For some reason you and others think pedophilia is something that can exist in a vacuum and not effect anything else in life. You’re under the impression that pedophiles are just average joes like you and me but with a different sexuality. That’s not the case at all. Almost always, pedophilia is a result of severe childhood sexual trauma (99%+), not something genetic you are born with like gay people. As a result, pedophilia is only one of several mental disorders these people have.
The sexual interest in children is also something you can’t compare to a normal sexuality (straight, gay). A lot of their attraction towards children is because they are easy, weak, vulnerable targets that are easily manipulated. It’s in their very nature to prey on children, not just for sexual purposes but also because they have a drive to prey on easy victims. Even when these people voluntarily go to therapy, they have almost always already victimized a kid or two (whether caught or not).
These aren’t normal people with an unusual sexuality, they are severely mentally disturbed freaks that love preying on the weak and vulnerable.

But My problem lies in the black and white legal definition of what an adult and child is. Where i come from an adult is someone 18+, and a child is someone 17 and under.
This means if I showed an 20 year old guy a picture of a hot girl with huge titties, in skimpy clothes and in a sexy pose, he would most likley agree she was hot. But then when i told him she was 17. It is suddenly revieled that He is a pedofile. He is an adult that is sexually attracted to a minor. Ephebophilia is completely different from pedophilia. Being attracted to post-pubescent teenagers is actually normal biologically since they are fully developed. However pedophilia is being specifically attracted pre-pubescent children.
One can easily argue the legal age of consent is arbitrary, but with pedo’s it’s not so arbitrary since puberty is defined.
I’m not agreeing with the people thinking we should lock up pedo’s if they haven’t done anything, but I’d keep a damn close eye on them.
