those were the days…
argh, I’ve been playing @ Pali for too long…
since the damned place first opened and I found out that made made a marvel vs capcom 2…
fiends was originally on the first floor [where morning glory is now] and i remember it gaining a lot of popularity cuz it was the first place to have ttt…hehe…then it moved to the fourth floor [right next to where the imax is…i think its a massage place now] and that was no doubt the peak of the arcade scene in pali…and this is all pre-mvc2…so the most popular games were ttt and mvc1 and there was always comp every weekend…sigh…
then fiends died and fun city arcade [this was the one on the third floor near the food court…i think its a restaurant now] and the “arcade” [what is now the pali arcade but started out on the first floor right near the train thingie] came into existence …mvc2 came out during this time…which was nice cuz if it was broken in one arcade, we would just go to the other…comp was still decent on weekends…
but then fun city arcade became gay and turned into like a happy family arcade and put in a whole bunch of racing games and pinball n shit and took out all their fighting games…sometime around there the “arcade” moved upstairs to where it is now and fun city totally died…and thats where pali stands now…
actually, the arcade scene in pali started in loews…they had like 3 games…area 51, something stupid, and mvc1…i remember ppl gathering there and playing on weekends…hehe…i used to sneak in there just to play…was sorta ghetto but i know this is where me, advent, and hiro started playing…y’kno…now that i think of it…that was like 5-6 years ago…haha…shit…i feel old…

now that alex mentions it, loews was the place to be… always found people there playin somethin…
then we all moved to mvc2… i remember not liking it at first cuz it was too confusing watching all the assists come in and do somethin… and now i like mvc2 more than the first one cuz it has assists…
oh well… i gotta get bak there… the last time i went home i only made to pali one of the dayz that i was home… sorry orion… next time ill try to fit a lil more arcade time into my schedule…
hope to see ppl there… ill probably be back in pali during thanksgiving next… i gotta get bak to practicin soon so i dun lose badly… im hopin to get a lil dhalsim action on my team…

Hehe, i forgot all about the shitty arcade by the train thing on the first floor. I once spent 6 hours playing MvC1 there by myself on a lazy summer day.
I even forgot about the arcade at Loews, but now that i think about it, it was the first place i ever played MvC1 at and it changed my life forever. I used to go to the movies on Fridays just so that i could play some MvC.
Two little stories:
Alex, you remember when you, francis, and I went to go see The Matrix on it’s opening day but we couldn’t get in until the midnight showing? I played so much Marvel that day…
Along the same lines, Hiro, there were at least 5 occasions where we’d go to the mall with a group of people, with the plan of seeing a movie. But then we’d end up playing in the arcade instead and miss the movie. :lol:
Yeah guys… it’s been a crazy long time. But it goes even further back than that… to fucking Wizard World and Mr. Arcade in Nanuet before there even was a Palisades mall.
All this history… and i’m only 18.

dammit…im supposed to be writing a compsci program right now but i cant resist reminiscing…haha…
damn man…mr arcade…that place no doubt changed my life…shit…and i totally forgot about it…but i was like 8 years old when i first played there…man, i remember when i did my first sonic boom…hahaha…too bad that place died right when we were getting into the scene…it wouldve definitely been a hot spot…o well…
dude, i cant count the number of days we’d just goto the mall right after school [sometimes during school…haha] and just play til like midnight…fuckin loews man…that location was too convenient…remember trying to sneak into rated R movies?..haha…like half of us would make it in…and the others had to like desperately try to sneak in…but we didnt give a shit…just meant more marvel time for us…and for the entire year or so that we played, we never hit a complete air combo…hahaha…damn…makes me wanna be 14 again…

working good enough. sticks are still as loose as a $2 whore, but that’s how they always were. P1 RH is sticky at times…
CvS2:
both sticks are fucked up. butttons work fine, though. It’s playable at best…
TTT:
P1 is totally fucked up, can’t speak for P2…
2i:
P2 has a really tight stick, but it’s broken at the same time. I couldn’t do quarter circles on it…
also, there is still a hole next to marvel 2, but they replaced some game in the front of the arcade with Soul Calibur 2. They set it to 4 tokens like tekken 4. as of now, everything on that machine is working fine.
Man, that day is etched into my memory forever. It was such a completely liberating thing to not be in school at that beautiful, early time. And getting into the movie theatre before that whole line of fucking tourists was pure bliss.
