Just so you know, make sure Blanka is on the ground when you pull off your ultra. That used to get me a lot
You can only FADC out of 2 hit HK Arrow. I’ve practiced linking lp out of it quite a bit, but I’m still not comfortable doing it in a match.
I’m a HDR Cammy player looking to start Cammy in IV. I’ve been watching some videos of good players, and it seems like Cammy’s been nerfed even more! She was already low-tier but had good pressure tactics in HDR. Now I see that her drills are no longer safe, her hooligan is worse, and her inputs are harder
EDIT: I played around with Cammy in training just to get a feel for her. Man, so different. TOTALLY fucked me up when I played HDR later.
EDIT2: I don’t know if this is too effective but its cool as hell: dash backwards and then straight into Hooligan.
Sup rellmane, You are correct since I have hit G1 i really have been pretty much in player matches and training rooms. To go over what Im workin on is as follows.
#1. on my list is to break the habit of doing C. spike FADC C.spike when i have an ultra and instead setting myself up for hit confirmed ways of landing crouching lk to C.spike then FADC back to ultra. I noticed way too many times in my own matches and watching countless other cammy’s that we dont really take advantage of our ultra as much as we could in terms of combo’ing into it.
#2.Just recently dabbled with pokes combo’d into hooligan for all those ppl that continue to try and back up out of combat range to zone me. So i have been using standing and crouching mediums to setup a hooligan as that try and back out to try and catch em.
#3. Also have been trying to implement Spinning knuckle in my game. So far i have had a tad of success in throwing it in the middle of a short jab combo, the brief pause sometimes throws them off and then they get hit with the knuckle. But i have also been getting DP’d or other random stuff, (sweeps jabbed) out of it still. I do feel if you have enough pressure in the ground game built it can work but not nearly safe enough to count on in any early rounds.
#4. Been trying to work on ways of instinctively triggering my opponents to attack and then trying to ultra before that attack comes out. For example. Deep C. Strike into short, jab, then show the grab so it misses, usually the opponent will try a poke and then i trigger ultra. Another im messing around with is ex C.strike into standing up close Roundhouse, which surely makes cammy look open, and see’n if i can ultra before im sweep’d or anything else.
Still in premature stages of both so… yea…
#5.Still working on activating my ultra in between crouching MK into fireball from kens and ryu’s. At the range which you can focus the fireball you can ultra through it and catch em. Just takes good hand speed, and possibly anticipation. Certain things both character’s do can set you up for it, like a crossup into 2 crouching jabs, then crouchin medium kick to fireball is often used. or Neutral J.mk to c.mk to fireball is another i see both character’s use alot. but my execution isnt as good yet.
#6. Still working on teching grab’s. Also using Spinning knuckle to go through special grabs like TT oichi or SPD’s.
Besides these just other regular stuff. execution in general. crossup’s on e.honda and other character’s her’s works on. blah blah blah you all get my drift… short summary… EVERYTHING lol…

Just one thing can someone type me up a motivational post? these past 2 weeks i have been FUCKIN up with teching. Really bad fuck ups…like people are walking up and throwing me all the time. I have no idea whats wrong with me i’m usually really good with techs
I’m losing games because of this
so can someone breakdown the teching engine really quick? i’m so lost right now. its pissing me off, i haven’t been this hot headed in a long time

