Painting the Fightstick (With Krylon or Vinyl Dye)

really?? Did you sand at all? I sanded the side parts down with 1000 grit sandpaper just a little bit, but I’m not sure if it needed that. I don’t think I sanded the bezel at all though.

how hard did you try to peel it off?? I used dupli-color and that stuff was totally solid.

hmmmm mine has been lightly scratched and it has not scratched through…still gray… however I missed a spot right by the bolt and it is still white and the area surrounding is raised… I think it is more of a coating…however a very good coating…looks factory

Here’s how mine came out

^ well done paint job there

I have a quick question, I want a matte finish and not really into the glossy shiny paint jobs. Will there be any sandpapering involved or I just leave the paint be

Get Matte Rustoelum Vinyl Dye. You live in Long Beach so you can def find an autozone, they always carry it. You won’t have to do shit to it afterwords.

case came out really nice

@raeli

So what’s the best kind of vinyl dye?

i read SEM is supposed to be super good quality or something. I just used dupicolor and couldn’t have been happier as far as ease of use and professional looking result. Just wasn’t the color I expected it to be- and doesn’t come in as many colors as I’d like.

That looks awesome! I love the matte look, really works with your art and color choices.

I have used SEM Color Coat and Plastikote Vinyl Color.

Plasikote Vinyl Color adheres and covers better imo. they both have pretty good results, but I think plasitkote is a little easier to work with. Work with a mask, this shit will kill you or at least get you high :wow:

O.k I’m almost done modding my stick. I’m new to this whole spray painting thing, and I wanted advise for people who painted there TE stick boarders. I want to spray the Red Boarder from red to yellow to match the buttons and the ball top. Do I need to sand it down. and I know I need to paint it white and than paint it yellow in order for it to look bright. and what type of clear coat do I use also thanks an advance.

sorry this may be too late, but no…no sanding and it’s very matte. Spray on 3 light layers, let dry and badda bing badda boom!

thanks for the post. i think im gonna try spray painting my stick now

Krylon Fusion?

Has anyone had any luck using this product? I saw it mentioned in some other places as being just what the job calls for, any help appreciated

Thanks!!

yeah, it’s a good product, I’ve used it for a stick, and used to use it for painting consoles before that. It definitely works as advertised (minimal prep, no primer needed etc), but after using vinyl dye I definitely prefer that over fusion (although I wouldn’t hesitate to use fusion if there was a color I could get in in that I couldn’t get in a vinyl dye)

I brought these Spray items for the red border, I know I have to paint the red to white and than to the bright color you want. and this is the only spray paint that is color bumblebee that I could find for my stick. it says in the back it works well with plastic. So I don’t know anyone used these products before?

What brand of vinyl die? Also, where was it purchased? I want to do all black. Sides and bevel. Thank you much :-)!!

I used duplicolor and got it online, but I think you can get it at autozone or other auto shops, I was just lazy and didn’t need it right away, haha.
