Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

haha, we have one issues solved, just trying to restore the most recent database back up… well I now know how to deal with SQL very well.

Good luck with that!

I know how to use computers but NOT how to program!

Program code, let alone looking at guides for basic coding, gives me headaches…!

One year-and-a-half’s worth of BASIC programming on computers in my grade school days taught me I will NEVER be a programmer even though I understood the Algebra part of it better than most of my classmates…

I am so, so glad that most programs I use have a general GUI interface that’s familiar and easy to pick up for me. Those programmers obviously had designers and testers who understood the necessity for friendly user interface!

We are officially up and running again!! We will start our hourly sales at 8am HST Saturday AND we will still run the sales for 4 days! AND we will extend the Product review contest for the Foehammer Stealth fightstick for another week. Seems we lost some of the product review entries…so review away!

My wallet is ready. Do the Kaimana PCBs come with screw terminals or pin headers standard? In the product description it says that that w/ screw terminals is $5 extra but I don’t see an option to select.

EDIT: Also, exactly how many (max) Kaimana J LEDs can the Kaimana PCB drive? I see there are 15 signal inputs but does that mean 15 LED outputs or do the 4 joystick inputs translate to 1 LED output resulting in 12 LED outputs overall?

Zensouken, the option should be there, I will double check.

Everyone should check out the sale… notifications out by newletter and facebook!

Unfortunately I had to lower my pledge for the kickstarter, really sucks when bills decide to hit you at the worst time. Only 23hrs left hopefully you can get to that last goal.

These anodized caps…If you want the cap’s color to show through you would need something like X-Busters? Is engraving a thing?

Anodized caps are opaque, So you will just get rim illumination. They can be engraved, but we don’t have that set up yet.

Yellow, I saw and hear you, thank you for supporting!

@armi0024 I believe my wallet is ready to attack that Kaimana 8 Button Kit. Could you let me know what exactly comes in this kit? I’m looking at the default display picture on the site and thinking there’s no way all that stuff is in the kit.

That’s the full RGB picture, we will have those up for just over 100 in the future, but we are low on Hoku tops right now.
I have edited the Listing to have a list of components. It’s a good deal you are basically getting 3 J’s for free.

@armi0024 Thanks for the update, very much appreciated. I’m gunning for that Kaimana but the site is telling me the voucher doesn’t exist. Don’t tell me it’s over already? O____O

Glad to see you guys got over double the funds, I can’t wait to see the new plates!

Hi Susan,

Just got the replacement balltop in today and I will be sending the problem balltop back to you tomorrow.

I gotta say – these “tiger eye” balltops look more impressive in person! There’s a shimmering effect when you rotate them. The green I got today looks blue at times/dark greenish other times depending on how the light hits it. Beautiful! I have JUST the joystick to put it on… I’ll just have to wait for the plexi I ordered from Art Hong to arrive before I screw the balltop onto that lever!

Speaking of which, it was definitely the screws that were the problem on the “candy cane” balltop. The tiger eye has no problems screwing on and off the joystick lever I tested it on (an LS-40, same spec as LS-32/JLF/etc.).

I have to say that of all the balltops I’ve seen in person, this may be the most impressive-looking. I know it’s a bit wider-diameter than the Seimitsu/Sanwa standard and may be a bit heavier if I’m not mistaken. I’ll see for myself if this affects gameplay at all. I’m not expecting huge handling changes, if any, really.

I wouldn’t go bigger than 38mm diameter ball handles myself. I don’t have huge hands! (Pudgy fingers, yes, but that’s a different matter…)

38mm ball handles definitely seemed to have been standard in US arcades before bat handles became more popular in the 1990s… I don’t remember exactly but my old Wico/Atari-compatible joystick (circa 1981; had it for 10 years) might have had a 38mm balltop handle, too. I do remember the crazy thing had a small 4mm(?) button installed in the middle of the handle!

I wouldn’t mind getting another Tiger Eye or two when the spare money is there again for it…

FYI – the best thing I got out of the last order I placed may have been the LS-56 3lb spring. Did a comparison with spring tension between the LS-58 replacement and the original stock LS-58 spring – could definitely feel it in my hands as I crunched them together. Made a huge difference in the gameplay with the LS-58. It took me a while to adjust to the difference in the tension but I’m finding it much easier to play fighting games with the LS-58. The original LS-58 spring was just a bit too loose for me… and this is coming from someone who plays with “stock” LS-40’s! I thought that joystick (LS-40) was on the loose side! IF I get another LS-58 in the future, I know where I’m buying the replacement spring from and which one to get!

I look forward to seeing what happens with any new spring offerings.
Considering how ubiquitous the LS-32 spring is, and what a pain-and-a-half it is to do spring mods and all the crazy things some of us do – and none of it is consistent across the board because of factory QA problems with the stock LS-32 spring(!) --, a tighter tension LS-32 spring compatible with both the LS-32, LS-40, and JLF installations doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
