Glad you liked it, thats the exact stick we will be using for the Hori stick with super shallow depth… Length and shaft diameter, I can fix that
We have been using those as our led sticks for years and everyone seems to love them.
I’d actually be pretty interested in that. In my testing Little Kahuna was the best balance between button action and sound dampening. Otherwise, I would have scrapped it. You can get more sound dampening by using thicker pads but then the action goes away and feels like you’re hitting mush. We even tested a bunch of different materials for it, too. It was important to get a good balance between sound and feel of the button, and to find out which material and which thickness did it best. Mostly, you want to simply eliminate the high frequencies of plastic hitting plastic, which most pads do, but you have to figure out the optimal place of where the plastic hits the plastic and that’s what Kahuna does best and what other pads are not doing. It targets the center of where most of the sound comes from, and going beyond anything else doesn’t trade enough sound dampening for the action you sacrifice in the process. I happily sacrificed a Sanwa button to my Dremmel during this process
I usually don’t worry too much about the action of the button as long as it doesn’t stop the button from activating and stop the plunger halfway down like the first gen thick pad. I usually tap my buttons and don’t always press fully down unless I’m mashing the hell out of the fire button on a shmup.
The more you talk about it the more I’m compelled to buy them and then one of the rest. I think I have some of the other test pads lying around somewhere…
Now what would really be cool is colored translucent pads to diffuse light in LEDs.

If you guys adapted the twist for this stick with an adjusted shaft diameter I would buy 3 of both and put them in all my sticks.
That would be too awesome.

They’re pretty cheap! Pick up a set, and especially during this promo you could pick up a few other items, too. For diffusing LED’s, what type of diffusion are you looking for? IMO, it would be petter to get thin colored film rather than pads to do the job, like what you’d see in paper 3D anaglyph glasses. You could also probably use dyed tracing paper and then the Kahuna pad for silencing. Materials for diffusion pads would be costly, it means getting sheets of silicone in partially transparent clear or white which is much more costly than standard pads and of course, that cost gets passed to the customer. Better yet, you could get X-Busters for the G or K series of Seimitsu or the Crystal clear tops for Sanwa, and put a white tissue paper between the plungers for the same diffusion effect and then be able to use RGB LED’s to change colors on the fly which will diffuse as well and not have to worry about fixed color diffusion.
Pnoy I agree with moon, but what moon doesn’t know is that we are looking into this. We played with silicones and doing transparent pads. The pads weren’t great and the cost was high, so we decided to table that and separate the two. We have tried a few different materials for diffusion and will keep playing a bit. The Peles were started because of this…
Colored gels are a problem, because LEDS are very monochromatic, they combine Rgb, but the color peaks aren’t huge, so colored gels tend to act more like filters and suppress the lights. Put a red led in a blue ball top and you don’t get purple, it filters out the red and you get almost nothing.
But keep the thoughts and ideas coming, when I get back we can play around with some of the options we have tried.
And now another new product Announcment, the Seimitsu LS-56 Mahina restrictor plate series.
What is a mahina?
n. muh-he-nuh
- Hawaiian word for moonlight or moon
- a great new gate developed by Paradise Arcade Shop and Moonchilde to optimize the play of a Seimitsu LS-56 or LS-58 and take full advantage of the amazingly short throw on this stick.
[

The new Mahinas come in 2 styles and four colors. The traditional square gate comes in stock, for keeping the original feel but adding some color, short throw, for reducing the throw and speeding up your play, and no throw, which takes full advantage of the amazingly tight action of the LS56. These plates also come in an exclusive circle throw option. The circle gates are available in stock travel and short travel.

