Out of curiousity, who all’s going to be at the Gonq tonight? Since I’ve got half a tank in my car, I might actually wind up going if some BB and Tekken people are coming out. Or hell, even any P4A people that might exist still despite not playing that game in ages. Hell, maybe I’ll wind up getting motivation to actually play UMVC3 instead of just having the disc lying around unused after the initial few days of practice mode too.
Hey Ottawa crew! Today was the last day of classes and now my Thursdays are finally free. How many PS3 setups are there at the Gonq HQ? There’s also a guy from the Toronto Tekken & DOA crew named Luca who moved to Ottawa, he’ll join us as well that day
Oh snap, that’s actually pretty good news. We gotta try some TTT2 sometime, even if it’s just over PSN. Out of curiousity, what’s your take on DOA gameplay wise? Like, I’ve been playing TTT2 for almost a year now, and I’ve had a bunch of off again on again experience with the Soul Calibur series, so would it be something easy to transfer over to?
I actually like all fighting games. Each one has their own cool feature that separates it from the others and requires its own specific skillset. I haven’t put all that many hours into DOA… and I still haven’t purchased DOA5 since I was focusing on TTT2 almost exclusively… but there is a lot to like about DOA. IMO it’s like the Killer Instinct of 3D fighters. With DOA there is always a rock paper scissors to break out of stuns until you are legitimately launched in the air. It’s super unique and it’s not in any other 3D fighter, the thing I like the most about it is how it forces you to vary your combo’s. As far as how easy it is to get into, hopefully you can ask Luca when you do eventually meet him, but it is about as easy to get into as VF (which means it’s easy to :P) The movelists are pretty much as big as Tekken’s so there is of coarse a certain number of strings that I feel you do have to familiarize yourself with but again, it comes with time.
Ah, alright thanks. I notice the movement seems a lot looser than TTT2 as well (but I still haven’t fully gotten that whole part of Tekken down yet since I hear it’s a very deliberate motion). I remember actually being pretty intimidated by the big move lists in TTT2 (like 85+ per character), but in some strange way, I feel like 3D fighters like it help me better to learn fundamentals and spacing and all of those things.
It’s definitely a win but this points system isn’t based entirely on wins. If it was 3pts for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss type of system than that would make sense, but it’s not. If this system is supposed to truly determine skill, then match score should also come into play. If we both win 20 matchups and I won them all 5-0 and you won them 5-4, are we equal?
Anyway there is an open money match invitation from me to the shitscrub known as Hash and his #1 dickrider pritz, any amount, any time. Need $100 for that monitor hash? come take it from me.
