Alright, thanks. Yeah, it’s pretty shitty weather around here right now too. Supposed to get six inches of snow tonight wtf.
Anyone know how well the “Spring Green” Krylon color matches the Sanwa green ball top/buttons? I’m havin trouble finding many/any bright green vinyl dyes
Anyone use the RustOleum Fabric/Vinyl dye/spray? I want to use the black.
Let me know!
awesome color scheme boogahh
They have a “hunter” green and a “spring” green, that one looks decent though, even if its slightly darker than the sanwa parts. I will be doing a green base with 6 green/2 white buttons and some blank art on a white bg.
Did you use a clear coat on it? I ordered the krylon triple thick clear glaze the link mentioned, and have some 400 and 2000 grit sandpaper - how did you do your sanding if at all?
I actually used it on my stick, it came out PERFECT. I couldn’t have been happier. I ended up using 4 coats on it and I have a beautiful finish, nice texture etc. I ended up putting the coats on about every 10 minutes (per instructions) and then let it sit to dry.
They say it’s dry to the touch after an hour, which is likely true but I waited overnight since I painted it at 10 at night. The next evening it was completely dry and I assembled my stick without a bit of problems. A week later and I haven’t noticed a bit coming up.

I’m probably going to sand mine down and use Vinyl Dye, then.
That’s what I used and it came out perfect. It seems that there’s much more room for error with it as opposed to something like Krylon. Also, I sprayed it at about Noon time and was playing on it that night. Still looks just as good as when I sprayed it.
Exactly, the vinyl dye is super forgiving. I thought there would be drips but I didn’t have a single drip on mine. It looked like I actually have some skill If you wanted a smooth finish a wet sand between coats would probably give you a smooth finish as opposed to the slight texture I have on mine.
i highly also recommend vinyl dye. i saw crimsonzeek suggesting rustoleum, went straight to autozone and bought a can.
this stuff works soooooo great. its amazing how it really soaks into plastic and gives it a nice brand new look.
Well Guys thanks for the responses.
I bought the same can last night, and mine has a GRIP of runs and does not look good. I am afraid I fucked it up to be honest with you. I have to show pics later, but I would like it if you guys can help me out with this because man…I was not satisfied. I have a ton of runs, blobby and globby…I are sad

im working on my first mod. sorry i’m a noob
I remember seeing a Blue Sakura modded SE stick on these boards but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Anyone know where I can find it?? Been looking for the past hour. That and the Bison one from the OP were the best I’ve seen.
i bought some red VHT vinyl dye, i will be painting hopefully within a month, i’ll post some pictures of how it looks…
has anyone had any problems with vinyl dye running? i’m at work and can’t post any pics up at the moment. i’ve read that if it does run that i should let it be and it will go away eventually. anyone know how long it usually takes for the excess to seep into the plastic and go away?
is there anyway to strip or remove the vinyl dye? i want to start over because i think i put too many coats on while trying to salvage some of the bubbles that i had forming. will sanding it down work?
any pics from people that used VHT?
My pics in the custom stick thread are both VHT. Matte on the DC stick and Glossy on the SE. I’ve painted start and select and the control panel since that pic. Vinyl dye is boss because you can paint buttons and still have them function. Spray paint will add too much thickness and make them harder to press.
According to that guide provided the FAQ at the end says NOT to sand it down. Dye =/= paint so it should seep into the plastic after some time. I’ll take the guy’s word for it.
And due to this thread it looks like Rustoleum vinyl dye is in my future.
