Paradise Arcade Joystick Project Magenta

Gamma testing

Very excite!

Do you have any pictures of anything to show about this project?

Is this one going to be able to enable/disable the analog part?

I think the PCB you would be using is a factor as well.

You are right PCB is gonna be another factor depending how they implement their X/Y axis movement.

The first iteration will allow for switching between the analog and microswitch activation easily, but you will need to open the bottom of the stick currently.

I have to clarify. the joystick will measure movement in analog, but will out put digital signals through the same harness as the JLF would normally plug into.

Pictures will be posted when the next iteration of boards is done. We are on prototype gen 3. We are getting ready to order production boardsā€¦ someone may have helped us out with a new logo that we are excited to mask on to the new PCBs.

So you are saying that the magenta will process internally as analog but externally will put data as digital as currently a microswitch does

Yes, but the analog to digital map may be edited.

How large would the PCB LED controller be?
Would it be small enough to fit into a Tek-Case mini or Agetec Dreamcast joystick case?

I donā€™t think it would be a problem for the Razer Atrox or the upcoming XBox-One Mad Catz TE2 joystick but it could be an issue with a shallower body stick like the HRAP V3/VX or the existing Mad Catz TEā€™s with those internal shelves with the holes which otherwise are decent for tying/tethering PCBā€™sā€¦ once you clear out the space for them!

HRAP 3-style cases should be fine. Plenty of room in there. The HRAP N3 is a question mark because of the design decision to enclose the joystick lever area from the buttonsā€¦ (Yeesh! Excepting the HRAP VLX which is almost perfect for mods, the last few Hori joystick cases have all had their issues which can make modding/service a pain-in-the-butt.)

it will add some depth, butā€¦ it will also be compatible with the new shallow paradise stick I"m working on. So George, I think I can do under 28mm, but can promise Iā€™ll have a stick under 30mm.

PAS is going to make cases??

i think he meant an actual lever joystick, there was mention of PAS lever mechs in the other thread

Oh, right. I remember discussing that on another thread. I should probably wait a few hours after I wake up before I start throwing comments up. Ha.

Haha I never said we arenā€™t going to make cases  but this discussion is about levers specifically

I hope you didnā€™t misunderstand meā€¦
I was NOT talking about control levers but the actual length/size of the PCB controller board. That concerns me since some of us do rehab retro joysticks (pre-HRAP line models) and occasionally use those as our main joysticks. These would include the Agetec, the Capcom Power Stick, occasionally a Hori Fighting Stick PS1/SS, the Hori PS1 Namco Joystick, and a rare joystick like the metal fight stick made for the SNES and Konami HyperStick of PS1 vintage.

The Agetec is pretty good at accomodating Cthulu-size PCBs and can probably fit at least two PCBā€™s that size inside the joystickā€¦ Itā€™s fairly roomy compared to the other retro joystick shells Iā€™ve seen. The others excepting the Konami HyperStick would be tighter fits. I had the Hori Fighting Stick SS so I can vouch for the small interior space of that particular joystick case.

If there is any misunderstanding it may be because this thread is about a programmable joystick lever and not a LED board.

Whateverā€¦

Your picture makes you look intelligent, too.

Armi, sorry for the misunderstanding.
I think we were talking past ā€œeach other.ā€

Itā€™s been that kind of week for me!

You can keep the attitude. I was just letting you know.

**************Aloha everyone! I have my own account! Look at our latest and greatest! These are so cool! GeorgeC-youā€™re gonna love em!!

Paradise Has More Balls! Seriously! Our supplier came to me a few months ago asking me for input on choosing the colors for this Bi-Color balltop, and they took my suggestions! Check these babies outā€¦I hope there are more to come. **
