I agree that the Kaimana driver, led inserts and all programmable options are completely awesome… They are kind of pricey… When you get the total package, including hollow joystick shaft, it was more than the buttons and other electronics combined for me.
I remember buying a single color LED driver from toodles godlikecontrols.com, where you could use regular LED’s with resistors… That was a lot cheaper and still looked incredible.
But sadly godlikecontrols.com isnt open anymore. Are there any options left for an arcade stick led driver othernt han Kaimana?
In terms of LED units:
You can always get Pele or Uila LEDs from Paradise Arcade.
I’m not sure if ArcEye3s are still available anywhere; I’m personally still running ArcEye IIs in my setups.
In terms of LED drivers:
If all you need is light-up-on-press, you can always forego any fancy LED driver and just use one or two Hex Inverters to get that effect.

Nice schematic! Everything must be common ground though, correct? I was trying to do the “light up on button press” with a PS3 sixaxis with the old Sixaxis Axis adapter but no luck since the PCB is not common ground. All I could manage was the LEDs staying on continually when in use.
