Pacific Northwest Major Results

Yeah true you can beat my ass in 3S, a game you have spent a 100X more time on than me, LOL!

But seriously, you should have shown up!

I’d like to apologize for that, as I saw that going on and when I came back and you guys STILL hadn’t resolved the match, I wanted to just give you the win but seeing as how you were leaving it would knock val out, piss him off, and then you’d just have to drop out of the tourney… and Nate was talking to you guys when I noticed too.

All I have to say, is if you don’t bring your own god damned stick, don’t complain about other people’s sticks and delay an already delayed tournament so you can try out a handful of different sticks. Not the time for that - not at all. I sat there and watched Val try to dive kick for way too long, when more than half of the medium kicks he was throwing out were too early (it has to be at the PEAK of his jump) because he was frustrated it didn’t work the first time. Slow your roll, homie. My stick was having issues and if I couldn’t resolve them literally within the minute, I’d switch TVs and the different PS2 would work just fine. So I empathize with the frustration of stick malfunctions (yet I also see it as bad sportmanship when it’s taken to this level), but that was rather grimy.

Anyway, it just sucks that it had to happen on a match like that, while I was trying to get the BC guys matches out of the way so they didn’t miss their bus and get stranded.

At the next one, if I run third strike, I promise to run things a bit smoother. I was sad to see the BC players have to dip out early, as well as Jason because I wanted to see how far he’d get.

How about a ‘five minute max’ rule next time? I definitely needed some breaks a couple times (washing my hands, drinking water, watching the very interesting Sakuraguy/Stiltman match) but tried making sure I kept my breaks quick out of respect for everybody else.

You guys did a fantastic job running the brackets… we had no problems whatsoever. We knew before even getting there that we would have to DQ if we got far into the brackets simply because 3S was at the end. Ultimately we should have planned on spending the night in Seattle… we didn’t look into housing or anything and we just assumed that the tourney would end at 10… bad idea. Nevertheless I had a blast and I know Tim did too… next tourney we’re coming down in full force though you can count on that! When the other BC guys saw the pictures and realized how big and successful this tourney was they were really mad that they didn’t come down and give you guys a run for your money!

In short, GGs all around. See you next year!

Clayton I was hella joking. But thanks for the explanation.

Lol, yeah, I got the joke. The problem was after I read your post, I couldn’t figure out why you’d placed under him, and it kept bugging me for like an hour. When I finally did figure out the serious answer, I figured I’d post it just in case you were really curious.

yeah we had a lot of fun and i think the tourney was fantastic, i’m definitely coming back next year.

all i gotta say is, this Val guy should go home and practice his fucking dive kick for the next tourney so we won’t have to wait another 15 minutes…if you guys actually allow him to do that again

Seattle Tekken was very happy to be apart of this event! Thanks to all the players who entered (24)! Hopefully next PNW we’ll have our hands on T6,…

please save the brackets for all the tourneys so we can input the data on the ranking website!

I had a great time. Thanks again to Brent for setting all this up, and everyone else for showing up. Thanks for the matches, Pablo. Thanks for recording the entire tourney, Zach.

Thanks to all the out of state Marvel players, Portland + Bernie, and hope you guys can make it up north more often.

We should make a separate thread with just Marvel results, and the full list. I’ll do it if you want me to.

Kenny got a shout out in The Stranger:

Marvel needs its own thread, ASAP.

Tourney was HOT. Literally and in awesomeness. Hope it happens next year again. I’m definately making top 3 in 3S next year, believe it! :bgrin: Oh and I got some awesome footage (Row in beast mode in the last GF game against Jmar, 3S GF of LTB vs SamY) that I’m gonna upload on crappy ol YouTube tonight.

To NKen: BRING XVSF (CRACK) NEXT TIME! CHICKEN MATCH!

Okay, I’m back in California and can post more than a mostly-exhausted whimper at how ugly I lost to Zach on projector. I was playing way too tentative in that fight in general and he ate my lunch. Argh. :shake:

I’m glad I took the time to go up to this. I need to bite the bullet and either figure out some new things to do with Watts or Sent/Cable/BH or I need to finally go over to the dark side that is Storm/Sentinel/AAA.

Row is too damn good. I -have- actually beaten him in a tournament in some faraway ago time when I was playing Sent/Doom/Cammy, he was playing Doom/Cable/Cyclops, and Southcenter was still the hub for Seattle tournaments, and then there was the near miss in the “DON’T F***ING CALL CYCLOPS AT THE LAST SECOND YOU TALL SKINNY N00B” match… but it may never happen or come that close again.

Sorry, Mandel, but being three feet behind you when you did The Stomp was unintentionally funny. Never seen somebody do that before. Glad the controller’s all right though.

The serious accident count on the way up from Portland was two this time. One was obstructing two lanes of traffic complete with ambulances on I-5 just south of 520, the other was somebody having managed to put their car in the median somewhere around Kent. I have no idea how Seattle drivers manage to so consistently wreck their cars in broad daylight on a mostly straight freeway like that. It’s one of my least fond but mildly amusing memories of having once been a regular Portland-to-Seattle traveller… almost every single bloody time somebody’s got their car flipped on its roof beside the road going one way or the other.

This is my first tourney in the new Prius. Portland to Seattle and back isn’t even near a full tank of gas. Portland to the bay today was just under a tank and a half. W00tness.

SamB was also tied for 9th. Lawrence came out in the 13th collection.

SakuraGuy snuck up on me. And my Sent/Cable/Cyclops is facking useless these days. Note to self… this is supposed to be a counter for Tron teams. You’re not supposed to lose ALL those fights. Grr.

Hope there’s another one next year, and that I can make it again.

Can someone post top 10 for 3S?

Its true that it was disgusting in there(I apologize for contributing that day was way too hot for big people) but FUUUUCK this guy, Kenny Im still in town til tomorrow lets go fuck with this guys shit, paint mario logos all over his office door and shit.

Good seein everyone and meeting a couple new faces, pablo gg, sorry I prob sounded pretty whiny, I just wanted to fight stilt and I fucked up so bad in that first game where commando couldve held back and won. ggs in marvel, seattle is still hella good.

Good games N-Ken, no worries it’s all good. I had heard of Stiltman and really wanted to play him, too bad I lost! I am actually really glad I played all new people for the most part during this mvc2 tournament. I look forward to seeing all of you at the next one.

Oh and special shoutout to Kenny for being Kenny and also for rocking the brohawk

the ST bracket is here: http://www.super-turbo.net/pnwmajors/pnwmST.doc

I must say I really liked the venue. Easy access to what stayed as clean non-grimy bathrooms, a (admittedly low-powered) water fountain, pop and snack machines, lots of easy parking, relatively cool room, walking distance to bars and food (plus PIZZA DELIVERY! <3 Pudge Brothers Pizza <3 ), it was always easy to hear announcements (even when I was out of the room), and the big screen was nicely elevated so everybody could see (although people really did looooove walking in front of the projector  ).

That was a damned good location. The room might be a little small if this keeps happening over the years and grows a lot, but: excellent find.

Great work, Brent and company.