We need to thank moonchilde for all his help and work on these.
Also check out the new line of LS-56 springs!
We see our place in the community to be the company that brings you new parts and ideas. We work with players to make concepts reality, and push ourselves to innovate in this market. We are not satisfied with just adding new product lines, we want to invent them!
We take community very seriously. Our custom products are available for resale with any vendor. We have and are always happy to supply our products to other companies in this space. We have been asked to and did sell products to overseas vendors for reimport back into the US lately when a competitor wanted a custom jlf product we introduced. This seems counter productive and allows for those overseas companies to steal ideas started in the fgc. Not to mention, shipping companies and the overseas vendors both took there chunk taking more money out of this community.
So what’s next? Jlf plates are in testing, ls32 plates are in testing, ls40 plates are in testing, New Seimitsu spring line in development, and about a dozen other fun projects. We are always open to ideas and love to help make a new idea become a reality.
I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, been waiting sooo long for this announcement!! I wonder how many texts Armi got from me about them going up, lol.
You forgot to mention that the No Throw (my personal favorite and the one in my stick) has the option to be turned at a 45 degree angle for 4 way play. 4 way feels amazing on this stick!! It’s great for MAME games that do not recognize diagonals and NES games that don’t.
IMO No Throw is the best one to get, 4 way option plus the fastest inputs possible, every charge character players’ and shmup players’ dream come true. Not just that, either, clutch moment Dragon Punch??? Yeah baby. Hell, get them all, why not tweak to your heart’s content??
Soon
as a shmup player im ecstatic about the no-throw gate. and what’s this about ls-32 plates soon as well! :o
LS-56 still be faster than LS-32, but seeing as LS-32 is more popular, it would make sense to offer choice for those owners as well.
Anyone care to donate a LS-33 or LS-55??
Ls32 plates will be out in good time, hey give me some credit. We made two new product announcements while I am seeing sick kids in Micronesia!
Some of the descriptions aren’t updated 100% so if anyone wants, please shoot me a PM or better yet just ask here in case armi or me aren’t available, one of us will get back to you at some point, but chances are at the moment I’ll be here more frequently. Everything is in stock though so check it out.
when it says “comes in red blue yellow green or clear” is that for all models or each color is specific to a type?
It’s an option. I’m not sure if you select one or if you have to leave a note which colors you want. I’m not sure clear is because it would be a 5th color and he announced only 4, it should technically be available since it would just be clear plexi and I think he has some.
We can do clear, not a problem at all!
@Armi0024 - When ordering a Mahina do we specify the color on the extra notes section when checking out?
@Moonchilde - I have Little Kahunas on PS-XX-Gs and they work fine. Is there any reason why the Bigs would be better for them?
Inendoi for now just put color selection in the order note.
We thought bigs worked better but smalls still offered some dampening
Big will do proper dampening on G switches, when I tested Little it wasn’t doing it right. I tested on PS-14-KN, PS-14-GN, and PS-14-GNC only though, maybe I should get some G’s just in case. It wouldn’t surprise me if PS-14-G was different enough from the GNC that the Little works on it. They have no consistency across their models (PS-14-K uses D switch and PS-14-KN uses G switch, wtf!!) and I shouldn’t have assumed PS-14-G is the same as PS-14-GN. @iNENDOi could you take a picture of the inside of the PS-14-G without the plunger? If you could, the inside of the plunger would be helpful, too. May I also ask what happens if you put 2 Littles in a PS-14-G? If you could report an audible difference in sound and of course, how affected the action of the button is.
Thank you!
@Moonchilde - Sure. I’ll take pics when I get home. I’m also having some issues with that new JLF gate that I’m trying to figure out. Not sure if you’re involved with that but I’ll PM you about it.
@iNendoi Moon probably has some good insight but was not involved, taking a look at your I’m now. The word on the street is that they are tight, now I didn’t have much trouble but I… This is just going to go downhill. I will answer in pm, and will probably do a second iteration for distribution next weekend.
For any of the other testers and armi,
I’ve been experiencing some weirdness with my LED setup where a few of the LEDs in the chain will dim down or loose color, then randomly brighten up to the original color after a given period of time. This happened recently when I played some games on my ps3 and I noticed the shift in color/brightness during my session. I remember armi saying awhile back about the preference of finding an alternative power source besides the PCB USB but I don’t know if this applies. I already checked wiring and everything seems alright, all the lines seem in order and securely connected. Has anyone experienced this besides me? Also has anyone else had an issue with a color burning out of one of their RGB LEDs? The red died on one of mine and I became a little sad (replaced the LED but was still sad that one burned out)
