but I’d have to say from certain distances you could probably parry after the flash too. Just a guess.

Chip parrying seems pretty common now, I’ve seen a lot of crazy parries to escape chip kills and the only particularly fascinating part of daigo’s parry was the immense pressure he was under (EVO finals and all). I’ve even seem someone parry akuma’s air fireball, (land) c.mk, hadouken xx point blank SA I, c.mk during the SA I parry, which IMO is much harder than a simple chun SA II. Even parrying ken’s EX hadouken xx SA III isn’t that uncommon nowadays; usually one the first hit of the fireball lands on the SA III hit too, so only one parry is needed, and the next is a separate parry in between kicks. You can actually “confirm” it rather than just guess too

You can input the parry after the super flash from any distance. It’s just that from far the “visual clue” makes that easier. I tested it with several tries.

Depending on how close she activates the super, you possibly don’t have to be option parry the first kick. From outside sweep distance you can just wait until AFTER the super activation then press forward at the right time.

its not that hard seriously…but in real match i ll block, but there have been times i ve red parried from first moment she kicks (still on first set of kicks)

Just push forward a bunch of times , at the right times!

Hmmm… I just played this in Parrying training AS Chun vs. Chun. the timing was 8/8/1…
