Picked up Hellboy: Darkness Calls #1 today. Duncan Fegredo’s style is pretty close to Mignola’s(save for his skinny HB).
Looks like a good start.

Ultimate 13 has finally come out this week.
I bought it but still haven’t actually read it yet. Now that is ironic considering how pissy I have been about it being so late.
Kind of sorry to see the ending to Uncanny, it felt like it took forever to get here and the ending just had me thinking, “Why does no one seem to write any of the Summers clan good outside of Whedon these days?”
On another note, I hear All Star Batman & Robin was actually good this week. Will wonder never cease?
Can someone post a link to where i can find out general comic book info like what gn’s are coming out, top whatever lists/anticpated stuff, n whatnot? all i have use is ign which is kinda a pain in the ass to search through and most of their reviews are on comics and i’m strictly a gn consumer…except for CW tie ins.
BTW can someone recommend any good transformers or beastwars gn’s? (preferably hardcover) i picked up a random g1 transformers gn by IDW last year and it was pretty good and had exceptional art i wish they made an ultimate line for transformers lol.
There is COMICON and my personal favorite NEWSARAMA. But for reviews (although it focuses more on X-Men stuff and the occasional off the general title), X-Axis is usually on point.

Madame Mirage #1 was really cool and Megatron’s Origin was fun.
On the manga end my jaw is still on the floor after reading the last volume of Death Note. That manga was just TOO GOOD.

Finished reading Avril Lavigne’s Make 5 Wishes, both volumes. The story and artwork had a very nice calming feeling. It’s about a little girl who makes 5 wishes using a Demon named Romeo, each wish is made by breaking off one of his horns. At first it seems like everything is okay but all of the wishes turn out to be wrong. Towards the end the story gets pretty dark, there’s even some ‘death’ invloved without giving away a lot. Really good read even if you don’t care about Avril Lavigne. Which I… um… may or may not…

Y’know, I picked up the Avril Lavigne comic when I was at the store the other day. But I put back on the shelf and bought something else.
Maybe Darth Vader wouldn’t but young Anakin would. Pass the tissues Jar Jar, meesa crying.

I don’t have a problem with talking about manga or creating seperate threads for it that’s fine. The only thing I ask is, let’s say you are reading One Piece in Japanese and are up to part 1,000 or whatever and in the English translation released by Viz or whoever else are up to part 200, please use spoiler tags when necessary. I mean, it’s like the same kind of thing we do for every other comic, only Japan is so far ahead of what we are up to for stuff like One Piece, Naruto, Berserk, etc…
And yeah don’t give away the ending to Death Note even though the last volume came out in English and the fan subbed anime just wrapped. Some people are still not up to the ending just yet. Spoiling Death Note is just a crime, punishable by Kira.

NEXUS is back, baby. Nexus #99 came out last week and it’s awesome. Madman Atomic Comics came out last week, too. Those are two of the coolest comics around.
I thought new Nexus was a #1 or a mini series or something?
True, it’s also Nexus: Space Opera #1 of 4. And it’s clearly a jumping on point for new readers, seeing as how it’s been 10 years since the last issue. However, Nexus is meant to be ongoing now. The creators decided to keep the old numbering, so it’s got “#99” on the cover. All the miniseries that Dark Horse published in the '90s got tallied up as part of the official numbering.
If you can ever find lots of Nexus issues on eBay, you definitely should get them. Unless you want to go all-out and buy those sexy “Archive” style HCs that retail for 50 bucks a pop. You gotta get into this series.
By the way, did you get Lapham’s new SilverFish HC OGN? And speaking of RoboCop, did you ever read the Steven Grant Avatar Comics version of Frank Miller’s RoboCop II? Is it worth buying?
i had already placed my last book order before silverfish came out so i am waiting until 52 vol. 2 drops before ordering it along with the other new books. I am actually still waiting to find a good deal on the hardcover of the avatar robocop. I heard it wasnt that great but at least it’s something. One of these days I will give Nexus another shot. I liked some stuff in the first DH Archives but other stuff (the Maccabee alien guy) just bugged me.
