How long should I wait after applying paint before I spray clear coat?
Thanks for the tips sir.
I would say 24 hours at least. After your last clear coat give the stick 5-7 days to cure, it’s hard to be patient but if you let it fully cure you won’t have it wear off like a lot of people complain about.
No problem, hope it turns out nice for you!
Thanks for the info. I painted the bezel on the TE stick black and waited about 3 - 4 days without clear coat before starting to play with it again. Then I noticed that the paint started to rub off where my right hand was. I guess thats what clear coat is for right?
my first mod ever i used some vinyl dye, rustoleum, and some duplicolor lemme know what you think

I know some people said they just masked the full case to paint the white sides of the TE, but I have seen some pictures of people who took them off completely to paint them. Can someone tell me how to do that. Hopefully I can do it without taking too much stuff apart, cuz I just put my new art/plexi/buttons in there. Probably should have waited and done it all at once, but my vinyl dye aint comin’ for a few days and I couldn’t wait, haha.
It’s not hard, and you don’t have to take out any buttons, but you do have to remove a lot of screws to get the sides off. There is a disassemble video on youtube that someone on SRK made that can show you how to take it apart. I would not mask it and spray, for fear that there would be overspray on your nice new stuff.
yeah definitely, I didn’t want to mask. I wonder if you’re talking about the shinjn videos, I thought I saw those, but I might have missed it. I’ll check it out- thanks.
Here is how my Rustoleum black vinyl spray paint from autozone turned out

Ok I just finished painting my Trim in black (with the dupli vinyl and fabric spray paint). Should I purchase clear coat paint to spray it with tomorrow night or should I just let my trim dry for 4 days and then apply it back to my stick? Thanks for your time.
Has anyone used the rustoleum gloss blue spray? I can’t find the duplicolor blue anywhere but I did find some rustoleum blue. I just wanna see what shade of blue it is before I get it if possible.
What type of clear coat did you all use? I could only find Acryllic Enamel Clear coat at Kragen.
I did not use any clear coat. I would suggest going with any gloss enamel, I don’t really think there is anything special you need.
rustoleum black looks pretty nice
Thanks again man. My friend is going to take apart my HD DVD drive and paint it as well, lol. He is also ordering a SE stick for himself - it’s fun playing custom with these things.
How hard is it to paint the home key/turbo button led area?
Do you have to mask out the led windows/switches?
Not difficult at all. The whole thing can be taken apart. there are two screw connected to the pcb if I remember correctly. The buttons can be taken out etc. But yea just take it apart and you can just spray the parts you want.
How close is the Dupli-Color HVP102 (Hot Tuner Blue) to the blue OSBF-30 blue buttons? Does anyone have personal experience?

it is the blue in this link…
If you go back a page it’s the color on I painted my TE with. It’s a lot closer to the Dark Blue Sanwa than the regular Blue.
Oh that’s tuner blue? Dupli-Color had two blues on their site, one was “hot medium blue” and the other was “medium blue”. I had assumed that was Dupli-Color medium blue since it looks more like that version.
