Hey Im Digging Cammy just wanted to say hi and whats up.
Been playing street fighter iv since release and been to nor cal regionals and what not and have had a lot of fun playing this game.
Balrog has been my main up until about recently and most likely will continue to be but I am seriously thinking about switching to Cammy until at least SSFIV (So many cool new characters coming out) . She is an underdog and yes no where near as solid as Boxer as a character i get this. But she is fun as hell to play. Any who I just wanted to give a shout out to all the OG Cammy players and say keep on kicking ars in style ill be rooting for ya while im not playing lol. P.S just so I dont sound like an idiot I did play her in SFII and loved every minute of it.
Power through it, Stabicron. You can do it! The longer this game goes on, the more and more I am starting to believe Cammy is potentially high tier. Not a joke. She’s pretty evil if you use all her tools.
The trick really comes down to being unpredictable. And you really do have to be very smart with Cammy. I’m not just saying this because I see Justin Wong killing everyone with Cammy (went on a 25-30+ game win streak with her at FFA just tonight against some GOOD comp), but because I’m feeling it myself when I use her oftentimes. I feel so comfortable using her and I feel like, unless I’m playing someone REALLY good, I will be destroying them. Honest. I feel like she has the potential to feel downright broken at times.
I know saying all this doesn’t really help anyone’s Cammy game, and I apologize about that. The main reason I state these things is because I just want to help people believe… believe in Cammy! Cammy CAN be good. In fact, she can be great. It’s really easy to fall into Cammy Fatigue and just believe that she is low tier and will never get any better. But believe me, she is anything BUT low tier. I’ve learned how to fight Giefs MUCH better. I am much less afraid of Balrogs now. Yeah, she has a couple of tough matches, but who doesn’t besides Sagat?
So I can only do what I can to offer words of encouragement, Stabicron. If you have the patience to stick with Cammy, the rewards can be huge.
Every time I switch from Cammy to another character, I miss something… Hooligan, CS, or even SBF. And after losing the match badly I realize I would have won if I had Cammy…
A Smart, Executionist with cammy in his hands Makes cammy high tier. She is a very hard character to master…its all about gimmics and chooseing when to turn on RAAAAGE rushdown Mode …
As far As punishing someone with a AA normal…thats really really simple, I know i may seem to make it simple…But trust i CAN show you. Even with a Regular cannon Strike you can beat out a AA normal …Just delay your cannon strike stop going in and going crazy if you know its going to be thrown just delay the strike you have to jump up and just wait to do the motion. You will knock the shit out of Balrogs Uppercut as well as Ryus normal AA grounded uppercut. WITHOUT USING EX. The worst case senario is that you trade with the AA normal…and from what ive seen yesterday versus balrog each time i traded with his aa normal and my regular strike he received the same damage amount or slightly more.
Oh I am still going to keep at it, in my case my main problems is getting into position to combo anything and even when I do it doesn’t exactly click and I either do the first part of the bnb, think for some reason that I am going to miss the link and stop when I could have completed the combo, or I attempt the full combo miss the link and SA anyways or get dp’d before I can screw up any further, or the ever fun get the link but screw up the lk cancel to SA.
It is just frustrating loosing to the likes of ryu constantly with cammy, and then going to bison and destroying most of them without doing near as much work and I admittedly suck with bison as far as getting his combos down lol.
hey stabicron, I live in detroit, im sure we’d have a good connection if you wanna train. I’m ok with her, maybe if we just talk and go into some matches to figure some things out we can work some of your problems out vs. some characters and just try to see if we can work out some of the kinks
Shit I live in Windsor and our local scene is growing much bigger. On friday players from Toronto actually came down to our tournament and it was a good time. We play at a bar really close to Ambassador bridge so spread the word if you would. I don’t know anyone from there really but I’ve seen videos of team detroit at NEC or whatnot and you guys have some good players.
Also if you have PSN we too would have good connection for some games, no xbox for me.
While I have a PS3 I do not have sf4 on it, mostly because I am too lazy to want to unlock everything all over again. Doing it on PC and 360 is enough lol.
