Ottawa Thread 2013

But with assists, they offer huge advantages, so I think its not that big of a deal that they come with a large consequence when they’re used carelessly since carelessness is what causes a happy birthday to occur in the first place.

Well, if assists took no damage then people would be calling them out with impunity.
It also severely weaken characters that base a lot of their offense in stuffing assists and fishing for birthdays. (Oh, Nemesis…)

I agree that having assists not die so easily would make a game “better” overall but I think they’re here to stay. People just love getting hype off of assist kills and birthdays.
That’s probably why skullgirls patched but allowed snap-backs to kill lingering assists. <3 That hype.

I wouldn’t recommend that, a huge part of marvel is assist calling and counter calling, because certain assists beat the other one out if they are times correctly. The thing with that is when you damage an assist you deter the opponent from calling that assist, plus there is also the whole snapping in the assist to lose any red life it has built up.

I think the assist system is fine the way it is, I admit sometimes the punishment for a bad assist call can seem a little steep(losing two characters) but on the flip side this is marvel 3, the king of 1 character comebacks. So I guess in that sense it “balances” itself out. Its very easy to fall down to just one character, but it’s also really easy to come back with just one character.

Hm, I see some of your points there. What about the possibility of making it so there’s only X amount of times you can use each assist and that when those are up, you can only use them again with use of X-Factor? I just was thinking of that, since my thought is it’d make people have to be more careful and ensure that they find the best times to use them. That, and well, it might encourage fishing for trying to get people to ‘waste their assists’ in that you could get someone to think they need assist A to get out of an upcoming attack, so they use it, but you never do the attack in the first place (though I don’t know why I’m explaining baiting and fishing for things to you guys, as I’m sure you know what they are too)/

yall are bad at marvel anyways, da fuq is the point in arguing
Burst or xfactor its all the same, you just gonna get baited cause youre bad

Dafuqs going on in here? School’s back in session soon.

Hey Bruce, have you decided on a day for the Algonquin meetup?

Anything meet tonight?

Gonna run meets when classes start?

I am up to play SFxT. 4 players is the way to go for this game.

I don’t really play umvc3 but I like watching it. It was pretty entertaining + hes 14 yrs old competing like that, its good to see.

I would like UMVC3 if the buttons were the same as SF4, like they were in past X-Men VS SF games. I have trouble getting used to the buttons. So weird. I used to play Mahvel all the time.

It would change things too drastically. Pretty much the equivalent of saying ryu has a set number of hadoukens every round(granted they did something similar with bang, but that’s besides the point). More importantly, what is the point of all these proposed changes I’m curious? I mean a page ago you were worried assists die too quickly if they are caught in a two for one(usually the result of careless assist calling), now you’re suggesting changes that would prevent people from carelessly calling assists. I’m really confused, these seem more like changes for the sake of changes than things that would improve the game.

Marvel is ass. Tekken is ass. Sfxt is ass.
Play lol

yo, 5v5 ottawasf vs mtlsf, except its in lol not sf

MTL still just bodies Ottawa either way, lol.

School is in session over hear in student housing bitches

Is there much of a league of legends and or DOTA community in ottawa? I play a fuck ton of that. (more LoL these days)

In some disturbing way, all of that Marvel talk from a few days ago has me strangely considering semi-picking up the game for a bit. Though, hell if I’d ever know a decent starter team.

I tried to play marvel and decided that it wasn’t going to work unless I was also going to pick up smoking crack.

I kinda had the same feeling with Vanilla MVC3 as I SORTA played it, didn’t bother trying to figure out what I was doing, and sold it off a month later, using the money to buy KOFXIII. I dunno, I just figure I may have been too quick to judge it as I was with Tekken.

I saw go for it, it’ll be nice to get some “new” blood in marvel. But yea, good luck finding a team, if you’re anthing like me you’ll be searching for a while. I find its easier to pick a character and build a team around them.
