It doesn’t just sound it, it is. Appearing where the character died pretty much makes Pandora like using a switch cancel, meaning it can be used as a non-complicated finisher since all you gotta do is continue the juggle (presumably). Like I said I had ideas for the Pandora vid I’m gonna make, but as I’ve said before I was bothered by it having to be changed in the first place…but if it works out fine and makes the game more ‘hype’ then cool. However leave it up to stream monsters to find problems with everything. People complained about how bad grabs were and now seeing the vampiric grabs people are sweating. And I’d say the same will happen with Pandora; people said it was ‘useless’ but when they start getting killed by it in every other match then people will cry ‘broken’. Hmph. This is all speculation anyway, but I’d like to ride it out to see where this all goes first before passing full judgement.
Yeah I’m mostly joking with that statement. I do worry it’ll be too easy but I don’t think it’ll get to the point where it ruins the game. Yet.
I am looking forward to what we can get from it though.
What happens to your meter in the round after using Pandora?
I’m almost 99% positive it resets to 0, but someone should double check that, too.

It costs you all your meter. So activating Pandora is not without cost. Outside of a combo it’s still very risky. Within a combo it’s very viable now. And considering that before only Cammy, Juri, Chun Li and Ibuki had jump cancels only they were able to cancel into Pandora. The rest of the cast had to combo into Pandora to make it safe. Now Lili also has a jump cancel. And IIRC more chars have a jump cancel to combo into Pandora.
Basically if your character has a crumple move like Nina’s EX Skull splitter, a float move like Nina’s geyser cannon or a wallbounce move like Cammy’s EX SBF you can combo into Pandora and then super. Even if you have one or zero bars.
The old Pandora could do 700+ damage easy. Even 800+ in the hands of a noob like me
The new Pandora does hardly any damage over 500. So, while it is way more dangerous now, it’s still not braindead. You actually have to have less than 25% health. That’s one combo away from death. And you lose all your meter if you fail.
I do expect to see a LOT of Pandora in the last round when both players are below 50% health. (And one char is below 25% obviously)

sigh Already people are starting to say exactly what I was afraid of i.e. ‘Pandora is legit now’ which is DEFINITELY making me salty, primarily because I can hardly prove anything at this point cause it’s old news. That’s the part that annoys me the most, that the change spits on all our effort and we lose validity in our case as a result. Sometimes I feel like we barely changed anything about the opinion of Pandora even though we made so much progress. I might be over exaggerating, but at the very least this is gonna bug me for a while, haha.
Dude. Don’t sweat it. The effort was definitely not for nothing. Example: I learned that Pandora can be cancelled out of a jump cancel. Never knew that. It got me to practice jump cancels. I thought jump cancelling was completely useless. But Pandora and this thread showed me otherwise.
Other example: Pandora gems. I thought you had to put the Pandora gem on the surviving character. Not so. This thread taught me that. Still valid info.

Side note: First time I activated Pandora in ver. 2013 I won. I used four (4!!) throws to win. Not a single combo or special. Throws still do 240 damage each with the right gems. Still valid.
Yeah fair enough. I just always hate being in a position where someone can bad mouth something and I’m the only one around to defend it, so it’s my opinion against theirs. Luckily I know I aint got shit to prove to people like that, and even if I did I know I got all you guys to back me up. Well, maybe not everyone but y’all at least know Pandora worked.

Punishing slightly unsafe moves with raw Pandora is valid now. How long is activation now again? 5+1 frame?
With Pandora power gem it does 420, with partner health below 25% on top, it does 509. you the. Still have enough time to close the gap and try another e.g. EX SPD for 350. That’s 860 damage. I’d say that’s a comeback mechanic

Pretty nasty right? 2 power gems are guaranteed if partner has 25% health. The 3rd power gem doesn’t activate anymore (using super during pandora).

Finding Pandora combos is sooo easy now.
I dusted off my Zangief and within minutes I figured out to use his EX green hand crumple to get a nice Pandora combo. With standard Pandora gems it does 637 damage. Standard Pandora gems being: Sample 4: 024, 139, 245* .*
The combo: Charge counter hit. j. HP/j. HK , st. mp x EX Green hand (crumple) x Pandora (Cammy) super art.
Without the counter hit it does 605 damage. And without gems or counter hit it does 571 damage.
There is enough time left to perform one more throw for an extra 164 damage. That’s a possible 801 damage during Pandora. That should kill most of the cast for one bar if you have done at last some damage to your opponent.
And as far as the timing between Pandora and the super art goes I found out a super scrubby tactic. Since there are a few frames to mash out the super I do the motion very precise while the Pandora animation zooms back in on my second char. After that I just mash triple kicks. I land the super 100% of the time even though I have no idea what the real timing is. LOL
So the new Pandora means: successful jump in = death!
So Lar’s EX Special Step > Punch Follow up is amazing for Pandora combos on CounterHit lol. The crumple is extra long so with Nina, I can:
Activate Pandora, EX Blonde Bomb, cr.HP x HK Geyser, cr.HP, HK Geyser, Ivory Cutter for about 500+ (no gems)
or
Activate Pandora, j.HK, cr.HP x HK Geyser, cr.HP x HK Geyser, EX Skull Splitter, SA for 700+ (no gems)
Of course I don’t know how easy it is to land a counter hit with that move in the first place though, as characters apparently aren’t in counter hit state during their fireball recovery But it should work fine for punishing whiffed uppercuts and the like.
