…wait, so what are you saying about Rob Liefeld’s command of anatomy?

Since he’s not having any medical trouble right now I can say it… he just sux…

I can’t believe I bought 2 issues of Onslaught Reborn.

Is that a bad thing? I wasn’t aware this series was out yet. Is it really that bad though?

Yeah his Teen Titan’s run was one & D-O-N-E!

You say that as if being in a wheelchair is an advantage.

“Oh shit! Cap in a wheelchair!”

Sorry but Liedfield imo has always been shit.

Hmmm… how to explain this…

Onslaught Reborn is a comic I’m buying only because… how should I put this… I like the character of Onslaught, there really isn’t that many comics based on him in total and I have all of his other appearances already so why not. It’s pretty much the same reason I collect Wolverine’s own series. I like the character and want to keep up with what he’s doing despite the fact that over the years Wolverine has had oh so terrible runs, lately things have been pretty good though at least. But there was a point in time where there wasn’t a super villain in his book for TWO FREAKING YEARS and that time I really did just have to quit for a bit until Sabretooth stopped by. I’m not saying every comic needs Super Villains but come on, average joe gangster is not going to take out Wolverine, please don’t make me read that for 2 years…

Went off on a tangent, back to Onslaught Reborn - The artwork sucks. There’s no getting around it. The colorist and the inker do what they can and I suppose if they were not as good at their jobs it could even look worse than it does. But it still sucks.

The writing - The first issue, I did like the explanation of how Onslaught returned but the pacing of it seemed a little too fast for me. But maybe it was because I was not trying to focus on the art as much…

The second issue, I dunno - just seems like they are rehashng Heroes Reborn. Now I’m reading this book because I want to revisit Onslaught and his storyline, not Heroes Reborn. And um, why would anyone want to revisit Heroes Reborn when Ultimates is out there which is pretty much the same concept plus X-Men and Spidey and a hell of a lot better?

But maybe whisking Onslaught away to this alter-earth was the best they could come up with since this is a story they have to cram in somewhere between House of M and Civil War, but I would rather read a story about Onslaught’s reaction to M Day. Hmm, maybe I already read that with Apocalypse’s reaction to M Day. Or maybe not, Apoc never wanted to blow up the planet now, kill all the humans sure but not the planet.

Soooos, I figure that Loeb and Liefeld can never stay on one project for any real legnth of time anyway so I’ll just bear with it for now. At the end of this series either Onslaught will remain as part of the comic’s world still on the loose and he will hopefully get turned over to an X-Men book with more capable writers and artists or he will just vanish again. Either way, I get to keep track of Onslaught’s comic book life for a while, um… yay?

At least there’s always an alternate cover not done by Robbie L so you don’t have to look at his pencils when purchasing… but no I can’t recomend it to anyone. If you’re a fan of Onslaught - you may or may not get it regardless like me. If not, avoid the book like the plague at all costs.

But I don’t know, I feel like I’m paying for the sin of quiting Wolverine when Liefeld had a story arc in it(no it wasn’t the 2 year no villain arc that just would of been torture), or more recently when I had to interupt my collection of Cable & Deadpool because he drew the cover of an issue… CURSE YOU ROBBIE L! Eh, soon he’ll be drawing Youngblood or some crap and I can go back to avoiding him… hopefully…

what did you think of Greg Rucka’s run, sano?

Not really. I have the first two issues. Would you like to buy them? Free shipping and handling!

Ha ha this was during the 2 year super villain freeze out and he had the tail end of it! BAIT!

I think they were trying to get X-Men movie fans to read Wolverine with this more realistic approach or something. Just a hunch, not exactly sure what the villain freeze out was about. So I came in at the end of his arc to read about the Sabretooth story where Wolvie popped his claws through Sabretooth’s brain after running him over with a car. One of the better Wolvie and Sabretooth stories!

Then I went back to reading his stuff in TPBs with like every Wolverine fan I ran into telling me to go read his stuff, Brotherhood and Coyote Crossing and I really enjoyed them. So I have nothing bad to say about Rucka. The man wrote Elektra and Wolverine the Redeemer (which they based the Elektra movie on and messed it up bigtime) so he’s aces with me. Maybe if his Wolvie arc didn’t happen after that oh so terrible gangster arc (and the only good thing I can say about that arc is that it ended with Wolvie owning Punisher lol) it would of worked better for me as a monthly, but it turned out that it worked for me in trades. On some levels, I still want super villains in my monthlies for Wolverine I suppose. And I generally just ignore it when ongoing books are renumbered to #1 like his first issue was, so for me it’s still the arc after the gangster arc in Wolverine, um, I think I explained that right…

In retrospect, Rucka probably had one of the best Wolverine arcs ever. Which, would sound more like a compliment if there wasn’t so many crappy Wolverine arcs… but I do mean it as a compliment.

I really didn’t care for Enemy of the State, the story that followed Rucka’s run though. Nothing against Millar because I love Civil War, but Enemy of the State just dragged on and on for me and I just don’t think that story deserved an entire year. In some ways it seemed like a repeat of Larsen’s arc where he had Wolverine brainwashed and beat up a bunch of heroes. Only Larsen’s story was much shorter and a hell of a lot better to me. Well, to each his own like they say.

Cap in a wheelchair = Wayne Brady riding down your block

So seeing as how I’m sorta-slowly-but-surely-someday getting back into U.S. comics who are the guys/gals to keep an eye out for and which companies.

Back in the day when I was really into it. Image was just coming out on the scene, the only titles I saw were from DH were Aliens VS Predators and other wild shit, Vertigo, Marvel and DC were still the main players and what not…so what has changed other than Image not being around(?)

Welcome to last year, damn it. I miss Geoff Johns on Flash. Also, read JSA. I swear, I’m the only person here who reads that book. I hate you all.

I just watched The Invincible Iron Man.

I have never been more bored in my entire life.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll just wait until they give it on Cartoon Network and save my money…

I read JSA before it was cool to read it.

Back when I was was on my Geoff Johns binge.

Black Adam arc FTW. Also Hawkman arc.

Black Adam is gangsta as hell.

The new green lanturn is hardcore. I forget where I stopped reading. Sometime after the shark I think. Black hand became badass again thanks to johns.

as boring as ultimate avengers?
