Hmm…I don’t even think he’d want to because that would bring more heat onto himself. A superhero’s job is to not mingle in the affairs of normal human life. Maybe he has a moral dilemma? Who knows? I always thought about that. Maybe I’m wrong and overanalyzing it, but, it may be true. He has the funds and the intellect to do it.
You have a point. I’m still not sure if he set out to be the world’s greatest scientist instead of pooring his entire life into being Batman would grant him the same results as a high level DC universe scientist. Or the equivalent of that in any chosen field. As he stands right now it’s difficult to say whether or not he’s smarter than Lex Luthor. Batman’s uphill battle to become Batman resulted out of tragedy, and if his parents lived he most likely wouldn’t of strived for anything he’s achieved period, he’d just be a married rich guy with kids and that’s it. But it’s debatable.
When Gotham City was suffering from a deadly virus Batman cured his people. When he has to do something he will and when he doesn’t, he won’t.
If somebody wants Batman to cure cancer all they would need to do is infect somebody that he cares about like Robin or Nightwing or whoever. Once that’s done cancer’s gonna be cured lickety-split.
Yeah Batman’s bread and butter is forensics. The guy is a detective.
But it isn’t just fingerprints/DNA/profiling stuff. The guy has a well versed knowledge on every subject. Insects, plant life, literature, mythology, etc. He’s very comparible to Grissom on CSI: crime scene investigations.
In terms of science, there’s always going to be specialists that are smarter than Batman in their specific field, (The Atom, Dr. Magnus, etc). However Batman is a jack of all trades and and has a good understanding in every field of science.
If there’s any area that Batman feels that he’s weak on, he goes to batcave, and studies until he understands it.
On a side note… I believe that Bart Allen has the potential to become just as smart as Batman (booksmart-wise, not street smart), considering that Bart can remember everything he reads and he can also read at superspeed.
What about Luthor? I think it was Luthor himself who stated that he could’ve cured cancer if Superman didn’t keep him so busy. The guy is a genious, but I guess not in the same way that Bruce is.
What does this have to do with anything? … I just wanted to be part of this conversation.
Hmmm…I think he lost that ability. I think. I’m not too sure because there really isn’t much going on in the current Flash books that is explaining him as much as they should be.
Here’s a discussion with Siglain about the code Didio put in… he doesn’t seem too happy about it:

And here’s the code for anyone curious:

Spoiler
I hope not. That was one of the coolest things about him from Teen Titans. After he got jacked by Deathstroke and read the whole San Francisco Library, he became one of my favorite characters.
But that just goes to show you that everyone is at the whim of whatever writers wish to do regardless of whether it makes sense or not. At the end of the day, all we can do is walk away with our perceptions of them because it’s always going to vary from writer to writer.
Yeah I do think that Lex is smarter than Batman, in a way, but it’s really different. Greatest criminal mastermind ever times 100 who even managed to become President of the United States versus greatest detective ever times 100 who I really don’t have to talk up in this thread. Well Lex hasn’t been brought to justice yet and if it happens, it doesn’t stick (“It wasn’t me! It was Alexander Luthor - I’m innocent!” ) so I guess I give him the edge. And Lex kicks ass in 52. Lex owns!
Thank you for the fine link good sir. Heh…If I had that much time on my hands, but, I don’t. This post won that thread.

So yeah, concerning Bart and his memory ability: He made mention of it in an issue, but, that was it. All he said was that he retained all the knowledge, but, never confirmed whether or not he can still do it. I’m leaning towards the disappointment of not being able to do it. Which sucks. Which means that was all a fucking throwaway just to have this One Year Later shit happen. Plot device? Hell yes. If they don’t bring it back, then that’s where I stand on the issue.
I always had faith in Bart to become a great character. It’s just that having lame writers doesn’t help the cause. His Teen Titans stuff will always be the crowning moment for Bart Allen.
Yeah, I’m waiting for the new writer (Guggenheim or something?) to take over. The arc he’s preparing sounds interesting (Whether Flash will end up with the Teen Titans or the JLA.). Til then, I stopped picking up The Flash.
I can’t even touch non John’s Flash, it is like acid. It burns my eyes and brain.
The cool thing about Flash is that his powers are so fucking broken.
Why make him Quicksilver? DC you fucked it up.
If the Guggenheim thing turns good, I will once again begin collecting Flash, but nothing will ever top that long ass Kollins/Johns run. It was just so perfect.
You can see bigger images of that DC Teaser pic now. Drawing makes a hell of a great Desktop image. And some lucky people will get to ask Didio stuff about it too.
Holy shit, sano. Jealousy fills me right now.
I’ll do mines tomorrow. Dragging out boxes in the middle of the night makes a lot of noise and I really don’t feel like hearing my mom bitch at 1 in the morning.
Hmmm…I have to read my stuff today or Sunday. One of these two days. I’m digging Penny Arcade vol. 3. Funny stuff from the Golden Age of Penny Arcade.
I need to pick those up. They are on vol. 3 already? Man, I still haven’t picked up the first two vols. I still think that one about Pac-Man on trial is gold “Look, that kid was ****ed up when I met him.”
Watched Batman: Mask of The Phantasm again. My word movie is freaking awesome. The opening credits alone are spectacular. Love the song that plays during the credits.
The Greatest Comic Book Cartoons Of All Time
Nuff Said http://comics.ign.com/articles/758/758931p1.html
By the way, DMZ is simply amazing! I bought the first TPB and have been reading ever since…it’s fresh compared to a lot of the ‘same ol’ superhero stuff.
If you haven’t checked it out already, do so.
Spiderman outranking Superman TAS is a downright, fucking blatant lie. Superman TAS, Batman TAS, and Justice League should be top three no matter what. Xmen shouldn’t even rank second because it was just a retelling of the comic book stuff. I’d rank it a little low behind 5.
Oh, and Xmen Evolution outranking Superman TAS is just…wait…it’s IGN. This shit don’t count.
Fucking truth…IGN people just hating on Superman TAS like that.
Wasn’t the 90’s Spiderman cartoon basically re-using scenes after season 1?
And Xmen Evolution ranking above ANY Dini/Timm animated cartoon is just blasphemy…I can understand 90’s Xmen cartoon, but Evolution was silly to me.