My Balrog rage is causing a lot of animosity with a friend of mine who is really cocky and arrogant in explaining to me how to beat Balrog with Cammy (his Balrog, him being a Rog main ofcourse). No matter how good I play its like 1 mistake destroys a massive amount of life. Being passive leaves me in the corner without any viable ways out. Trying to apply pressure on ground gets me poke destroyed for a significant amount of life each blow. Every jump is met with a headbutt or c.fierce and I’m shit at blocking overheads after being raped left and right. Fuckkkkkkkkkk. I really need help. He has a dazzle so I will try to get some of our matches recorded but it’s really pushing me way past “cammy fatigue” into cammy kamakazi suicide via atomic bomb. The rage bellowing inside is just too large and I need a way to turn it around. I’ve ever been upping my Ken and Guile as a sidetrack to my insanity; thinking about Sagat or Rufus just to be an asshole. Dark days i feel wait ahead.
there is this jerk (you can call him an @$$hole too) who mains Zangeif/Balrog… he claims to be holding the world record for some online Chess game… or some such… anyways… i ran into him in player match… and he happens to be in one of my friends buddy list…
so he invites me… beats me a match or two… then KICKS me out of the session… (it happened once… the second time… i blocked communication with him and turned “avoid” function on)…
couple of days later i receive a match invite from a random person… same play style… same arena and best of 5… same Geif/Balrog cheapness… and AGAIN kicks me after 2 matches… i seriously got pissed… it turns out its the same jerk different ID…
just 2 days ago i got another match invite from him… i accepted knowing fully that he will remove me from the session once he gets bored or just to humiliate me and satisfy his ego… (Macho Zangeif with all his muscles is not big enough apparently!)… my cursor IMMEDIATELY went to Cammy without hesitation… i rushed him down like theres no tomorrow… (i actually Hooligan trapped him in round 2, round 1 had some cool HK SA meaty on wakeup into CS and round 3 was VALIDATING to me… i pinned him to the corner into Dizzy… im not sure if it was 2 successful BnBs, CS, then on his wakeup i back jumped then EX Striked his face into another BnB… :looney:)
yes i have unleashed the Killer Bee within… and threw cautious out the window… (i was lucky that day… he simply chocked under pressure… upclose i CSed all his Lariat attempts… )
then in the session menu i turned on the pink laughing emoticon… and then left the session :lovin: (he was pressing the ready button like a maniac… )
dont play with such jerks… whats the point… you end up being frustrated and not learning anything… (plus its a video game… you should be having fun!)
I did something very similar against a Zangief once who I kept running into in Championship mode, it kept going to the final round and he would ultimately win every time, in some exchanged messages he said I needed to be more aggressive so the next game I went on the attack probably more than I’ve ever done against anyone and dizzied him and almost perfected him, possibly the best single round I’ve ever played. Then I immediately decided that was luck and I couldn’t do it again and went back to my old ways and ended up losing lol. Maybe the secret to beating Zangief is to rush him down and pray lol.
I just got her alternate costume yesterday. I played a couple of matches and she looks so much more badass. Eventho i won most, i don’t feel i’m yet worthy of wearing her alternate suit tho :p. So only wearing it when i’m confident!!
One thing i relized is that allot of people fear the suit and start turtling and spamming firebals;p. Especially Sagats.
Another thing: Anyone seen the latest SSF4 anime trailer. It’s got allot of cammy:rock:

I main Cammy (not well, but it’s the only moveset I know right now). I had about 15 losses to this 1 much better player online, and then I accidentally picked Rose for the next fight, and I won (well, 1 round, but it was still my first victory against him), and I didn’t even know Rose’s moves, I just used the Cammy motions on my gamepad or used normals (and Rose has better reach which helped and seems to hit the ground earlier after jumping). I definitely feel the sentiment that Cammy requires a lot of work–you can’t sit back and not think too much. My question is, if you put that same amount of brain-work into an easier character would they shine as much as Cammy eventually does, or do simple characters remain simple and wits and cunning won’t take you as far with them?
In regard to nerfing, My guess is Capcom viewed balance as just an issue of addition and subtraction, and they figured her high speed was something that really needed counterbalancing when viewed on paper. I think the power and usefulness of her speed lies in the player’s ability to intelligently exploit it (which may only go so far–what if your opponent is smart too? Which goes back to my previous question), whereas tip-toer Sagat doesn’t need to exert any more brain-power to deal much more damage.
