So why do people complain when someone ‘turtles’ "pokes’ and ‘button mashes’ but still wins. Also…is it actually possible to play ‘cheap’ nowadays or do players confuse ‘cheap’ with ‘skill’ ?

I’ve been playing this game for 4 hours straight, and i just shut it off to do some homework…

may as well go with Raoh he’s a beast. mind you, since the game has like 8 chars, being original wont work out too well. But on the other hand you could pick Yuda, cuz i’m not going anywhere near that ass.

No, you don’t actually. A good poker is a good player period. Combos are looooow on the list when it comes to the big picture. Obviously, you need execution and you need to do the fundamental combos, but poking is HUGE. You can easily tell how good a player is by how he pokes, spaces himself, moves, etc. Anyone can do combos. Having said that, if you CAN’T do combos and if your execution is shit and relies on the most basic stuff, you are prolly not that good.

Only scrubs who have no worth in the game would complain about those three things.

Turtles - is a safer style of play…it can be annoying…but it’s a tactic that even rush down players use at times.

Pokes - the most technical part of fighting games. In high level SF play, it’s also the least random of attacks imo. Whoever complains about this shouldn’t be involved in competitive fighting games…it’s like playing basketball and complaining about jump shots.

Button Mashes - like the worst tactic ever. It can be annoying…even in decent level play (ex. someone who always mashes jab when you’re close and they hit you with it - forever ignorant to how they could have been set up to get counter hitted into death). If you lose to this in a SF game (need to exclude those Namco games) - you need to work on your game severely. If you’re complaining about it a lot - you need to get out.

Cheap is way too often confused with skill. Mostly by scrubs…but even a good player who gets beat can get mad and lose his ration.

It’s simple. For scrubs its cheap, for good players… theyre just not used to it. So for all the scrubs out there… STFU SCRUBS and DIE. No offence :lovin:

actually i must disagree about mashing. In x-men that’s preety much the most guarantee way of techhit. Also i have many times gotten myself out of traps against people and did random super in their face. So for people who would like to put a bit of an anoyance or even a scare on their oponent (to a degree):

pokes/turtles? this is whats important in fighting games…?! no wonder i was having hard times winning my battles. to me, combos/executions makes a great player; one in which i have come to respect. but i guess im wrong.
