Leafs are much more responsive. I’m actually surprised that the FGC doesn’t start looking at a higher tech leaf switch as a less expensive alternative to the recent move towards reed switches… a tuned leave can be very precise and the actuation distance is instant on and off.
Introducing the Paradise Arcade Twist! The Twist is a mutli-length detachable JLF shaft allowing for quick release and installation in multiple panels or game types.
Included is 3 different upper shaft lengths.

Short: Usefull for Shmups or old-school games like Pac-Man.

Regular:

Long: for use in wood panels or just for long shaft.

Install is super easy!
Grab the needed parts:

1st: Install base in stick as you would any shaft:

2nd: Install selected length threading into balltop:

3rd: Install upper outer shaft onto base shaft:

4th: Thread balltop into base shaft:

Wow. Great idea. Depending on how fast it is to take off and put on I would think that this could be an alternative to The Link as a detachable joystick for transport. You also maintain the standard shaft diameter so you can still use your shaft cover, unlike The Link. Really a nice product with multiple uses. Nice work.
Will work perfectly with the new ectched aluminum parts thank you
Its is a perfect alternative to the link imo. Shaft removal takes 2 seconds.
Take my money! Take it!
Button caps in red? I need those with tekken kanji etched on them lol
@armi0024 Can you give us a hint as to when these mythical engraved aluminum parts will be available? Will they be engraved with something specific or will we have the option to do custom designs?
@inendoi how about we have a little contest.
Anyone can post a picture of what you would put on a custom dustwasher on our Facebook page. Who ever the three designs with the most likes by Friday win a free aluminum shaft cover, and your choice of bat or ball top and and an etched washer with your design.
You can enter multiple submissions, but can only win 2 of the three prizes. I will decide any ties, entries can be submitted at any time, votes will be tallied next Saturday. Washers are 38mm round, with a center 12mm hole. Artwork must be black and white for most reliable reproduction.
Sound good to everyone?
International submissions welcome but you have to cover the difference in postage.
So what color dustwashers are we limited to? White or black (solid, no transparent dustwasher)?
Would Art’s dustwasher templates be fine to use for the moment OR are there are other templates we should use?
I’d be designing for dustwasher(s) useable around a shaft-covered JLF (modded kit for LS-32). That size dustwasher is compatible with the LS-40 and LS-56/-58, too.
We can do acrylic, but were thinking aluminum
Challenge accepted
Black or white acrylic? Give a color choice, please! lol
But seriously, it makes a difference. Etched images generally show up better on black than white… Black’s also more universal and a safer neutral color than white. Black shafts/dustcovers match up with everything.
In addition, I’ve had too many bad experiences with white plastic yellowing on me. It’s happened with a number of toys AND gamepads that I’ve owned over the years.
I presume we should stay away from licensed character images/reproductions of already produced art?
I was thinking etched aluminum…but if someone has a cool acrylic idea and it gets votes, i will do it, be creative!
A few things for today. We have been getting a number of questions about the Link. We haven’t heard from Phreakmods in a bit, but he did say that when kickstarter presales were done we would be able to carry the Link in the store.
I think sometimes people miss a few items in our store, so I wanted to post a few…
As of 6/11 LS-40’s were available in out store (that is 6/11/2011)

PS-14-G’s were available on 5/11/2013

We are currently taking pictures of the PS-15 and a few other buttons styles
We are adding three new actuators to the store, while the aluminum ones are being manufactured. We will be adding, in Delrin, 0.5mm (identical to the aluminum version, but in Delrin) 0.5mm oversized with smaller gate section (speed up your game without riding the gate), and 1mm oversized with smaller gate section. The reduced gate section will allow you to do some impressive moves without touching the gate.
Susan finalized the pictures on the twist and that should post tomorrow, look for it at 14.95 each.
Finally… we expect the final controller boards to be in for the LEDs very soon. We will post the LED pads this week. The new system will allow for old or new LEDs to be used. (old leds will require a small adapter board) The new line will be the Kaimana Series. Kaimana is the Hawaiian word for diamond and also means “power of the ocean”. This new system is designed to be powerful and brilliant (in color), while being amazingly easy to install. The set up is all plug and play with keyed connectors allowing the first time modder to easily install a great system, while at the same time, retaining a number of hardware based modification possibilities for the series modder. Our first product to market over 3 years ago was an LED button, and we have come a long way since then!
Here is the new system parts:
Kaimana Adapter board, allows the use of the IL-lumination 2 LEDS in IL pads, Uila’s for in button lighting, and Pele Rings for side lighting. This board allows new installations of these popular lighting systems, or allows you to convert and add onto an existing installation. (We will need to confirm, but believe it shoudl work with Arc Eyes 1 and 2 also)
Kaimana J, for under button LED lighting, the Kaimana J has a really fun “easter egg” for the serious modder. This is a new very versatile LED board that mounts under the button.
Kaimana LED Control Center, Where the magic happens, details coming shortly! USB based programmable board with some amazing features.
Hina (yeah I know not technically the Kaimana) but this is a Mame based controller that will control up to 168 RGB LEDs, just in case you want to run a 12x12 pixel display on your mame rig
We apologize for the delays, this project was started in a collaboration, which unfortunately did not continue for reasons we are not aware of, This is part of why we filed for IP protection as we had shared a lot of ideas on lighting with all the participants back in November when this project started. This was a very comprehensive project, designed to work with multiple platforms and not require people who had already purchased LEDs to have to buy all new LEDs if they wanted to upgrade and add on to their system. We appreciate the patience and look forward to the fun. The board is all based on open source code and we will be setting up an exchange to allow for people to share the code and earn store credits for sharing it.
All this LED talk is getting me excited I hope to mod my current stick with a PS360+ and an LED mod. Hopefully it should be simple enough with this.
Edit: Double post
@catabarez it will be very easy to install
To Woop and others… here you go
.5mm regular throw

.5mm Gate Hater… small diameter where the actuator contacts the gate, so your throw to actuate the microswitch is shortened and you can avoid riding the gate

1mm Gate Hater

haha kids
When will the twist be available? And does it work with the LS-32?