In terms of teching, i haven’t quite figure’d it out 100%. In terms of the crossup game which is really when the throw game is put on me i pretty much have to guess. This might seem kinda sketchy but try to follow me the best you can.
Me personally after the initial crossup is blocked I hit grab while still in blockstun so that if they try to throw ill tech it. The reason i do this is because most ppl try to time their crossups so that it combo’s into a jab or short. Now im not sure how many have tampered around with blocking but if you block the first hit of a combo, and the next hit is a actually combo u can let go of back and you will still block it. So basically if they cross me up and I hit grab and they are continuing a combo my grab doesnt come out and I end up still blocking(As a sidenote I do not let go of blocking while trying to tech a grab in any crossup scenario). I hope that makes sense because i know i dont do a good job of explaining things.
Now the problem with this is that if the opponent has it in their mind that if i block the initial crossup they will do c.lp into a grab, usually im not ready and get grabbed because i dont have it programmed in my mind to keep pressing grab after every hit of a blockstring.
2nd problem which probably should be the first is that if my opponent messes up the timing of their blockstring combo, my grab might come out or c.lk (if im trying to tech while ducking) in which usually i get hit with the end of a combo which is pretty bad lol. What is on my list is trying to see if i can recognize when my character is moved from my position into a getting-thrown-animation and still have time to tech it. so far no luck, so in the meantime i settle for trying to tech a grab in the middle of a blockstring that is more probable from most players.
In terms of whats probable, i tend to go with stuff that i know the player isnt required to move to grab me, so either initial crossup to grab or crossup c.lp grab. if he’s a kara thrower he might be able to get two lights in their and grab without moving forward, in which i have to adapt and guess more in that bout.
In terms of Ken’s wack ass, i tend to wait to tech until he’s further away since i figure all the really good ken’s dont do grabs in regular ranges, they tend to kara throw me from full screen lol.
I’m also trying to work on double tapping grab during blockstun to see if that may do anything. And in the case of gettin walked up on and grabbed all i can say is your just gettin caught sleepin!!! (~.~) lol seriously your probably just focusing to much on it and hittin grab a tad late. It happens to me all the time too man. Don’t get frustrated, I always believe that just before you ascend to another level you take a couple steps back. So you should be whoopin ppl better than before in no time! Maybe we can play again sometime. I just got beat up by a honda named mpr85 3 games to 6 lol.

I can do what now?! :wow: Now that I think about it, it makes sence because of the air frames. I’ve been Cannon Striking when I sense an SPD, but one of two things happens generally.
1: I don’t get the input in (Read: Eat Piledriver)
2: I guess wrong. They block it then…
2a: Block string into nothing (Most Geifs can Lariat Hooligan on reaction, I’ve found :sad:)
2b: I’ve failed (Read: eat a Piledriver)
I’m gonna try this though. This has always been a bad match for me.
yea the only problem with doing the spinning knuckle to go through the special grabs is why would i do it instead of cannon strike? the move has more inputs to execute making it a bit harder to pull out during a blockstring, at least in my mind.
The only reason i can think of for using this instead of a C spike is if i have an ultra and dont have 2 bars. Would make a good way of hittin my ultra w/o having to use ex bars.
That sounds like a pretty risky way to punish a piledriver to me.
Yeah but because of short inputs cant you do 3214+p for the knuckle? Seems like it’s an easier input for footsies to me. I think maybe a mix between this, hooligan and TK CStrike should all be considered when you come to trading lows. Each has their own applications. Knuckle simply goes through most pokes, CStrike beats out most lows (though won’t nessecarily combo) and hooligan is kinda the “gotcha!” button. Not against just Gief, I’m talking in general. The fact that Cammy has these options during a block string is one of the things that makes her shine IMO.

Not gameplay related but… does anyone else find Cammy to be much more attractive than any of the other female members of the cast? I don’t really like the way she stands, but beyond that, everything just looks better. She’s definitely the second best-looking character in the game, #1 of course being Sagat.

There have been times where I’m mesmerized looking at Blanka’s chest. WATCH THE CHEST MOVE WHILE HE BREATHES!! SO WEIRD!

Yeah, every time they try to make a video game chick not hot it never works. Prime examples include Yuna from FF X and Lady from DMC3. Both were given toned down facial features to make them appear more like normal people instead of video slut-bombs. It didn’t work.
But I degress. I was actually suprised to find that Cammy’s alt costume looks… well… just terrible. I hope I’m not the only one who thinks so, but the Shadoloo costume just doesn’t translate to 3-d all that well. When I look at other alts (Sagat, Balrog, Ryu, ZANGIEF) I feel this is another area where Cammy got shafted. When will the nerfing stop?
I think the alt costume looks bad because it’s a freaking coat rather than the shadoloo costume.
